I DC when I wash my hair 2 x each week, using a good moisturizing conditioner like Nexxus Humectress or Humectin.Hey Ladies with long hair, how often do you deep condition? What do you do to your hair before bed?
Same here. I dc like once a month.I'm (only slightly) ashamed to say that I never deep condition anymore.
I found a way to keep my hair moisturized 24/7 so it really doesn't need it anymore.
Before bed I loosely twist my hair and fasten the twist with a hair comb. That way it's soft enough to sleep on and still looks great in the morning when I take it down.
I'm amazed to see that most of us don't wear protective styles!![]()
I wear a ponytail 99% of the time...boring I know!
The most important things I can contribute to my length are no direct heat, and low manipulation. Those two things are HUGE! Other hair care practices are important but those are the biggest for me.
I usually wear braid-outs and roller sets. I wash my hair once a week or once every two weeks. Through out the week I try not to comb my hair a lot and finger comb as much as possible. I moisturize and oil my hair everyday and take my vitamins. I don't do protective styles other than a ponytail everyday. When I'm home though my hair is always pinned up or in a bun.
To sum it up, I think the less you do to your hair the better.![]()
Goody Ouchless bands from Wal-Mart. I'm trying to start using panty hose more like Chicoro does. That seems to be more gentle and a lot easier for me to ponytail my wash n' go's! I get so tired of trying to pull my huge puff through those bandsWhat are you using to secure your daily ponytail? Thanks!

FH, do tell...how u keep ur hair moisturised24/7????
How often do you (waistlengthers) trim and how do you keep your ends full?
For those of you with WL hair, how did you keep it from rubbing on your clothes while you were getting there?
Natural
My hair grows long because I don't cut it and I don't have very little (if any) breakage.
Air dry- curly
Blow dry-straight. My curlformers are on the way, so I'm hoping to style without heat soon- BUT . . .
Using heat seems to work for me. If I don't use heat, and just wash and go (no setting) I have to wet my hair everyday. My hair needs moisture when it's kinky, and that means I have to detangle while wet more often- thus I lose more hair. When my hair is straightened, I use oil to keep it moisturized, and there is very little tangling- thus very little manipulation. I know that in the long run, using heat probably shortens the lifespan of each hair strand, so that is why I'm looking for other ways to smooth the hair and lock in moisture (twist outs, braid outs, and maybe curlformers . . .).
