That's the dance I was doing in the showa when I used a shikakai shampoo bar for the first time. I didn't know these ol hips could still move like that, of course I won't be walking tomorrow :lachen:! I love the way it lathers up and cleans, for me, it's going to be a staple!!

I like the title of your post! The story is cute 'n funny. Which shikakai shampoo bar are you using? The orange one with the lady on it?

:lachen::lachen::lachen:. Too cute.. I guess Im not the only one.
I love Love Love the Shakakai Shampoo Bar. I use the Ayumix one and I was ooohhhing and haaaaaing this afternoon. SO had to come in to see who was in the shower with me . Man like someone said its like I have an armor on my hair. I lathered up three times. Each time I parted the hair in sections and ran the bar in the parts to get the Scalp. I DCed with Capilo avocado and put it in a bun. I applies a lil moisturizer and seal with Jojoba oil later. My 30.5 weeks Post relaxer hair is behaving.

can someone tell me exactly how u use your bar. i had a not so great experience with it but i think i did all the wrong things. do u have to oil ur hair up? do u have to let ur hair sit under the water for a longer period of time?

I'm so glad you posted this b/c I'm sitting under my bonnet dryer now after using the Aritha and Shikakai as a tea rinse. Then lathering up with the red Swastik Shikakai, I was surpised how much it lathered!!! My hair felt squeaky clean. Then I deep conditioned with ORS Olive Oil and Coconut Oil and was shocked as I combed it out for my rollerset. Can we say virtually no SHEDDING!!!! :yep::yep::yep: Yes, we can!! LOL

Dh said, "Man that's an improvement already, you usually have hair everywhere!" My hair feels great!!

Poochie167-- I don't know if it makes a difference as to which brand bar you have, but I prepooed with Amla and Coconut oil first on Thursday and Friday. Today, I rinsed out the oil first, then I did a tea rinse with powders and let it sit for 30 minutes. After, I rinsed the powder, I just wet the bar and rubbed it in my hands, when I saw how much it lathered, I put the lather and rub the bar into my head. It really didn't take that much before it soaped right up.

HTH!!

Where are you guys buying this bar? I'm going to treat myself to some new products soon and this sounds worth a try.

What's your recipe for the tea rinse?

Last night I washed with the swastika shikakai bar and left it on my hair a good five minutes before I rinsed and yes, I agree, strong, strong hair, but then I infused some shikakai powder (I put in the powder in one of my little drawstring gauze baggies) in filtered water in my potpourri crock pot for a couple hours to make a spray to use during the week (I used a few drops of tea tree oil and honeyquat as a preservation; I sure hope that works...) Anyway, I was getting ready throw out the stuff in the baggie, but saw that it had turn to gel, so I scooped it out added some filtered water to the gel and put it all through my hair used as a hair rinse. I left it on for a bit and rinsed. I pinned my hair up last night and threw on a scarf and went to bed. My hair was very hard this morning, but after wetting, it is soooooo soft, the tangles just fell out and my hair feels stronger than even after a hard protein or cassia treatment. I just put the goat milk yogurt in my hair....I am really liking this ayurveda stuff.

Nefertiti0906,
I put the Aritha and Shikakai powder, 2 tsps of each in my coffee filter and followed it with 4 cups of water. This of course strained it for me so I wouldn't have problems with the grittiness, then I allowed it to steep and sit for about 20 minutes to cool. I then rinsed my hair with the concoction and put on a shampoo cap for 30 minutes.

HTH!!!

No dance but boy oh boy:grin::grin:!!!!!!!! Shikakai bar is a wonder. I wet the bar, lots of lather, rinsed-{nice coated feeling as others have stated} then did a 10 en 1 mixed with some NEXXUS EMERGENCEE for 5 minutes, rinsed, shampooed with the shikakai bar again, APHOGEE MOISTURE BALANCE for 5 minutes, rinsed then a shikakai/tulsa water rinse followed by water rinse.
Squeezed out the water..next SALERM 21 leave-in topped with KEO-KARPIN oil.....resulting in SILKEN BUTTER braided tail. I am amazed at the difference the soap bar made to this 1 hour process.

Thanks!!!

I'm with you on this. I'm willing to bet I just have an old arse bar. I should have a better experience with the bars I just ordered because the pj in me does not give up easily. Shoot I want to do a happy dance too:lachen:

Nisha,
I searched online for the ingredients for the Swastik Shikakai soap and found none besides the uses and benefits. Judging by the Neem soaps and others they generally have a base of vegetable oil and are sold in 100 gm bars. Hope that helps! If I find more ingredients I'll let you know. I feel pretty sure there's no SLS because all of their products so far have been totally natural and herbal.
