Hi

I wonder if someone can give me any information.

I wish to purchase some products from Hairoil.com.

I've tried ringing and emailling but keep getting various error messages and email returned back to me.

Does anyone know if this company still functioning?

I don't know if they're still functioning or not but the last time I called I was too through with them. I used to be die hard Wanakee a.k.a Verifen Complex now. To avoid paying retail, I had my stylist at the time sign up with them so that I could get the professional discount. Once he signed up I would just use his customer number & order that way & have the products sent directly to me. Well I hadn't ordered in a while & decided to call in & place a new order. Well 1st they claimed they couldn't find my stylist in their system b/c I didn't have the customer number on me. Then they started telling me that the discount was no longer the same & then when I asked what the new discount was they started giving me the runaround & wouldn't be specific. Well I figured it was b/c I didn't have the customer number. So while on the phone w/them I dug it up but they still were like we won't know what your discount is until you order - the discount just depends on the order but there aren't any set rules. Bunch of bologna! So I didn't order & I was so disappointed b/c they obviously have some new management & they're terrible. I really hate that Wanakee sold her company!

Nakialovesshoes: When was the last time you called?

The products are fabulous. They are my number one staples. They did more for my hair than any products in the beauty salon. My stylist was very impressed with the results. :dance7:

I hate that she sold it too. I was really impressed with EVERYTHING when she owned it. The products that were a little pricey but well worth it. Now it's more expensive and the customer service sucks. I loved the Constant Care For Ends.

Back in early 2000, I called late at night to place an order on their automatic system, and to my surprise Wanakee answered the phone. While we were talking, she never mentioned anything to me about selling her business or how things were going. :nono: She told me to "spread the word," and that's how our conversation ended.

A few months later, I received a letter in the mail about the name change.

First let me say this. I realized after I reread my post how it may have appeared. I have dealt w/the company since Wanakee sold it. The 1st set of people that took over were great. There was always this same guy (Jeff may have been his name) that would answer the phone & deal with the orders. Never had any problems with him. Then since I've been on this board - the last 6 months - I tried to revisit Wanakee. (Never saw any better results than what I saw when texlaxing & following this system.)
Like you, my stylist was very impressed - that's why he didn't mind signing up so that I could get the products cheaper. Oh well...someone please keep us posted as to whether or not they're in business. I still may order some products. It's just that after getting them w/the professional discount, it's hard for me to actually pay regular price.

Wait a minute... what happened to Beverly Johnson? I thought she owned it or atleast was on the website for a while....

OT: Does anyone know what Wanakee's doing now?

According to Alan, the president, who bought the business from Wanakee, I was told that Beverly endorsed the product line to give it more publicity since their ads no longer appeared in Essence, Ebony or Black Hair magazines, and products weren't selling as anticipated from the beginning.

Later on, they were trying to get the products in the beauty supply stores and hair salons in larger cities across America to increase sales volume--but to reach the small towns and isolated places, mail order is better since everyone has access to it without leaving their home or town. Then around 1997 their original website was created, and it was fabulous. :woot:

Some people didn't want to pay for shipping since the products were expensive to begin with. I told them: "It's really good and worth the price," but I didn't know that there are good substitutes out there once they are "doctored up." I was totally ignorant back then, and I believed in them because they really tame my type 4 a/b navel-length or below the bra clasp hair. Then some didn't want to wear their hair in "protective styles." :nono:

Then some customers were turned off, because they knew Beverly Johnson was wearing a weave or wig the whole time. They didn't like that because that wasn't setting a good example;:naughty: whereas Wanakee's natural hair was featured throughout all the advertising.

A few years later, they kept asking me to send pictures in--but I told them I didn't have appropriate pictures to begin with. Later on I sent in three sets that I thought would be appropriate, since I never thought about taking comparison shots to begin with. One set was lost in the mail, but they posted four photos from the remaining two sets that arrived.

Years later, I stumbled across this and a few other hairboards and I told Alan that I would spread the word. None of the Verifen products need doctoring up, so you save a lot of time on your hair--plus they are concentrated. A little goes a long way. In other words, you don't have to add any oil, honey, glycerin, shea butter, etc., or anything to them. Nor do you need to do a hot oil treatment, pre-shampoo treatment, conditioning wash, etc. Just use them straight from the jar or bottle.

How are you doing? I don't mind responding to long PMs, so its okay for people to be long winded with me.

I think you should stick to the regimen and products that work best for you and do your own hair. Most people who have long hair on this forum do their own, because they don't trust stylists. Also, a referral from someone who has long hair might be helpful. I always refer friends, relatives, neighbors, coworkers, etc., to my stylist.

Currently, my hair is uneven. The right side is slightly longer than the left, but it doesn't look bad according to my friends and stylist. I believe this is because my stylist trims it in a "V" shape. When it grows out, it becomes uneven or maybe I give more attention to the right side than the left. Nevertheless, my stylist says it's healthy. My hair is below bra clasp or navel length.

I trust my stylist. I've been going to him since 1990, and I believe in what he says. He doesn't agree on trimming my ends regularly, :nono: because he said that would be cutting away the growth. I don't debate with him, because his customers have longer, thicker (waist length) hair than the other stylists' customers. He trims off an inch once every 18 months, because he said my ends are always healthy so there's no need to trim it every few months as Wanakee recommends--since I wear my hair in protective styles 95 percent of the time.

Nor do I oil my hair everyday, because I don't have time. Once a week is the best I can do, and I do it thoroughly. I don't have time to be in a salon every Saturday, so I go once every two weeks. As you can see, I don't follow Wanakee's recommendations by verbatim, but I believe in what she says. :superbanana:

I would like to create the formula for Verifen's Complex products (especially the shampoos and conditioners) just in case these products are no longer manufactured. My stylist said I would have to go to a chemist. However, he recommended some good substitutes--which has given me the same results for a lot less. This website has been very helpful, too.

I haven't learned how to post pictures on this website yet, so the only hair pictures I have on display are at www.hairoil.com. Just click on the "Testimonials" and "Before and After" tabs. I'm Barbara from Beverly Hills.

Oh is that you Barbara?...You look very nice. Yes, I guess your hair would be navel length as it was pretty long in 2002. Your stylist sounds pretty good b/c not too many people speak highly of their stylist.

Is your hair natural or relaxed?

TIA

Yes it's me, and thank you for the compliment. My hair is natural. :yahoo:

Yes it did Coffee. Thanks.

After reading your post, I decided to place an order. I recieved a confirmation email like you but, also a returned mail which made me think the company had gone bust. :wallbash:

Just when I thought all has gone bad, I recieved a email from Hairoil.com about the shipping cost. For the UK girlies, the ends and hairline cream shipping for both products are $12. Not bad.

They need to know that their customer service is $%^^&.

I emailled Hairoil.com about my numerous attempts to contact them.

He said that he handles all shipping and orders. Also, there is no cover if he is out of the office.

Oh well, that explains it. :nono:

Thought I share....

Does your stylist press your hair with a hotcomb or use a flatiron? Your hair looks very healthy!

I've been going to the salon most of my life. I'm sure that's why it looks healthy. My stylist presses my hair with two hot combs.
