Glamazon, the show was off the hook! I've seen Jill before several times and each time I'm left in even more awe. She always gives a terrific show. She did a lot of songs too!

Aww I'd really like to see her. My roommate saw her last time she came to Baltimore a few years ago and they were front row center. She said it was GREAT.

I know this may not be any help but I know there's this HSS(nothing but hair) in L.A. I went to that actually make the wigs and weaves for celebrities. I forget the name of it. But I bumped into Kiely Williams on my way out 3 years ago when she was getting her custom wig, weave. It kind of look like a whole in the wall but they have pictures of celebrities all up along their walls who buys hair. I can try to get the name of it from my godsis if you like I know they do online orders.

See, what I want to know is where are they GETTING these wigs? I mean - that might be the sort of wig I might rock, if I wanted to do something super-protective.

Oh, that would rock - I would at least like to see what their selection is like....

Oh girl, that makes 2 of us being in love. Her hair is off the chain. I can't wait until my mane is that full!!

Now for all of you natural pros out there, how does one with natural hair achieve a style like this? Doesn't look like much shrinkage so I'm wondering was it just blown out.

It looks like it is blowdried partly because I still see zigzags. When I blowdry my hair it looks full like Jill's.

She bought it like that. That hair is probably long once it's stretched out. The hair I have now is only touching my shoulders when curly but if I were to straighten it, it would be mid back length. When it's soaking wet it hangs almost to my waist from the weight of the water.

If you wanted to do this with your hair, I think a braid out or twist out on dry stretched hair would give you that look. Probably the braid out.

Are you talking about your natural hair or fake hair you bought from the store?

I didn't buy my hair from the store. But anyway... I was talking about the weave hair in the first part and nakia's hair in the second part. The only way I've been able to get my own hair to stand up on it's own in a fro like in JS's video is to do a braid out. Blowdrying didn't help. My hair straightens too easy from the blowdryer.

In order for weave to stand up like that, they would have to cut it in order to do it because of the way the hair would naturally layer. It would have a triangle (big from east to west) type look if they didn't cut it or weight it down some kind of way. You could also brush all the curls out with a paddle brush but it still wouldn't have much of a shape to it unless you cut it.

Pardon me for saying the store. My only experience of buying fake hair or a wig was from getting it from a store. I wouldn't know where else to buy weaves or wigs. Jill Scot could be sporting a wig. If someone with Natural hair wanted to achieve the look it is very doable. The girl that sings the song "music" always blowdries her hair to achieve the same look. I wonder if they put some type of hair spray to get it to stand up at the top.

To the OP, I think any way it goes, her hair looks natural. If you are feeling it, you might want to give it a shot b/c even though her hair is a wig, your hair might still look like that or something similar. Good luck with whatever decision you make:grin:

Yeah they only sell cheap hair at the store. :look: Are you talking about Leela James? She blows her hair out. I think it depends on your hair. If I blowdry my hair, it straightens too much and it'll flop over. That's why I said to do the braid out. That way she can have the stretched out fro look but still have some curls in there. Like Jill Scott's hair in the video was a fro, but there were still some curls in there. Leela James hair is usually blown almost straight. The waves/curls aren't in there. Do you see the difference in the two pictures?

I just found this on her website from a recent appearance... Was her hair like this when you saw her Ms. Jellie?

More weave/wig pictures - These are from both the Why Did I Get Married Premieres (One was in NY/The other was in LA) which were a few days apart if I'm not mistaken...Notice that both of these are two totally different colors and textures.

That's who I am talking about. I love her hair. I blow dry my hair and then do twist outs to give it more volume.

Well, I can't really see that much of her hair underneath the hat but, that is the color it was at the show so, my guess is that's it.

Real, fake, half and half or enhanced, jill scott's hair looks nice:yep:. And its not even that long for it to "not be hers". I remember in the "gimme" video she has her hair in a puff and it looks like if straightened it would be about APL. if i was a celeb, PASS ME THE LACEFRONT:lachen:

Her hair is beautiful! If I can get my hair thick and full again, I think I'd give up the relaxers and rock that style!

Exactly. Jill wears a wig, but this is one of the looks that naturals can achieve easily and effortlessly :yep:
It's all in the cut.
