...and it does get alot easier after the first 5-6 months.:yep:
That's pretty much what MissMarie, my inspiration to transition, said. She mentioned in another thread that it got easier after 6-8 months.

For anyone here who is feeling discouraged or frustrated, you should check out MissMarie's fotki if you haven't seen it. It's a great inspiration.

I've never even gone past 16 weeks! lol
so right now it doesn't feel like a transition to me at all.

i still have 5 weeks to make it to 16, and then after that, i want to just take it on a month by month basis.

you know what i realized?
when my products are more expensive, my hair care journey is more stressful for whatever reason:lol:

I'm going back to the dirty dirty true moisturizing things.
i'm considering going back to Creme of Nature, which I haven't used since 2005, because as of now I need slip AND moisture, and a lot of the more expensive products dont' provide the slip, and some of the cheap ones have cones in them, and that dries out my hair eventually.

I need to go back to Qhemet Olive Oil detangler. so so good!
with that, I will just wash and slick back my hair.
I am hoping to do an experiment soon, that will involve co-washing every day to every other day for a couple of months.

we'll see.

Checking in at 13 weeks post. Week 11 was a bad one. Other than that, things have been going pretty well. My new growth is thick and boy is it coming in quickly. I rollerset using a bit of giovanni direct and lacio lacio, tying a scarf over my head to lay the roots down.

Some days are better than others, but when I get frustrated, I just remember the light at the end of the tunnel. I REALLY want the flexibility to be able to do a nice wash and go and to be able to survive without a flat iron! I look forward to looking different and being able to express my personality through my hair :lachen:

Good luck ladies, be strong, just keep your ultimate goal in mind. And for goodness sake, learn how to rollerset, it will change your life!! :yep:

I can't remember if I responded to this thread yet, but Hi everyone .
I'll be 41 weeks post on...Saturday. My last relaxer was in June of 07. This is difficult. I have been going to the salon since I was around 7 or 8. I'm tender-headed and I have a lot of hair. I was getting it cut to chin length for a year or so to cut down on the amount of hair I had to deal with on non-hair salon days.

I never had my hair relaxed bone-straight until I moved to Cali. I guess they like that look out here :nono:, anyway, I don't and since I'll be out here for a little while I decided to take control of my own hair. Subsequently, most of the back broke off due to the extreme difference in texture. I'm at a crossroads. I could barely comb my relaxed hair so you can imagine the agony I'm in right now.
On a positive note, I have no intentions of getting another relaxer. I might BC on April 4th. I'm trying to follow the moon cycle. Yes, I'm a weirdo :yep:. lol. j/k

Agreeing that things got soo much easier at about 6-7 months. I think if most can hold off til then, the roughest patches are over. My most difficult time was about months 4 and 5, so about 15-20 weeks post for some reason, even though when I relaxed regularly, I normally went about 3-4 months between retouches.

I think now that I have more natural hair then relaxed, I am learning to just go with the flow, as opposed to "make" my hair do something its not wanting to do, which I had to get over by month 6.

Hello! I'm 32 weeks post and I plan to chop in august 09.. i am currently in braids and cornrows until august 30th! then i will take out the braids, flat iron, take progress pics, and braid it all over again!

I'm transitioning back to natural after about 2 years relaxed. If I had known more about managing my natural hair I wouldn't have done it, but I didn't have major problems with my relaxed hair, I just realized that my fro was awesome!

I'm about 10 wks post. I'm impatient for a w&g though!

I basically began transitioning with the new year. So around 13 - 14 weeks post...

If and when I make it to 1 year, I will BC. It will be my first time having short hair if so...might be a nice change!

15 weeks post and boy has it been tough. As many have said, detangling has been the biggest frustration and just finding out what products work with my hair. Rollersetting has helped immensely!!! I'm still on the fence though...I'm going back and forth depending on how frustrated I get with my hair. Said I was relaxing on Monday after a DISASTROUS flexirod set (DH started singing Do You Know Where You're Going To when I came out of the bathroom), washed that out and did a roller set tonight which came out bangin, and I feel like I can keep going with the transition...one week at a time I guess

we are on the same journey! i'm about 14 weeks post and also plan to BC after a year.

I will be 8 months post at the end of April. Every other week I want to relax my hair....but I'm going to be strong and try to transition without a BC.

Checking in again... and bumping for more '08 Transitioners!!!

I am 57 WEEKS POST (roughly 1 YEAR & 2 months)
Today I'm trying a ponytail set because it's supposed
to make the roots straighter and it's a whole lot quicker...
we shall see...

5weeks here, tried transitioning last yr but went back to d creamy crack:ohwell: after 20wks, am gonna BC this time round..

Anyone plan on BCing this fall?

Well ... this whole time I've been saying that I'm going to BC in September. But now I'm starting to change my mind. I may go until March 2009 (my 2-year relaxer free anniversary).

17 weeks post checking in. I think I have "scab hair" in front (on my edges), which makes me want to relax, but I'm hangin in there.

k im too lazy to figure out weeks, but ive been transitioning for 20 months, Ive been doing mini chops and in Sept I plan on doing the final chop.

Urm I give up in the weeks btu Ill be 3 years transitioning in a month or 2. :spinning: Yea there is actually relaxed ends left and they arent going anywhere unless I cut them. Surprise surprise to all those whop told me it would fall off :look: You can do it ladies!!!
