has made me really really want to transition! For those of you that don't know what I'm talking about here is her video on youtube "Hate on Me".

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qw3Z8Oa7E3Y&feature=related

Her fro is so big! I love it moving and vibrant. I love the color the texture everything. she looks beautiful....I mean really if I could get my natural hair to do that I would never touch a relaxer again...well I haven't relaxed since November of last year anyway I thought i was stretching....but.....man I'm in :love: with my natural texture and others as well. Could this be the beginning? What am I gonna do with my pibbs now?

Oh girl, that makes 2 of us being in love. Her hair is off the chain. I can't wait until my mane is that full!!

Now for all of you natural pros out there, how does one with natural hair achieve a style like this? Doesn't look like much shrinkage so I'm wondering was it just blown out.

I love it...at 1st i thought it was hers but upon closer inspection looks like a half wig ( i might be wrong)... still lurv it tho! to achieve that style on ur natural tresses i think u might have to blow it out!

I saw a lady go into a beauty supply store with hair JUST LIKE THIS. Some teens were hanging around outside and laughing and pointing at her (ign'ant). I don't think she had enough confidence to wear it because she kind of look embarassed and uncomfortable.

I followed her in looking for supplies myself and told her how much I loved her hair/style. She lit up with a smile and said thank you sister!

GORGEOUS!!! I think it might be blown out, but jsut a lil bit...... She is one of my fashion icons.....

I LOVVVEEEE jilly's hair...its all hers too, i saw her live last night, and she had it pinned up, kinda like a fro-hawk...it was soooo cute!!! got me thinking about transitioning...again

That's a wig! Sawwy!
Yes it is a wig. Since I'm sure it will be debated

She chopped it all off in 2006 and started wearing wigs...off to find link with pictures. She's also discussed her wigs in interviews.

But it's been 2 years who knows maybe she's a member here?

One of the things I love the most about Jill Scott is the fact that she is her own person. Everything about her stands out in a good way, she is very confident and secure from her voice to her hair. Definitely a good hair rolemodel for the LHCF ladies.

It doesn't matter if it's a wig too me - it's beautiful. Honestly I have been on the fence about going natural for a hot minute. much of it due to the profession that I'm in and what other people would say or do. And now I don't care. I have never "stretched" my hair for this long and every time I feel my coils I think how sad it's gonna be when I relax my hair again because they will all go away. I think I might just have to face the facts that I love my hair and I want a really big poofy lovely afro and puff lol. Surely there is a way to make this look professional? And since I'm in wigs most of the time it's not like anyone will know until I get to a natural length where I can keep it bunned up!

Jill always looks good IMO. I just simply pointed out that her latest do's are wigs. Which in a way was a disappointment to me, because she was one of a few sistahs in the entertainment arena...That rocked the hell out of natural styles. Her hair seemed so strong and looked so healthy. Many woman copied her various styles. Prolly still will?

But she said she wanted a change and wigs give her more versatility. At first I was like huh? But, now I get it...Since I made a mad rush myself to the BSS to slap some goo in my head to tame my 5z curls.

Mau-vu-lous Darling, just mau-vu-lous!

That's weave in the video. She's been wearing weaves and wigs since she came back out in 07. She has straight hair on the cover of her album. She has also made comments about the weave in interviews. If you notice lately the color and style (Size of curl/texture) has changed more than once. That's how you can tell.

If you feel like you want to transition, I say go for it. There's plenty of info here to help you.

Anyone know if it is a full head weave or is some of her hair blended with it? I honestly didn't know..wow. Then again, I haven't paid attention to her interviews to really know. Where can I get hair like that?

LusciousLockedDoc, I love Jill's hair too! Her in addition to other naturals have inspired me to transition as well. I love big, kinky, curly hair!

It looks like a full head to me. All of the weaves I've seen her with are full heads. Like the hair she had in Why Did I Get Married was a full head weave. She talked about it in the Essence article because the interviewer asked her about it. When you're natural, it's just so much easier to have a full head so you don't have to fight with blending. Either that or it is a wig. I asked on BHM what kind of hair it was some time last year but nobody pointed me in the right direction. :ohwell:

Glamazon386 true...but you know they can bone straighten her hair and weave it up staight for the cover also. I'd give it to them..they hook her mane up! But either way it's gorgeous. For me I just BC'd mine and waiting for my length.... I'm just excited!

It was a wig. The way the bang fell gave it away. I have the cd here on my desk. Also why straighten your hair for one photo shoot when you don't have to? It could take hours. The wig could be ready before she even got to the shoot. Most of us on this board don't even straighten our hair unneccesarily. We all know time is money in the industry and ALL the celebs wear wigs and weaves so why would JS be the exception because she's a nappy? I think people just assume because she's a nappy that it must be her hair. Like people thought Erykah Badu's fro was real when it was a wig.

Exactly my point! Plus she's discuss openly her wigs and what nots on radio interviews.

You're right. She is open about it. I wish more celebrities would be because they all wear some type of enhancement. I still have the essence where she talked about the weave in the TP movie. I remember once at a concert she made a comment on stage saying "I'm gonna kill my stylist for this weave".

Ladies, we're not trying to start a debate but I do think that it should be put out there just so you know. Jill's hair always looks beautiful but I've seen plenty of people on this board ooh and ahh over somebody's hair and then they're upset when they find out it's fake. It's like finding out Santa isn't real. That's why I feel the need to mention it. How would you feel if you found out your inspiration here on the board was faking it all along? You'd be disappointed right?

That and some people do not want to use fake hair as a reference point for the goals they are trying to achieve. I think it's funny that people come in threads about celebs over here in the hair board and say well I don't care if it's fake or not it's beautiful and then go over to ENT or even in real life and flip the script. They'll be the first ones to say they don't like fake hair, don't wear it, (which is fine you have to do what's best for you) etc. like it's the devil or something. I find that a lot of women look down on women who wear wigs and weaves for whatever reason. But seriously, If they saw a woman in real life with nice looking hair they would be trying to figure out if it was the woman's hair or not. That I don't care if it's weave or not comment would go out the window.

Jill is still natural. I went to her concert in Bmore a few weeks ago and she's rocking a cute mini-fro. Probably what's underneath her wigs.

There's our answer. :yep: Maybe she's trying to grow her hair out?

OT: I wanted to go to the show but I waited too late to get good seats. How was it?

Thanks for responding glam! Her weaves look really good!

Yeah, I admit I am guilty of that. I was initially surprised (although I really shouldn't have been) that Erykah's fro was a wig. Regardless, I still love the hair she was/is rockin'.

Glamazon, the show was off the hook! I've seen Jill before several times and each time I'm left in even more awe. She always gives a terrific show. She did a lot of songs too!

See, what I want to know is where are they GETTING these wigs? I mean - that might be the sort of wig I might rock, if I wanted to do something super-protective.

Glam it's all good. Real or not, wig, weave, or natural...i like it. i can do hair that's just what I do, my heart isn't broken over it:spinning::yep: regardless I really do like it and I say rock on!

A lot of people are having them made. You can send measurements and get a lacefront made. Also people make regular wigs too. I know a girl here in town who gets all her wigs made. Celebs are doing the same thing. Like on Patti LaBelle's show on TVOne the showed her stylist make a wig for her to wear on stage. They showed him making the wig and styling it before she arrived. Then when she got there he put the wig on her head and then adjusted it and did some more cutting. Then it was ready to wear.
