point me in the right direction. . . I'll cut her, it will only be my first strike so I am good.

 This IS true!!!!! She prolly sensed that I'm not the type to nut up which is why she felt so comfy replying that way. If I had been all rough and tough and in her grill, she prolly woulda' been like, 'Oh I shampoo with aloe vera mist, deep condition with lily bark and moisturize with pixie dust. Matter of fact, I have some extra pixie dust in my knapsack, would you like some?? Imma go buy you the whole line, meet me back here at three.....'

Lol!!!!!!!

:dighole:

Yea there was definitely some shinnannagins going on.:nono:

Some people are just... well you know. Lol I'm speechless. I could make a joke but the fact that there are people out there like this is just sad and not funny.

Now I have words:
It's like you can tell how this girl was raised just from her response. I've known the type now that I think of it.

I can just picture some "mixed" kid getting all the praise from the adults at every gathering and people always telling her she has good hair and complimenting how pretty she is (always adding in that she's got Spanish in her or that her daddy's white or whatever). Probably accepts it as fact that she's pretty because she's mixed or her hair is pretty because she's mixed. If people compliment her she knows it has something to do with her not being all black.:look:

Maybe if you had responded "I couldn't tell":nono: she wouldn't be swinging her hair that much..I personally don't compliment or say anything to anyone, I just admire it and leave it at that.

everyone already said it all..
but big ups for using tomfoolery in a sentence. You just don't hear a zinger like that one anymore:grin:

ok I might get a few stones for this but I dont care..hahaha..seriously, before I found the board, I really had it in my head that mixed people, white people, mexican people, etc had an advantage when it came to hair. One of my good friends has a white mother and black father. She used to cut her hair short like in a bob all the time and it would be back BSL in a few months it seemed like and yes, I figured it was because she was mixed which is partially true. Now that I have a better understanding about hair and how to go about taking care of my hair, comments like these dont bother me because the average person really truly believes that black hair does not have the potential to grow like most of the other races and I would find it hard to believe that alot of us didnt think this way before we joined the board and found out the real deal so lets give the chick a little slack before we talk about cutting her:lachen:

LMAO @ "tomfoolery".:lachen:

Wait...LOL...I'm still laughign at that too :lachen:tomfoolery...

I say dont be mad at the girl..I was pretty ignorant of the hair and things like that as well before I got on this board. I thought that because I was mixed I was supposed to have this really long beautiful hair like the other folks in my family... CLEARLY that isnt the case.. now we know genetic makeup plays a small role in what yo head will turn out like..but its good health care that keeps it that way... (see it takes a village to raise a child )

You said what I was thinking but didn't say....

I agree with this post 100%, some peope forget where they came from, we used to be "ig'nant" too.:wink2:

MPJ - Nah I don't know the chick, this is the first time I've seen her. I work @ a University so she could be 1 out of thousands of students.. I'll prolly never see her again! But if I do, Imma make a new homey! :D

Marie & Panama - Lowkey, I'm really not mad at her. I was caught off guard like a big dog, but just like some of us were raised to believe that '100% black' girls (and I use that phrase very loosely, you know what I mean) can't grow long hair, I'm sure she was raised to believe that mixed race = pretty hair, etc. :yep: Both viewpoints are incorrect!

Legend - Why didn't I say 'So am I, girl!!!' :wallbash: She prolly would have choked on her chai.....!

This whole thing just made my day THAT much more interesting..

Imma get business cards made up with LHCF's webaddress on it... when I encounter stuff like this, Imma pass it to the person like 'Here you go boo.... Mama knows.....' okay not really...

Thank ya'll for responding.. :D

Yup, like I said in my previous post, we've all been misinformed one way or another. :) I couldn't really trip over the fact that this was her viewpoint; look at the thread about 'LHCF Sins we used to commit' (or something like that) and you can see just how un/misinformed alot of us were....

It caught me off guard that she was just so blatant with it! Like 'The name of the product that I use to get hair this silky and smooth is called 'Interracial Relationship'. It's not sold in stores.'

If it was me--and I was in a naughty mood--I wouldn’t have missed a beat and said with great enthusiasm

“Oh really?!? So am I!!!! So........what did you say you used on your hair?”
I love it! :lachen:

Maybe if you had responded "I couldn't tell":nono: she wouldn't be swinging her hair that much..I personally don't compliment or say anything to anyone, I just admire it and leave it at that.

Shut it down! Be like "Ohhh really......." :look:

:lachen:True!

But maybe she gets asked tha tso much "What are you mixed with?" that she just assumed that is what you meant.

I mean, granted this is the 21 century, people still ask people with "nice"() hair what they are mixed with, so she may have thought that is what you meant.

She probably gets compliments left and right asking her what she's mixed with and so on so she just answered without thinking.

Know what I mean?

:look::look::look: I am just to through @ this thread! Her mother must have been the lady from the I Don't Indulge Hair thread~ :nono:

I am just to through!

Okay, I can admit to that. But it's not like everyday is a good hair day for folks even with *that* hair. They can have can and bad hair days, too. I still think it's a weird response to "what do you use?"
