I dont really have a set regimen right now. before i was bunning 24/7. My hair was longer but thin and uneven when straight. Now i just wash and go and leave it alone.
I have heard mix things about wash and go. For some it makes their hair thrive and others the opposite

Maybe stop wash and gos to see if you'll get over the hump to BSL and beyond

Maybe develop a regimen with healthy hair practices to keep yourself on track. If you notice something not working, eliminate it from the regimen

If you need help developing one. Look at the regimens here, Grow It Long 2025, and other threads for inspiration

Happy Growing :)

Hey Ladies,

I'll be posting in here sporadically for a few days. I'm really struggling mentally and it's causing me to skip days with my regimen. I'm just going to do what I can but I'll check in to get some motivation.
Take your time and don't stress. Stress is the worst for our hair. Do some yoga, relax, and come back when you're ready. We'll be here :)

Adding Growth Flaxseed Gel to regimen

Hey y'all! :wavey:

I managed to get a little energy today and I did my regimen. I also did laundry! A LOT of laundry! :giggle:

I Co-Washed with L'Oreal Dream Lengths Conditioner. It's really good with detangling but it left my hair feeling REALLY strengthened.

So, I counteracted that with the L'Oreal Hyaluron Plump Serum spray and then I went in with Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie (this stuff has NEVER failed me!) and I put my Super Wet gel on top.

I was taking a good look at my hair today in the shower...my medicine cabinet mirror faces the shower so I was able to see myself. My hair is GROWING. And all that talk about thin hair, I think it's because my hair grows as different lengths, which is why it grows in a deep V.

My sides are around APL and the back is BSL/MBL.

I also came to a realization that I've grown my hair to Waist length about 3 times and Hip Length twice and each time something happened when I got stressed out. I found an old post of mine on here where I said so was Hip Length and I forgot about it (I also can barely recall anything that happened in 2021). But I do remember my hair grazing HL for the second time around then.

According to my findings, it takes me 3 years to grow my hair to grazing HL. I am now in the third year of growing my hair from a pixie cut and I'm halfway there! So I'm definitely on track!

If nothing else, these old posts are great for reminding us of when and how we achieved our milestones.

I can't wait celebrate that HL hair with you. (Three times WL and twice HL!? Jelly!)

Posted from the Grow It Long 2025 thread:

So I just did my measurements. I think I can be scraping HL by the end of the year! I hope I did it right :look:

Current Length: around 26 inches on me (BSL/MBL)
WL: around 30 inches
HL: around 34 inches
TBL: around 36 inches

My hair grows around 0.75 inches per month, so by December I will have grown 6 inches putting me right above HL :weird:

I didn't co wash today. I think I'm going to let my hair rest. It feels really fluffy and strong at the same time.

I think I need to focus on using moisturizing products because the L'Oreal Dream Lengths is very strengthening and I don't want to have protein overload.

I think my hair is low porosity because of this, it's kind of sensitive to protein.

That would be awesome, let's be consistent to make our goals :)

I have not measured my hair before. Where do you start the measurement from? The nape to the goal length?

Thanks, I'm still not clear on how to accurately do it. I looked up a few vids

I guess I would use this for the front of my hair?

...and this for the back of hair?

...or would this be the most accurate?

For the overall length of your hair you would measure from hairline back.

If you want to measure the lengths of different sections you could measure each section like in the third video.

  • Real Roots (Sprouts Brand) Aloe, and Biotin Conditioner
  • Malibu C Hard Water Wellness Shampoo
  • Organic Whole Flaxseed
  • Fenugreek Seeds
  • Castor Oil
  • 7 Minerals Organic Aloe Spray ($19.99 for 12oz) May get again when Im in braids over the summer. Lakewood Organic Pure Aloe Whole Leaf Juice cheaper alternative and in glass bottle ($9.99, 32oz). Lakewood seens to be working well, it might be permanent replacement. Difference between the two is Lakewood is pasteurized and not sure how much enzyme activity remains. It is fresh pressed so hopefully that means some may still be there
I think they will carry me to WHIP length! :)

I don't have a favorite product right now. I'm liking the L'Oreal Hyaluron Plump set but it doesn't really "WOW" me.

I'm doing some research because I think when I use up all my products I think I want to try yucca shampoo and conditioner. I'm also thinking about exclusively using shampoo and conditioner bars.

I've also been eyeballing Redken, Aveda, and Kérastase.

I'm really interested in tallow. Do you use it as a leave in? That's how I would use it. How do you use it?

Tallow is my shea butter substitute. I use it to seal my hair in my LCO line-up.

I'm super heavy-handed, so after washing when I do my moisturizing and sealing routine, I will oil my hair with my herbal oil, then go hard on the tallow to make sure my hair and especially the last 4 inches are coated. My hair will sometimes look white or have white sections because it goes on a bit thick. But it melts down thinner than shea. Think bacon grease...thick and gunky, but warmed up it's really liquid. Since I tend to do this step at night, I'll sleep with a plastic cap on my head and everything is soaked in by morning. I won't add anything to my hair that day. By the next day, I can't really feel anything on my hands.

I'd be interested on learning more about which shampoo bars you choose and what you think of them. I want to start using some maybe quarterly, but I haven't done any research yet. Preferably, especially now, I'd like to shop and support local and not have to order from the US.

Is the yucca root shampoo that you're eyeing an actual shampoo formulation? I ask, because I just steep the dried yucca root and wash with it that way.

So far I've tried shampoo bars from Chagrin Valley and another site called Nightblooming.

I like the bars from Nightblooming bc they are moisturizing and smell pretty good, to me. I got both the Lassëa shampoo and conditioner bars and I actually like them. I was surprised how well the conditioner bars worked in my hair.

I also bought the Triple Moon oil from them and it's pretty okay.

I had seen some yucca shampoos on Etsy, both liquid and bar form. I want to try one of them. I wonder if the yucca is strengthening though? I don't like too many strengthening products on my hair.
