Changing up my regimen for Spring ..

has anyone been able to successfully do all three at once ?

WITHOUT making a super-low bun ..

keep in mind .. lo-mani not no-mani ..

and I'm thinking of cowashing every couple of days ..

TIA !

Me!!!!

I am doing LOW-mani and I have started co-washing.

I am completing a 16 week strecth and have started co-washing after week 8. I NEEDED it. I work out a lot and I can't walk around with a sweaty batch of hair, especially 4C newgrowth :perplexed . I also bun.

With this length and stretching, there is no way I can style daily. So, I end up co-washing 3-4 times a week (I work out 5-6 days) and bun my hair.

We will see how this has been improving my hair.

Yup... that's exactly my regimen... daily cowashing and a bun with no otherwise manipulation or heat... (shampoo and deep condition on weekends)... you can check my fotki to see how my hair holds up under this regimen. I'm planning to keep it going til August and hopefully have a nice little reveal.

I cowash every other day and I wear a baggied ponytail everyday! My have lubs it!!!! Your hair will thrive on cowashes and bun. Let us know how you like it!!!:yep:

That's my regimen ........Accept for the stretching....Wash 1x a week...Co washes 3x a week...And rotating buns.....

Thanks guys! I tried cowashing during the summer .. loved it .. I just didn't feel like doing it for school ..

I will try this throughout the rest of April, and if it goes well, probably til my touchup and reveal at the end of May.

Anyone else ?

:yep::yep: I also alternate my bun placement (hi, low, left, right. etc) to cut down on stressing the same points, and use more hair clips than ponytail holders. In the mornings I'll CW (3-5 x's weekly) and apply moisturizer/sealant then smooth back as if I'm putting it in a pony, twist the hair up, tucking away my ends, then secure the clip in place. To make my edges smooth, my waves pop, and to de-puff, I put on my scarf for about 15 minutes. My hair thrives like this, especially in the warmer months.

Sounds great and all but how are you ladies (the ones that are cowashing 3-4 times a week) untangleing your hair. Do you comb during the week before your day to deep condition or are you just cowashing and bunning without combing your hair.

I would love to co-wash/wash more then once a week but I feel that it is to much manipulation during the middle of the week. Especially since I am 6 weeks post now.

How are you ladies doing it?

the more I cowash, the less my hair gets tangled. It gets upset if I wait more than a week for water to touch it.

ITA. If it does tangle, while I'm still in the shower, I pull out the Denman only after I've detangled w/my fingers and shower comb. I texlax every 16-24 weeks but now that I have a handle on things, I don't tangle easily and my NG behaves.

This is what I do while Im on vacation during the summer months. I may try doing it more ofter this summer.

I like it because my hair smells really good and I like ALL of me to smell good.

I alternate buns too.

I usually detangle while rinsing the conditioner under the shower. I usually lose about 4-5 long strands instead of 8 million if I wash once a week.

Thanks ladies sounds good .. but does everyone here just wear the bun straight back ? Because my forehead really won't allow for that. :nono:

Ladies, ladies, ladies....

When doing this regimen, please do not forget to keep regular protein in your regimen. I made this mistake last year thinking.."oh my hair is so soft and always moisturized'..however, as a relaxed you need to keep protein in the rotation so the hair stays strong and doesn't break.

True, true .. I always forget until my hair gets mad .. :nono:

How do you all get your cuticles to lay flat? I stopped air drying because my hair was always left with a rough raised cuticle feel.

:yep: That's how I roll.
I co-wash with Pantene always smooth conditioner, slap on Rusk Smoother leave-in condish, QP Mango Butter and seal with Olive and Clove oil, and that's it.

I do this right before going to bed. I slick my hair back with a boar bristle brush, put on my doo-rag and and put on a bonnet wrap over the doo-rag. and my hair is silkysmooth and wavy the next morning, and did I mention I am 26 weeks post?

Girl, you see my 4head:lachen:Naw, it's not really big but it's there. I wear a swoop bang like Aaliyah did:yep: to take the focus away from my 4head:lachen:

True dat! I deep condition with a light protein conditioner, once a week. Either Motions CPR or Aubrey Organics:yep:

Thats good .. I may have to try that Mango Butter .. I heard it has protein in it though .. :perplexed or did i ?

Idk .. love the weave in the siggy by the way !:yep:

Hey KelleCarter,

I've been oilwashing with coconut oil every other day. No more tangles. I Key is not to use too much. I got the forehead issue too, so I part my hair on the side and sweep the front to the side. f you detangle in the shower using the shower comb to get it in the right shape it's easier and less stress on the hair. It looks cute too (though I look a bit like a stewardess).

If I use either a shower comb or denman I can get it to lay down very well, even with the 3 inches of new growth I got now. I spray my hair with silk amino acid, water and glycerine (for moisture and light protein) then spray with amla/shikakai tea: so much less hair in the comb. Then you can oil the ends (preferably castor oil) and put it up in a loose braid, clip or twist it up with a good hair day pin. Tie on a silk scarf to flaten for 10-15 min and you're good to go.

Don't quote me on this, but for the winter, perhaps you can just leave the scarf on under your hat and just take it off when you get to where you're going. This prevents the frozen head feeling. Maybe.

Easy peasy and SOFT!!! My hair's come a long way from the dried mess in my sig pic. This style helps you look cute while being patient.

Works for me, give it a try.

This is my regimen :yep:. I don't co-wash everday I co-wash every other day and wash and deep condition once a week. I do allow my ends to get wet in the shower every day then moisturize, seal and bun before I go to bed. I think i will be doing this till i hit at least full arm pit length.

i Shampoo pretty much when my hair tells me to...I usually use a clarifying shampoo when I do....I cowash everyday, DC on saturday and bun all through out the week...my hair loves it! I'm lo-mani also...no must no fuss!

Thanks guys! I cowashed last night with Kiwi Lime Squeeze VO5 .. and used the NTM Silk Touch Leave In ..

My new growth isn't all hard and crunchy like it usually is when I airdry .. def. a keeper !
