How is the denham brush good for your hair?

They're not expensive at all. I have several of them and I'm super cheap. I got them on sale at Sally for about $5, but the regular prices were less than $10. Are you thinking of Mason brushes? I've seen some Mason brushes selling for over $150.

Thats the one I have (use it more often than the d4, I mean d3)
 
OK, I read this thread yesterday and I got curious and found my Denman that I never used before to give it a try and you ladies were right. I felt like it got all my shed hair out. Most importantly I was able to pull all my hair back in a small pony for the first time while wet because that brush took some of the bulk out of my hair. Im in love.
 
Which Denman are the 4a/b ladies using? I went to Sally's and the only one I saw was the D3 and the bristles looked really close together.
 
i use the D5. it has 9 long rows with 20 some bristle things in each row.

i like this one cause it's heavier than the other ones.

eta - my hair type is :perplexed but curly, coily and kinky works good.

:yep: Yeah, yeah, that's what I was thinking of - 80-150 dollars for a danngone brush!!! :nono: I can't do it!

I forgot to stop by the BSS too - was running late when I left work.

Someone was asking about a fine tooth comb and my head? I start with the really wide tooth comb, then go to the Jilbere, then my bone comb. To smooth out my parts, I'll take a rattail comb to it, and yeah, I can acutally comb about 3/4 of my hair with that. I have odd hair, where the roots are ALWAYS much straighter than the ends - so I can't pull a fine tooth comb through my ends, but I can get it there.....
 
I think I may need to get one of these. My hair is getting harder and harder to pull back into a bun. And the comb is just not cutting it anymore.
 
It is great for removing shed hair and on my detangled relaxed/new growth. As a natural brushes were my best friend. Relaxed, not so much.
 
You should definitely get a denman brush especially if you have natural hair. After I BCed, I always used a comb. When my hair got longer, the comb wasn't doing it anymore. I was skeptical at first to try a denman brush because I was scared it wouldn't get through my 4b napps but I tried it and fell in love with it. I only use it in the shower while I have conditioner in my hair. I love to use it after I take out my braids because it gets all of the hair i shed out from when i was in braids.

the only hairs i may see are shed ones, not broken ones and then it is rare. my denman does not pull my hair out. i went to sallys to get another one today and they are out. i'll order online.

oh, OP which one did you buy? i have the 7 row and i'm gonna get a 9 row.
then they have diff types for diff uses. this is what i have the D3:

The first few times I used mine I felt like it was pulling my hair out. I left it alone and revisited it a year and a half later and it worked great. IDK what I was doing wrong before but I love it now. It gives me the ability to get through my hair like a comb but it's easier to hold and handle because it's a brush. I have a cheapie Annie knock off though. Since I like it so much I plan on buying a real one soon.

I love my denman brush too. I learned about it from the ladies here and feel in love with it. I use it in the shower with a head full of conditioner to finish my detangle process and get rid of shed hairs. Love it and will not trade it for the world.
 
This thread made me go to the store and buy a real denman today. I bought the D3 it was 12.99 at the local BSS. I'm about to go wash my hair and test it out.
 
I loved my denman brush when i was natural. But my relaxed hair is much more fragile. I still use it in the shower to detangle once in a while when i have a lot of shedding. It feels great on my scalp. I have the D3
 
Since I'm currently transitioning, I am half natural, half relaxed. I absolutely love my Denman D3! I do have to be extra gentle when running it through the length of my strands because of my relaxed ends.

I really can't explain what makes this brush better. I'm 4a natural by the way. Anyways I can't argue with success. I do detangle with a wide tooth comb first but I noticed the brush really smooths the hair in preparation for styling.

Thanks for posting this pictures. I'm on a no brush rule. I think this is interesting and do not know which one I would use.
 
I believe my hair too short to use this brush. however, once my hair becomes longer i WILL add this tool to my collection
 
you can rip your hair out with a comb too. it's not the tool, but how you use it that makes a difference IMO. :yep:

I wonder if Sally's stopped carrying them because they were out when I looked the other day too....
