How often do you ladies cowash when wearing extensions? I started off by every two weeks, but have been cowashing once every week now because of the growth.

You do have a good point about that. I started to notice that mine did not look as nice so I moisturized with oils.

I cowashed every other day. I don't worry about fuzz with braids because I mean...they are braids, it's not like it's a slicked back scultped style. I prefer my braids to have a more "natural" worn look to them. When I took them out I only had VERY LITTLE build up on 4 braids (right above my ears and nape of my neck. It was lovely! :spinning:

I wash once a week, why don't you make a mix or veggie glycerin, water and some essential oils to moisturize in between washes or co washes

I do not cowash my braids with extension. I follow the C&G method and there was no recommendation of cowashing. I only wash my hair once every 2 weeks with diluted poo as I do not wish for my braids to look straggly because I work in a very professional environment. I do spray my scalp and roots with my ayurveda powder tea rinse mix once every 2 days to keep them strong and alternate it with infusium 23 leave-in treatment and then spray my African Royale braid spray daily for moisture. My roots are very very soft and I can't help playing in it.

ETA: I noticed that when I was re-doing the edges after 4 weeks that they were very easy to remove, in fact, they slid right out, so the Crown & glory Technique is working very well for me.

I’ve co-washed with braid extentions numerous times, it’s more gentle on the hair and more moisturizing than shampooing. For the times I’ve done so, I would wash mine no more than once a week. Diluting the conditioner with water is a must, as well as moisturizing daily. Have you tried covering your braids with a stocking cap before you wash them? It really helps to minimize the frizzies, just a tip I've learned from Den1. ;)

I usually cowash allot (every 2 or 3 days). If my braids start to look messy I just redo select braids at bed time while watching t.v or playing on the computer.

This is my cowas routine.

I used:
  • Suave Humectant Conditioner w/ EVOO
  • Baking Soda
  • Suave Tropical Coconut Conditioner
What I did:

  1. Pre poo'd with suave humectant w/ evoo for 20mins under heat source and rinsed out
  2. Mixed 1 TBSP of baking soda and 1 cup warm water and squirted over scalp and braids and rinsed out
  3. Did a quick co wash with suave tropical coconut conditioner and rinsed out
Towel dried braids and applied favorite diluted leave in (razac) to my braids by sponge. Sealed braids with oil. Also applied MTG and amla lite oil mix to scalp.

I wash my hair twice a week. Either both shampoo and conditioner, or one could be a just CW. I have human hair extensions so yes they do get a bit messy after a wash, but not all of them. Just some, and so I redo those as time allows, otherwise I style my hair in ways that disguise the mess. Did I mention I love hats and wraps?

Wow I never knew that ppl cowashed braids/ twists with extensions more than once a week! I might try something like this because I love how the hair feels after a good cowash:look:
