Who does a wash and run?

That is, who washes their hair in the shower (conditioner wash or whatever) and just rools like that without any additional product?

Our Indian (forreal from India) and vanilla counterparts do this, and have a natural shine. Just wondering what this might look like if I did it. I'ma try it before I go to the car wash tomorrow and see what it looks like.

Anyone do this?

I cant do it without adding any additional products. It looks wild enough even with product. Its also very dry if I dont add at least a leave in for moisture and a styling product for definition. I did wash n gos all spring and summer this way. If it started feeling dry, a few sprays of carefree curl made it soft again. I got a lot of growth this way. Ill probably do it again next spring and summer at least half the time. Its getting a little too cool in the mornings (even in FL) to go out with wet hair.

Yeah, you have a point there. I was just wondering if we sometimes try "too hard" when all we may need to do is just "roll wit' it".

Yep, u CAN do TOO MUCH to your hair. I remember a time when I was trying every product someone raved about and I wasnt getting progress. My hair was still dry and breaking and I had no idea what the culprit was because I was just using too many products and messing with my hair too much. I honestly got more growth this year by sticking to the basics than I did when I was trying any and everything to make my hair grow.

Well when I left out of the shower it was smoothed to the back, by the end of the day I was rocking an afro. It was tangled, but not so much where I couldnt run my fingers thru it. I did not have any shine, just shenn. It was soft though Verrrrry frizzy.

ive done this many times. i still do. it looks pretty much like my hair product except it frizzys up much faster. (although sometimes frizz can be fun )

The first stylist I've ever heard say "don't leave the house without leave-in conditioner" was... um... vanilla. Their hair produces more oil than ours so it makes sense they don't need a sealant.

Point well taken. I've been wearing a braidout (by accident) for the past couple days. My bun has been giving me a headache lately (it's not tight either). Sometimes, my head needs a break from it I guess. So, I've been letting it loose in the middle of the day. This got me thinking about some other folk I see rolling into the office with wet hair.

Actually, the less product I use, the better for my hair. I get better curl definition and it is very soft with little or no product. When I start adding product, at some point I usually over do it and want to start all over! The only problem is, it will get drier faster throughout the day.

That is so me! Even when I apply product after washing. That's the only way I know to get good curl definition. It basically needs to go from almost dripping wet to 80% without any manipulation. I oil rinse and apply product to very wet hair, tie a scarf over the hair line, put a towel over my shoulder and finish getting ready. I leave the house just like that. In the parking lot at work, I take the scarf off, put a hair band on, push it into a puff and that's it. My hair is still very wet. I asked a coworker just the other day if I she could tell my hair was wet. She said it didn't look wet.
