I recently have been getting my hands on some cosmetic chemistry textbooks and some hair science books. There are some more that I want but they are extremely expensive, especially since I am not using them for school or anything. My question to you is what more would you like to see or find out. I am working on putting together a silicone guide now but it will be awhile before that is done. What other things would you like to see? This will help me determine what other books I should look for.

This sounds interesting...what are our options?

Maybe I'd like to see something on how much moisture can really be absorbed into the hairstrand and how much is too much? Is it better to DC wet or dry? Anything regarding moisturizing or conditioning the hair interests me.

Thanks!

If theres any more information about what makes textures different, curl patterns, cuticles ect. ect.
And if they say anything new about what is healthy for the hair, what damages (especially the cuticle), anything about chemicals, heated appliance :yep:

I've never thought of this though...Are you talking about college library/bookstore? They have hairbooks their? (I noticed you were going to pharm school in my other thread, so am i after these 4 years, i look at all the hair stuff in my science books lol, but never thought to go to the darn college library/bookstore)

Thats a good one. Thanks for your input. As far as the options go, it will just be what ever I can find out there in terms of resources.

I have been getting them off amazon and other websites. The one I really want now is like $220 :look: Yeah, I am applying to pharm school next fall but lately, I have been thinking about looking into cosmetic chemistry for real for real

Gym I want scientific info on relaxers. Are you checking half and ebay for your books too? I saw some cheap ones on both sites when I was searching for textbooks a month ago.

Someone posted some info on another board about glycerin not really being a humectant. The site they got the info from stated that it just coats the hair shaft and really doesn't absorb moisture. If you could find out something about this, I'd appreciate it! Ooh, also there was something else about castor oil being a humectant and not really and "oil" per-se :drunk:

I am still researching but I think I would be good at it. Ya know, no matter how much technology companies seem to develop in haircare, I still feel like they don't have enough of "us" giving them feedback about their final result.

Something about coarse hair, hair with low porosity and anything about moisture would be nice.

I agree; when I read the title of this thread, I knew it was you, gymfreak, before I even looked. You are so knowledgeable about hair that any info you give us is gonna be awesome and useful; you go, girl! :yep:

this right here  also how to treat hair with low porosity tendencies would be great too.

i think this is why my hair never relaxed straight but it's something i really need to deal with now that i'm natural.

thanks gym!
