I just mixed up a batch of Jamila henna and added EVOO, amla and a warm water. I left it for 12 hours and now it is orangey-brownish in color. It was green when I left, it is safe to use? I would love to do it tonight, but now I'm not sure. Is this the way it is suppose to be. Thanks for the help!!!

The reddish color of the mix means the color has started to release, so yes its good to use now. I usually let mine sit overnight or about 12 hours too before I apply. I wish I was going to henna tonight too :(. Let us know how it turns out!

Thank you sooo much. I really need the conditioning effects, but I am also going to use indigo to cover my grays. I will probably sleep in this and get up early to wash it out.

Ditto on what Cleve_gryl said. That's the dye releasing. I wanted to henna my hair today, too.

Happy Hennaing! :)

yes I'm thinking about henna myself, let us know how it turns out please? waiting for you results and thanks in advance happy henna :D

I recently applied my first henna treatment and immediately followed it with indigo. It turned out great and my hair felt stronger...literally as I was rinsing it out. Be careful, it can dry your hair out so be ready to do some deep moisture conditioning treatments. :)

What moisture conditioner did you use?

TIA:)

I mixed honey, EVOO, coconut milk, and Nexuss Humectress and sat under dryer for about 15-30 mins...I have done this DC treatment a few times since then, and my hair is really balancing out now. By the way, love your hair La Flaca.

Once again ladies, thank you for all your advice. I am mixing up my conditioner and applying it as soon as my hour is up with this indigo. This is a very messy process, my shower looks like a mud bath. Is there an easier way to rinse the henna out?

Once again ladies, you've come through for me, your support is greatly appreciated. This is a very messy process, my shower looks like a swamp.... Is there an easier way to rinse this stuff out...LOL
No, really, I know somebody has probably figured out a better way to get it rinsed out without this huge mess. Let a sista in on the secret....

I LOVE HENNA, I think....:look: My hair feels much stronger, however I constantly battle dryness so I'm not sure if this is adding to the dryness issue or not. It does seem a little dry, but my hair is currently underprocessed and this is my battle. The color and shine is incredible!!!! I have a little bit of gray in front and after the henna the gray was a nice orangey/red...
Then I put the indigo on and waited for one hour. During this process I experienced a slight burning on my scalp in one area in the back. After I rinsed, it went away and I used the DC/moisturizing concoction which I slept in. I can't wait to do a hot oil treatment in 3 days. This morning it is amazing how much stronger my hair feels. Thank you again for all your help and support. Other than the mess this is a definite keeper.:D

From the research I did over the weekend on henna, the orange should oxidize in a few days (three, I think) and turn a nice red color. Now that you've put indigo on it, though, I think it'll show more like a red undertone in the sun.

The mess? Well, I read that either doing a henna "gel" or preparing the henna while it's in a makeshift teabag will help with the mess. You might wanna check out Fia's Mixes for more info.

Thanks, this post was right on time. I'm getting ready to do my first henna. My Indian friend told me to heavily coat my hair in coconut oil before I apply the henna so that it doesn't dry out my hair. I asked her if olive oil was okay and she said no, use coconut oil. So we'll see what happens!!!

Carolb21, let us know how your hair feels after the hot oil treatment!
