Whats the key to great rollersets??

I viewed everyones roller set pics and they are all so shiny and soft......is the secret in the leave in or the dc or the oil your sealing with.....my roller sets never come out smooth and shiny and i always end up itching to flat iron over it

I'd say the key to great rollersets are using minimal product and pulling the rollers taut while rolling. I've also noticed my rollersets come out best when I roll y hair while still about 85% wet.

I agree. I'd also add:

Not overloading your roller with hair. It's better to use more rollers than to have hair falling off the sides or buckling in the middle.

Use light products that don't leave a film. That film can show up as dull hair. If your hair feels like you rub a dryer sheet over it, it's going to take away the shine.

ITA with this. When I used setting lotion or tried to emulate what my hairdresser did my rollersets always came out looking a mess. Once I started using less products and a spray bottle of water, my rollersets have been looking yummy I just stated experimenting with larger rollers and that is really helping my dryer time.

You know how some conditioners can be used as a rinse-out conditioner and as a leave-in. The ones that can't tend to leave a residue on the hair once it dries. You can't always see it, but you can feel it. They tend to make your hair look ashy and dull.

This happens to me when I try to use Razac Leave-in straight out of the bottle. I always have to dilute it 3:1.

After I wash my hair I spray it with elasta qp leave in. Then I part my hair in three. Leaving two side pony tails leaving the center out. After that I comb it out a little and spray it with water and kera care humetro con mixer. I part my hair to fit the roller I add castor to the ends to keep from frizzing and to seal in the water ( This keeps ends soft and moisterized for atleast 3-5 days). Anyway I do another comb through to make sure my hair is straight, put the roller on the ends of the hair and start rolling down. But not too tight becasue that casues breakage while it drys. ( remember your hair streches out when its wet,when it dryes it will break if the roller was pulled to tight. Even after your roller set is done and you comb it days later your hair will break!!) Anyway After I finnish the middle I do the sides and put a net on my head to hold the rollers HTH
