I'm one of the (transitioning) six footers on this board and I have a question for all you tall ladies; How long did it take for you to achieve your goal lenght?
I have seen so many women on this board starting at SL and reaching BSL within no time...only to discover that these women are anything between 4'11" and 5'5" which really does no apply to me at all.
I know my hair is definetely growing, I have 3-4" of awsome new growth to prove that and I know I'm retaining lenght because I'm in protective styles 99,9% of the time and I never see broken hairs but it looks like i will never reach APL.

Tall ladies, please share.

Interesting thread, MissNorway! I'm still a newbie per se, so I can't answer your question about reaching goal length. I'm a long way from my goal but I'm interested in hearing what my other tall sisters have to say.:look:

BTW, I'm a 6 footer too!

About 3 years from SL to BSB (but I was still learning what worked for my hair and what didn't and I was trimming like a mad person) and then after that MBL took a little while (due to constant trimming). But in the fall of '07 I cut my MBL hair back to (a little longer than...) APL - that was about September and my hair is already back to BSB (an inch or so longer than BSB to be exact) ... so with proper care, your hair will grow just as long as the shorties.

I would like to know this as well....I am a 5'10" texlaxer that has had two long stretches and have seen some length, but I feel like it will be forever to get to my goal length because my torso and neck are so long!!!

Hey ladies Im 5'11' and although i am not quite at my goal length just yet, I am hoping to reach BSL shortly . I can say that I did cut my hair the beginning of Jan 07 to right below SL and hopefully will be at BSL when I figure out what to do with my head and check my length, I'm currently 23 weeks post and havent decided if i want to transition or relax. But in any event by next week I will decide and check my length, but overall I think that the length I've gotten since the cut is very good considering i've done 2 major trims in between then and now. I do beleive height makes a difference in reaching goals and the amount off inches one would need obtain to reach any of there length goals. The number of inches a 6 foot woman would need to reach BSL is very different than the amount of inches one would need if there 5'2" :yep:. I say lets start a tall girls grow your hair support group or something :lachen:. hth

Well, I'm almost in the club, I'm 5'9." :look:

I'm at shoulder length and I actually measured... It's gonna take about a year to reach APL. :perplexed And maybe another year to reach BSL. :perplexed

I am 5' 11.5" and I guess it's taken me a while to get from SL to APL. I'm almost at APL and after my last 3 month stretch, it was difficult for me to notice a difference in my 3 month comparison pics, even though I suffered minimal hair breakage.

I've just realized it's frustrating to always be worrying about my hair length and whether or not it's growing. It takes the joy out of having healthy hair.

My haircut when I was ear/neck length was incredible and I really enjoyed it. I'm going to get my hair trimmed an inch or two on Saturday. And I'm gonna get it trimmed like twice a year from now on.

I'm gonna keep taking care of my hair but I'm not gonna worry about hair length goals, I'm just gonna let my hair surprise me!

I'm 5'9, and when I was a little past APL for me it was long. For bra-strap, I had braids that length that's more like mid-waist for most people, and for me it would be too long.

I feel like that too. I thought about setting my end hair goal at a little past APL because BSL is gonna be extra long, and you can forget about WL. That would be like 4 years from now and about 3 feet of hair. :nono:

I'm 6'0 & my hair is about 1/4 inch from brastrap. I just got 1 inch cut off last week. I haven't really tracked my progress in regards to how long it has taken me to get where I am. I trim or cut my hair about every 2-3 months depending on how the ends are looking. I hate raggedy ends :look:

I have a longer neck and my torso is long so I'm sure these factors along with my frequent trims will cause me to take a little longer in meeting my long term goal of MBL.

MissNorway...I hope you model and put your height and beauty to work for ya. I saw your birthday pics thread. You and "Emily" are gorgeous. I might have to get myself an "Emily". I've had my eyes on Emily and Hannah for a minute now.

But uhm...I am 5'9'' and I feel your pain. It took me FOREVER to get from SL to APL...which baffled me because my hair was BSL or WL for the better part of my life. But once I cut it above my shoulders and was growing it out on its own without knowing about protective styling and the like...it was hella frustrating and took hella long.

Remember that the time it might take you to get to full APL might be the same time that it could take someone to get to touching BSL...simply because of the proportions of your body. You ARE inching along...and you WILL get there. But it's going to take longer, naturally...because the road is longer.

Once you get to APL though...it's a breeze from there.

I don't know what it is about chasing APL. It's a weird length. I think because your hair is always in contact with something. Purse, carseat, clothing, you always need to move it or brush it back, etc. When you get to APL though, your options open up and you can easily protect your hair by simply swooping it up and not having to braid, pin, tie, band, etc.

I'm 6'1 with collar-bone length hair, and at my current rate of growth/retention I should reach my goal length (WL) by January of 2010. I can't really say I mind though. I'm enjoying the journey!

I did not take this into consideration. I am trying to reach SL by the end of this year and my necklenght is a factor. Keeping fingers crossed.

I'm almost 6 feet and it has taken me FOREVER and a half juuust to get to shoulder length, and I'm still not there all the way around.

I have a very long neck though, hopefully after I reach it will be smooth sailing from then on...

It took me about 15 months to go from no hair to SL..., w/this neck I hope to make apl by January.(or I could just pull my shoulders to my ears and cheat).

I'm such a loser, the other day I was in the bathroom trying to estimate how long my hair would be if I was a few inches shorter...In my calculations, if I was a littlum I'd be very close to apl by now. :look:

I'm 6 ft tall so i'm loving this thread! After my setbacks i need a thread like this one to remind me that it's still possible. My goal is MBL. I don't care how long it takes.

OMG>.. I never even thought that my height would make it appear my hair isnt growing... Im "only" 5'9" but feel the pain

Okay, I'm only 5'8 :perplexed

But it's taking me FOREVER to get to APL

I think I understand what you mean Mrs Norway

Ditto. My neck is long and even though I've gotten good growth/retention in the last six months- I think I'm at least 3 to 4 in. from full BSL.:ohwell: (Siggy pic is old)

(I'm only 5'8 too- so I can only imagine how it feels for you Glamazons!!! Somebody give me 2 more inches and I can officially join your group!:lachen:

Tall girls rock!)

im 5'11" and a half and it took me about 6 months to go from shoulder legnth to apl. it does seem like my bra strap is very very far away but i know ill get there it probably wont be by the summer like i wanted to be but thats ok i think i needed to be more realistic about my goal setting because my bra strap is a bit further away than the average bear.

Aw  Thank you so much Suerte. That Emilie is the best buy I have made in a long time.

Thank you guys for all the responses, I know it is definetely not going to make my hair grow any faster, but it helps to know I'm not alone in this. I'm 6'1" and have a looong neck and a huge head lol.
I remind myself that I'm transitioning on the 24th week and i have a fro underneath that seriously shrinks my hair.
One day I'll swing my BSL hair all over the place lol

I know there are other Glamazones here on this board, so please, do chime in!

We are the exact same height. Yay!

Hey ladies, 5'11"er chiming in.

I recently relaxed my hair so i am starting the journey all over again.

Years ago my hair has been as long as just past SL and to be honest my hair suits me so much better in a loose roller set/waves up around my face. I think being so tall and with quite a long face and neck, long straight hair kind of drags my features down.

I will of course continue to grow my hair but i'm loving rollersets so i doubt i'll be wearing it straight anymore.

5 11". Yeah, I had to remind myself of this when I took my first fotki picture.. My neck looked a mile long, and for a tall person, my legs themselves aren't tall. It's all about that long neck and torso, so I'm in it for the long haul. You'll get there girl. It might take us a bit longer but I think that that will make the victory a little bit sweeter as well.

WELL FIRST OF ALL LET ME SAY THAT I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS THREAD!!!! I MAY BE THE TALLEST PERSON ON HERE CHECKING IN AT 6'3(NO HEELS).....I FEEL LIKE IT IS GOING TO TAKE ANOTHER YEAR OR SO TO GET TO BSL, BUT THEN I THOUGHT ABOUT IT AND REALIZED THAT I HAVE ALL THE TIME IN THE WORLD(GOD WILLING)!!!!! AND WHEN I MAKE IT TO APL, I AM GOING TO BE LIKE KANYE WEST...."CAN'T TELL ME NOTHIN'....LOL.....AT FIRST I DISMISSED TRYING TO GET TO BSL AND WAS AIMING FOR APL, BUT I JUST HAVE TO BE A LITTLE MORE PATIENT THAN A SHORTER WOMAN. I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO BEING TALL WITH BSL HAIR IN THE NEAR FUTURE. I THINK TALL WOMEN WITH LONG HAIR ARE SEXY AND I CAN'T WAIT TO REACH MY GOAL!

Hello Model-esque Lovelies. I'm a shorty, I can never reach the top cabinets without doing a running jump and I can't see anything at parades, you all are very lucky. I wondered, how long is it from the nape of your neck to apl, bsl, wl, etc.?
