Ok I am reading and reading and am so confused so please make it easy for me.

Which products are you using on your hair and for what result.

I will start Saturday massing my hair with warm oil before pre-poo but I am interested in shampoo bars and how are you using the powers more than anything else

TIA

Yes, I would like to know too!
I just did a search on Ayurvedic products and everyone seems to love them. I would like to try the Shikakai bar and Vatika Oil.

The thing is, I went to www.hairveda.net and it indicates that they are "Closed."

Where can you purchase these products from a reputable company online?

As always, thanks ladies.

Throw me in that mix too! I know Candy C has a booklet coming out soon and I think if you puchase one of her products, you can get it for free. I will get it when its ready but I wanna know now too. Good thread!

I use the Shikakai powder (a cleansing agent), mixed with cocunut oil, and amla oil to wash. And I use amla, coconut, and vatika for prepoos and moiturizing. It really depends on which I can get my hands on first. But I'm noticing more of a shine and silkiness when I moisturize and then air dry with coconut oil.

Ra, my hair has never felt so soft and maneagable. I'm starting to think that it may be changing my texture too because I'm texturized and about 8 weeks post. I'm having no problems.

The only reason I'm not using the amla powder is because I can't seem to get it at any of my local markets. I probably need to go to the Bronx. I'm not sure where people are buying them online but Candy_C is selling a Shikakai and Amla powder mix. Can't wait to get my hands on this!!! She's also adding other powders to her site. I'm not familar with the bars though.

there is not set rules-
some use oil to wash, some just powder or rinse as wash, other use shampoo or bars with this product.

here is my mine-
twice a week
I pre-poo with amla oil (love this been using it fot the past 7-8yrs), i dont use heat. just leave it on for about1-2hrs.

then wash with poo- I want to try aritha powder once a week for this purpose (but as a rinse dont like the paste that much), instead of twice a week poo. The plan is to pour the rinse all over and gently massage the scalp. will let you know how it goes.

I then apply amla and brahmi rinse- 1 tbs of amla, 1 tsb of brahmi powder, add hot water (about 700mls) mix vigourously let brew for a while (15-30 min), then mix it more then seive, this makes my rinse. I usually have my rinse ready before getting in the shower. I put the rinse in another bowl of hot water to keep it warm.
I pour this over my hair gently and distribute as evenly as possible, leave on while I wash body etc. The rinse with loads of water, dont manipulate or detangle.
I deep condition with moisturising conditioner.
style as usual.
amla and brahmi i use biweekly- keeps my hair strong yet moisturised- I havent used protein in the last 2 months (started regimen 3 months ago).
No need for weekly protein.

I also want to try cassia- for the strength and shine- will be using this monthly, if i like it.

you give it a try. What i did was to read about effects of the herbs online and i made decision to try amla and brahmi, and not other herbs like shikakai, neem
I will suggest reading up on these herbs and decide which you want to incoporate in your regimen e.g neem is good for dandruff so if you have this issue add it to your regimen, brahmi is a strengthen and scalp stimulant so hence the reason i like it, amla has conditioning and darkening prpoperties etc
HTH

I do not have the powders yet but I do have the oils. I use the Shikakira oil as shampoo. I put in on my scalp and really message it good with my fingertips and then put a plastic cap on and wear it as long as I can today its been on since 6:30 am. and then I get in the shower and rinse it off and add contioner and go I love how shiny my natural hair is. How it holds twist I wear my hair in a curly fro right now and I twist the front and take it out a few hours later and the curls are fantastic. Its a keeper I can't wait to get the powders and do the rinses for now I have both shikakira and amla and I use them together for my shampoo but sometimes just the shikakira oil by itself. My hair is really stronger. its only been a two weeks I do not know if I have growth as I stopped checking

Are any fine haired ladies using the oils to wash? My hair gets weighed down very very easily, so I'm wondering if this is not for me.

ypu can make rinse with powder instead. I only use oil as prepoo and i usually shampoo this off.

I only use one item...well two if you count henna but I've been that for over a year.

The new item I am using now is Vatika Oil that I infused with shikakai and amla powder. So now I have a homemade Vatika, Shikakai, Amla Oil. I use this to massage into my scalp and I also apply it to my hair. I also use it as a prepoo the night before my wash day.

I initially wanted to try the tea rinse but after the prepoo and wash with Aveda poo, I loved the way my hair felt so I didn't feel a need for a tea rinse.

After I poo, I just apply my Aveda conditioners as a leave in and oil and set my hair to dry.

Angie

You can send her an email @ [email protected] she's currently on medical leave but she says she can handle the small stuff.

I love Vatika oil and I have some of the powders. How did you make your infusion? Do tell!! Did you warm the oil and the powders in a slow cooker? for how long? Then how did you strain out the powders or did you just leave them in there??

I want to do this today!! I did the BC last night so it's on with the natural hair care, so any tips I can get please pass them along  Newly Natural!!

I oil rinse/wash and my hair is fine AND thin. I love it especially if I am airdrying afterwards. I use EVOO or Amla or a mix of the two if I need to finish off bottles.

It makes my hair have weight and adds shine and helps prevent snapping.
My hair feels luxurious doing this.
