Seriously......why do we insist on using Andre's system?

Since the book came out it seems like there's a new sub category of the elusive type 3 or 4 (a,b,c,d,e,f,g,........z) each year.

Why don't we use something else?

Or make up a better system here at LHCF or something?

Andre's (flawed) system was the first way that a standardized way to typify hair was published. So its what sets the standard. I'd prefer if he made afro-kinky hair type 1 ( just cause AA hair seems to fall last on everyone's list)

i don't know why i can't shake the image of andre and opfry sitting in the green room just a'laughin their butts off at how seriously folk have taken his system.

andre: i don't know what to do with it besides burn it half to death or cut it all off to make go away so i'll just throw all yall with "that" kinky stuff into the back of the bus.

oh, sorry you're right there are 2 different kinds aren't there so let's make that 2 buses.

oprah: sounds perfect andre. go for it!

sorry just a little jokie-joke..........sorta :ohwell:

I like the LOIS system - it's MUCH more definitive....
It doesn't really help me much because I would have to use all letters and then some to describe my hair.
Someone here said that expanding type 4 would be a good idea to include more forms of coils, curls, waves and even straight pieces that are all type 3-4 tough.
For me that would work much better:yep:
