I'm in I just bc'd today. I was natural already but i couldn't stand the straggly straight pieces left. I had a puff to:perplexed I'll post a pic later

NappyP you KNOW I'm in! I'll be BCing in less than a week and I'm sooooooooo exited. I cant wait to have my little curly twa that takes all of 5 minutes to style in the morning. My relaxer experience really scarred me, so hopefully this twa will be a breath of fresh air:grin:

I think I'm going to use MN and BT to grow it out....but I haven't totally decided yet.

HAPPY NEW YEAR LADIES!!!!!!!!! Cheers to long thick healthy afro's in 08'!

I just got my bt today and i've been using an mn mixture...(reveal Jan 3rd). I was thinking about mixing the bt and mn also. This would be my first time using bt, with all the positives I hear about it, I hope to get a double wammy!

I have been using EO for growth lately. Check out this link and recipe:
http://www.longhaircareforum.com/showthread.php?t=973

ALSO:

Has anyone found an all natural curl enhancer? Like S curl without the chemicals (alcohol,DMDM hytonation, proplyene glycol, carbomer, wax, etc)

I was reading reviews on Miss Jessie and Kinky Curly Custard and both were :nono:. Either too greasy or too sticky. I want something cute to add some variation to the TWA.

I read that wigs recede your hair line and weave cuts and causes breakage to your natural hair.

If I could just find a decent all natural cutl activator, I'll feel like a winner!

I'm in...tell me the rules please. I did my own BC, so I have unveven length all over my head. It varies from 2-4 inches and I'm not trimming until I get some more length.

ETA...I'll post a starting pic in a few days.

Well, has any one checked out the essential oil hair growth link or know what I can put on hair to make it curly using the ingredients I wrote about above?

 Okay I'm officially in!! BC Thread

So last night I did a 2 min Aphogee protien treatment followed by a castor oil co-wash. Then made a mixture of MN and BT, which was about 1/2 cup of BT and a tube of the generic Longs brand 7 day MN cream. I added a touch of almond oil as well (I wanted to add some lavender oil but I'm all out) I massaged it in for about 10 mins. My head didnt hurt but it started itching a little. Do you think I used enough MN? This 1 tube will probably last me 3 weeks. Maybe I should add another tube?

So after that I used ORS lock and twist gel, mixed with a little care free curl and I put my twa in it's first set of twists, tied it up and went to sleep and let it airdry overnight. The results are pretty good for a first try :)

I'm going to try to keep this style up for a week, adding the BT MN to my scalp twice a day w/massage.

Does anyone know where I can find one of those head bands with the long teeth? They look like regular headband but have combs that extend in the opposite direction of your face.

I'd like to wear one to invent a "puff".

I found this at a bss store.

How is everyone doing? I am doing wonderful, even though I am Texturized, I still have a Twa, well I guess you can call it that, because it is still so short LOL!!!! My routine is still the same as when I was Natural, I don't Co- wash daily, maybe every few days, I got nothing out of daily Co- washing. I also love oiling my hair with Vatika oil and let it sit for about an hour or so with my plastic baggy on before I cleanse because it makes my hair so soft and my scalp moisturized, it also helps my daughters dry flaky scalp & dandruff too, But other than that, nothing else. My edges are doing great, but I have always had thin edges even when I was natural after a few months they would thin out, so I am babying my edges.

Anyone else has anything to add or done something New?

UPDATE: I haven't been co-washing 2x week like I used to but I started MNing everyday. I've been sick for the last 2 weeks and been really tired. MNing doesn't take a lot of energy

NappyParadise, I have been doing some new things:
  1. Essential Oil blend for growth daily.
  2. Moisturizer with Oyin's Greg Juice and castor oil- (looks like l have a wave nouveau or processed curl. My hair shines like never, ever before.
  3. I apply castor oil to the scalp in the am, and my EO blend at night.

Dlove I use to be in love with Oyins Greg Juice but I couldn't stand the scent after awhile, But next week I am gonna order her Juices N Berries, because that spray is wonderful and it has alot of great Nourishing Ingredients!!! I am glad to here you have a simple routine:grin:

I'm almost out my Oyins. When I'm finish up the bottle, I am going to use a rosewater (a great humectant), glycerin, and honey mixture as my water based moisturizer and continue to seal with castor oil.

I know it's a little late, but I am in. I recently took the big plunge and did the big chop and i am excited to see how much new growth I can gain. I am completely natural though, so I don't know how much length will actually show in six months, but it's worth a shot. I will post pictures soon. Good luck everybody!

(((((NappyParadise))))) W00000000t!!!! My first challenge LOL Thanx gurlie!!! Now, I didn't see any rules, so what do I do LOL? Can ya tell i'm excited?!?! LOL:grin::grin:

I finally made my shikakai oil and I try to prepoo with that one or two times a week. Using this allows my hair to airdry soft without any additional product. Otherwise, I can only get my hair like that by using Giovanni Direct as my leave-in. I'm also experimenting with various oils and butters for sealling.

What is Twa?

I'm in. I had already decided to give my hair a break until June 2008, so count me in!

Like you, the relaxer (texlax) ate up my edges, nape and some of my hair. My hair HATES chemicals. I honestly don't wanna be bothered with pressing my hair, but I guess I will if I want to have some hair.

I'm just thinking about ALL the progress I could have made over the last two years if I hadn't tried this relaxer or that one. OH well!!

Cant wait to have some healthy hair up here!
I'm in the same boat with you, although I lost 1 year's worth of growth after a relaxer. I'm done!!!

I wanna join, I wanna join!! I was brave and did a BC 12/20/2007 after getting a relaxer 10/3/07. I had some health related challenges with my hair in '06 it started to grow back in '07 and I thought it would be a good idea to get a relaxer again to help (tame it) well I helped it hop down the drain... It appears I can't do relaxers anymore. So I decided to cut it instead of dealing with shedding hair.

I'm currently unoffically on the wig challenge as well. I feel so good about my hair since I cut it even though it's really short. I can't wait to try out different styles with it natural. I haven't worn it natural without braids since college, and I'm not going to say how many years that is...:look:

The great news is that my hair is growing growing growing!! I'll take pics and post them here...I was to shy to post them anywhere else...:look: But we need progress pics don't we, they are actually a great thing.

I co-washed my hair and put Elasta QP mango butter on it while still wet, and it is drying with the cutest little ringlets and waves in it!! I can't wait until I get some length....my curls are bigger than I thought! I'm definately a 4a with come 3c in the front!! Who knew? I promise to take pictures soon, I've been working a lot of hours and I barely have time to post.

I know the key for my natural hair will be to keep it moist. I know it love loves loves glycerin...it's kind of messy but it keeps it moist and keeps it from breaking most of all. I'm loving the butter as well. I have som Shea butter I'm going to try with the next wash...

LOL!!! You are very excited:grin: No we don't have any special rules! Just keep us posted and we will post progress pics. In march I think! I already have some progress, but I won't put up my pic until March, because I am also on the LHCF BootCamp and we check in every 3 months.

Well I had to do a Corrective on my Texturized Twa Last Night & I Applied a Jet Black Rinse and my hair is looking so Purdy!!!! But I still have shrinkage and dryness issues just as when I was Natural, So I keep it moisturized and Co-Wash like every 3 days. But the Twa is growing!!!

But Next Month I will Detoxify my scalp with a Clay mask, it is very good for your scalp! I usually do it Like Once a Month but I missed this month!!! It is like clarifying the hair but the focus is more on the scalp!!

So Ladies Be Ready To Post Progress Pics in March!!!!

Ohh, what type of clay mask do you use for your scalp?? Is it a special scalp mask? I read that egg yolk wisked with honey and olive oil is great for the scalp because of the sulfur in the egg yolk and the mositure properties of honey and olive oil. I want to try it but I always forget to take the egg out of the fridge ahead of time...lol I don't like my scalp cold !!

Im in:grin: My hair is big enough to puff but not to put into a little pony tail so that what Im aiming for.

Deep conditioner UBH 1x a week
Moisturize with UBH/coconut oil 2x per day
Viviscal vitamins 2x per day
Growth aid: MTG 2x per week

Heyyy!!!! I use the Rhassoul Clay! You can get it at www.fromnaturewithlove.com
It is cheaper to buy your own clay and it last longer, you can mix it with Distilled water until it looks like pudding, then you part your hair and apply it to your scalp & hair to Detoxify it, Leave it on for about 30minutes. But no longer because you don't want it to be Completely dry. then you rinse and condition or you can shampoo after the clay and condition, it is up to you. It is giving your hair & scalp a "Hair Spa Treatment"

Doing it once a month is great!!! Or every other month, The clay is also good for your skin, so you can get a couple uf uses with the clay!!!!

P.S. When I Do This Spa Treatment, I Purchase 1-2 Gallons of Distilled Water from Wal-mart for like 69.cents each. Because I have Hard water and when doing a Spa Treatment I want Fresh Clean Purified water!! I only use One Gallon if that because I hardly have that much hair LOL!! You can warm up the water in the microwave for rinsing if you don't like it cold:yep:
