What color is your henna?

Hi all! I have a small pack of jamila henna...I was wondering...what color is yours? Mine was brownish. I thought it was supposed to be green? :\

It should be dusty, olive, green like dried basil or sage.

I have two packs of jamila that are both that color. :[ I wanted to try it, just to see if it would make a difference, but now I'm so iffy.


I don't know, should I not use it?

I don't think it's harmful, I'm just not sure it's fresh. There are natural variations in the crop from season to season, but I typically throw out anything that's reddish brown before I add the water. It looks like it's oxidizes already.

Oxidizes? To combine with oxygen I think. Girl don't start me lying. Oxidization is the process that allows the color to develop on your hair. I think what we call "releasing" is also an oxidation process too.

LOL. You've got it. It's the chemical alteration of the original product, or something like that.

So if it's turned reddish brown, it's basically no good. How long does it stay fresh?
