The back is so tight and puffy! I did not even bother taking a pic of it erplexed

Anyway, it was my first rollerset. I guess I cannot ask for much more.

My hair feels shorter, that's for sure.

Well, I am going to try again this weekend. I did get lazy when I got towards the back. Maybe I was not putting them in tight enough.

As for the clips...

I keep telling youse guys to ditch the clips and use roller pins instead. I've been roller setting my hair for almost 27 years. The roller pins are much easier to deal with!!!

This might be overkill, but I do have a little rollersetting tip....

I started having roller tension issues about a year ago as my hair got longer. So, when using my magnetic rollers, I just use 2 clips--one on each side. Works like a charm and my rollers stay nice, secure, and taut. It just takes an extra second and is totally worth it.

Okay. Please pardon the drama queen moment.

I just poured a glass of Shiraz and I have calmed down.

I think I was disturbed by the amount of hair I lost when I combed it out.

It was not straight and was tangled in some places and I should not have combed it out like that.

I just cut 3 inches last month or so and lost some hair due to hormonal issues (per my doc – I think it is stress)

I just afford to lose anymore.

Anyway, I have managed to tame my hair and flatted it down. I parted it down the middle and put it into 2 big pin-curls so I can tie it down. It should be flatter in the morning.

Thank goodness for wine. LOL

I was able to rollerset a hair mannequin with pins. It turned out nicely!

Now if only I can do the same on myself.

I think I do need more product. I tried the less is more thing tonight and I do think I need more moisture. That will be my trial this weekend. Also, making sure I tighten the back more.

I bet when I get a touchup, I would be able to get a good set. My roots are crazy right now.

PLEASE do not try these!

The regular longer ones are easier to use IMO. You are asking to be frustrated with these unless you are a Pro.

And yes, get the ones with the clip that goes over the roller. Until you master the art of the double pronged clip it will save ya life!
ETA: This is what I am talking about:

They will leave that annoying dent. I make sure not to use the covers where the dent will be seen. I dont use them on the very front edges of the hair. No they dont cause any stress to the hair at all.

I always rollerset then silk wrap because of the dents. erplexed

Well, this was fun tonight. But, only because it actually worked! LOL

Should it take and hour to dry shoulder length hair? That is how long it is taking.

Well, I got most of it dry but the very front is still a little damp.

But, I do like the straightness of the sections I did check and have dried. My hair feels moist, too!

I did not even use a lot of product.

There are going to be some of my underprocessed section that are going to need to a low run with a flatiron, but I may get better with this.

I am going to do it again this weekend.

Oh yeah. It takes an hour to dry my shoulder length hair.

I tried bigger ones and they were moving all around.

My hair looks fine today. It flattened out.

Confession: I am scared to try it again. I wish I had taken a pic of the hair I lost when I combed it out. Honestly, it was like combing out airdried hair. I should have known better.

There are 12 rollers in this pack. You can see they are shorter than the normal sized.

Do you think these would be easier to get clipped and stay in tighter than the longer ones?

That is my biggest problem with rollersetting. The rollers will just not stay in tight enough to get my hair straight and it ends of being pointless and a waste of time.

But I really need some less-direct heat way to do my hair.

Honeydew, making sure the hair was soaking wet before wrapping around the roller helped me with this. I use a Denman brush as the final detangler on the hair that I'm rolling. You have to be careful, too, to make sure you don't pull the hair too much during rolling, because hair shrinks as it dries, and it will break in those pretty little C curls! HTH

I could not wait until the weekend. I am rollersetting now! I have been under my dryer (I have the space alien one ) for about 45 min.

I just check a roller and it is not dry

I have a feeling that is is NOT GOING TO BE CUTE. LOL I out this rollers in all over the place. Not much order.

I must be feeling really confident today because not only am I trying a rollerset, but I tried a new conditioner, too.

I have a meeting first in the morning, too. This is going to be interesting. LOL

ITA and make sure your hair is properly dry before removing the rollers. The same thing happened to me one time. My curls weren't completely dry and when I went to wrap my hair I lost a lot of hair. Good luck - but do try again.

HoneyDew, I use the rollers with snap covers too.
They are so much easier than using clips. Give it another try.

This time maybe use a larger roller and make sure your hair is completely dry before you remove the rollers.

Another tip I learned is to let your hair cool before removing the rollers. This seals the cuticle resulting in shiner hair and the curl will set better. Plus removing the rollers without your hair being dry will cause frizzy ends & increased breakage.

ETA: The snap covers do leave dents but after I wrap my hair for the night they will flatten out. Another option is to smooth the most obvious dents with the flatiron. HTH

I must just be a weirdo or something, because I find the rollers with the covers harder to use then the roller clips.

But then I again I do find rollersetting fun! So, I got some deeper issues to deal with.

Ditto, I don't like using the big plastic clips. I hate pulling them off and on my hair and they leave dents. I only use them when doing a ponytail rollerset. I spent 1.5 years practicing with bobby pins and I don't plan on stopping.

I also find rollersetting fun, lo1!

I also love bobby pins. I'd like to use the silver clips but they always disappear from my dresser drawer...

...I'll have to hide a stash of them.
