I know I keep complaining but I don't know what to do
I take care of my ends
I deep condition weekly
I don't use heat
Moisturize daily
ACV Rinses (porosity test was kind of positive)
I feel like I hear it pop every time I comb it
So much shedding
Even when I wash it I can feel its dry when its WET
Imagine that?

More suggestions please

I would do like keraphix or aphogee treatment but i'm afraid of protein, i don't know if my hair likes it

I've been here over a year and I just want progress of my hair texture and condition rather than length

Maybe incorporate some heat into your routine?? Just don't overdo it and use heat protection.

My hair seems to behave better since Ive starting sitting under the dryer instead of airdrying. Its like it seals the cuticles so it really seems to help. Also incorporating henna and vatika oil seems to be helping significantly.

Your hair sounds like it needs more moisture than protein. What products are u using?

Don't do protein. That will not solve the problem. What products are you using for deep conditioning? Are you keeping the conditioner on your hair enough? Setting under a hooded dryer or wrapping in a warm/hot wet towel will help.

I was in the same postion a week ago. All I did was a co-wash and my problem was solved.

HTH.

C/s'ing on wanting to know what products you're using.

Also, do you use a chelating or clarifying shampoo?

Humectress, Humectress,Humectress...please give it a try. Rollerset and hood dry your hair; it has made a world of difference for my 4a/b coarse hair.

It sounds like you have not found the right products for your hair. Dry hair usually means the hair needs to retain more moisture and dullness means product overload.

It sounds like you need more moisture and you also need to seal your moisture in with oil. Also, drying your hair with heat- either hood or with a comb attachment (gently in sections) is okay too. As long as you don't over do the heat. I had the same issue when I airdried, my hair was dull and tangled. I wish you all the best in finding what works for you:yep: HTH

I suggest taking one TBS of flaxseed oil each day and making sure you are drinking 1/2 your weight in ounces of water each day. The water will keep your hair soft and hydrated and the flaxseed oil will restore the shine. :)

I also agree about using a good moisturizer for deep conditioning such as Humectress or Humectin and sealing in that moisture.

Next time you wash, you may want to clarify first so you can have a fresh start. A little baking soda mixed with your shampoo is a gentle but effective way to clarify.

Have you tried Porosity Control? It's possible your hair is not able to retain the moisture, especially if it feels dry when it's wet. Porosity Control only takes about 30 seconds to restore your hair to the correct pH so it can hold moisture. After you wash and rinse, apply some PC to your hair, wait for the 30 seconds and rinse. Then you can apply your moisturizing conditioner to deep condition and it will "take" better.

especially if you are using a no lye relaxer. The chelating removes the mineral deposits from the hair, which cna make the hair very dry.

When my hair feels dry and looks super dull I put some Biosilk Silk therapy on it and it looks and feels so much better. Then when it's time to wash my hair I leave my DC on longer. I use miss keys 10 en 1 and I love that stuff. It really works wonders for my hair.

Okay so here's the deal

I WAS using Aveda damage remedy but stopped
I've been using Elucence MB shampoo and Aubrey Organics Condish
Daily I use NTM Silk Touch which I don't think is doing it for me
Was also doing S Curl and Stay Soft Fro........ eh

Bought some Kids Organics Shea Butter Moisturizing Lotion today and that seemed good

I think I may try porosity control definitely
Can I get that anywhere?

I do sit under a heating cap when deep conditioning
I also use a calcium removing shampoo now Olive Oil cream something by ORS I think

Does that help give you guys an idea?

During this time of the year I get out my humidifier. I also brought some Roux POROSITY cONTROL from Sallys.

Just the conditioner. I brought a small bottle for $1.89 but the larger bottles were like $8.99 for the shampoo and $10.99 for the conditioner. I'm just gonna try it out and see if it works for ME. If not then I'm gonna just start using Neutrogena Triple Moisture conditioner again.

Actually, I was under the impression (either SisterSlick or Supergirl) that hair actually needs protein to retain moisture. Hair that's lacking in protein can also be very dry. Others who might know more about this please chim in.

I have read this too. If the OP hasn't done anything with protein and none of the other suggestions work, maybe she should try a medium/light one like Aphogee 2 Min.

I do c/s on clarifying & the PC or ACV rinses could help if it's a porosity problem.

From what I have read, dullness signals product buildup and porous hair. A good wash with a chelating shampoo to remove product and mineral buildup should put you in the position to start fresh with ultra clean hair. Putting conditioner on hair that has buildup is counter productive and will make it seem as if your products do not work.

Next, Porosity Control to balance your hair pH.

The next step should be a protein with heat - I recommend silk protein because I find it to be especially effective without making my hair hard. Whatever kind you choose, protein with heat then rinse and blot hair dry.

The point of blotting is to absorb the excess water still on your hair after rinsing so the conditioner is not diluted - on with a deep moisturizing conditioner. The instructions should say to leave on for 10 - 15 minutes or longer. Under the dryer or heat cap again for as long as you can. Someone once wrote they go under for 10-15 minutes, reapply the conditioner and under again. i have found that this works very well.

Afterwards, rinse, rinse, rinse. Apply leave in and seal with oil. I recommend avoiding blow dryers and flat irons. Roller setting is best, but you can just put your hair up - not too tightly - and wrap it if you can keep the scarf on.

Skipping the chealting shampoo, use a mositurizing one instead, do this twice a week for a month. On the other days, do conditioner washes while showering, apply leave in and seal with oil.

Check your combs to make sure they are smooth with no seams, snags, or ragged edges. I have found that it is worth the money to invest in really good seamless combs, a denman brush, and good hair accessories (pony tail holders and clips) that do not have rough edges.

I read this method here somewhere and repeated it because I could not find the thread - it was about saving damaged, breaking hair. I used this on my daughter after a summer of swmming in the ocean and at the pool and forgetting to wash. her hair was desert dry and breaking - this method restored it. It's a time intensive method, but it does work.

I read this evening about using avocado - a very ripe one mushed and applied to hair to restore moisture and shine - maybe you can try that too.

Good luck.

Mixing porosity control conditioner with all my main conditioners has done wonders. Also Optimum Anti Breakage styling cream seems to give me good shine.
