Ok, so my hair is a hot mess. It is shedding and breaking at insane amounts. and just when i wanted to get a relaxer...:wallbash:

I didn't understand why, until I realized that I think I was moisturizing it too much. So, I decided to give it some apoghee, and I just did so. However, i'm still seeing a scary amount of hair on my comb when i comb it, and my hair when wet, is still mushy and gross. The back of the apoghee treatment says it lasts for 6 weeks, but I was wondering if I should do the treatment again in a week instead.

I'm not sure if that will be overkill or not... how strong is this stuff, really??

WOW!! I'm really sorry to see that it didn't work! Did you apply it after shampooing your hair? Also, did you rinse it out after it was completely dry? Did you move your hair before re-wetting it?

What's your regimen? The hair's you're seeing are they with the bulb (long)- shedding; or short broken hairs? Also which aphogee treatment did you use the Hard Aphogee or the 2 min reconstructor?

I'll never try Aphogee products again! After my disaster in college. I was going to a regular hair stylist who I really liked and I asked her to try a really strong Aphogee treatment on my hair (can't remember the name exactly I just know that it had purple colored lettering) anyway it made my hair EXTREMELY hard and after I was put under the dryer and she washed it out my hair was coming out in handfuls until she rushed me back to the wash bowl and applied a carrot oil treatment!!!

Be careful with that line of products~

Aphogee is one of those products that has to be used PROPERLY. Once it hardens on ur hair it should never be touched and after being rinsed you have to follow up with a moisturizing conditioner and THEN comb out and what not. Most people who hate usually don't use it properly, if used properly its good stuff, but I can see how it could go wrong for people if they are not using it the way it was intended:drunk:-->Damage city!

I did...followed the instructions to the tee, didn't move anything, just shampooed, applied, sat under dryer for 30 mins sans shower cap, rinsed out, applied the moisture 2nd step thing, and yeah. thats it. seemed to have little to no effect :nono:

I used the hard apoghee...and the hairs i'm seeing are long hairs! :perplexed My regimen is usually shampoo with neutrogena triple moisture shampoo, then deep condition under dryer with the same line of conditioner once a week, airdry and use ors olive oil 2x a day and seal. And occasionally I"ll use elasta qp's anti breakage serum for protein, but as of late it hasn't been doing jack...so I tried the apoghee a week later, and it seems like its not doing much either! the thing is, my hair is really easily stretched and snaps easy so I thought it was a problem of too much moisture...now I'm not sure what the problem is.

When I do the treatment, I normally sit under for 15 mins on medium heat. However, I think the main think was using the 2nd step conditioner. That stuff is crap! I don't know why they even added that one as the second step. If you do decide to try the Aphogee again, use a good moisturizing conditioner and sit under the dryer for 15-20 mins after washing the treatment out. This should help!:yep:

Aphogee is very safe if used properly. I noticed in your post you said you sat under a dryer with a baggie. THe baggie was a definate no no. It says not to use a baggy. I know a treatment every 3 weeks will not damage your hair. Anything sooner than that and the hair wont be a pourous and wont accept your co's/moisturizers.

Also. When I use it. After thourougly rinsing out with lukewarm to cold water. I rince it with ACV and then I go on to a deep moisturizer wash out and apply my leave in oils and co's.

I had very bad shedding due to not even combing my hair for along time, to long out of embarassment to mention, now i can grip my hair and pull up and i see little to no hair shedding.

Hmmmm...Hothair, when was the last time you clarifyed? Buildup on the hair may be cause the problems.

Rei:look: I'm going to co-sign with WomanlyCharm I think you may need to clarify it may explain why the serum and other stuff's not working anymore. After clarifying do a regular DC and see what happens...

Whoops, sorry hothair! It was too early in the morning for me to be posting to folks! :lachen:

Do you mean you used a shower cap while sitting under a hooded dryer? Because if so...you weren't supposed to. You have to leave you hair un covered when sitting under a dryer. It takes time for the protein adjustment because you still have to also counteract the balance of all the moisturizing conditioning you were doing. When I use aphogee - i let it sit for 20 minutes under my hooded dryer which is the same as when i apply to clients and have never had a problem. Of course i do follow up with a nice rinse and a moisture conditioner and then seal off in a cold/cool rinse.

Also with aphogee- don't overdo it with the this professional product-because you can do some damage with it. I've seen it happen before to someone who didn't know how to use it properly.

Also , good idea to have clean hair free of all products - Clarify Shampoo - Aphogee Treatment and then Moisturizing Conditioner + Oil (don't have to add it but this is what i do)

1) Aphogee Shampoo

2) Aphogee Treatment

3) Allow Treatment to dry under hooded dryer, or with blowdryer, NO MANIPULATION

4) Rinse with NO MANIPULATION (I find that rinsing in the shower is best if you're doing your own hair)

5)a) (Optional) Use the Aphogee Moisturizer
AND
b) (MUST) ***Deep Condition*** w/heat 15-20 min, without heat at least 45 min with plastic cap

I agree with the poster that said, the moisturizer is crap. You must deep condition after using a heavy protein. I did an Aphogee treatment this past Saturday. I incorporated an oil-rinse after rinsing the treatment out, but before putting the conditioner on my hair. Love the results!!!
