This is an issue, I'm sure, for many transitioners and those who wish to transition...what do we do with the hair on a daily basis??? So, please add your input :)

Texture styles are better for transitioning hair. I did lots of braidouts. I would also wear wet sets alot. I also liked wearing a bun too for interviews and meetings.

You want transition styles or natural styles to do after you transition?

I do wash n' go almost every day because I wash my hair either a CW or the full pre-poo, poo, condish, DC almost every day. However this is seasonal I don't think I would do this when the weather is cold. My plan for the fall/winter is to do mostly rollersets and flexirods. I tried both rollersets and the flexirods a few times over the summer to see how it looks and it looks good especially the flexirods. I'm on the fence about getting a Dom. blowout every two weeks for the fall. I have done some twistouts and braidouts were okay. I think if my hair was longer and in a blunt cut, I would do twists and braids more often.

That's a shame I marked almost every one of those...:ohwell:; I need to stop changing styles. When I'm lazy I'll do a pony puff, or puff. When I take my time I live off of twistouts and braidouts, and other times(like right now) I'm wearing my hair straight, but with the ends tucked away. Right now mostly protective styles like buns, and twists, but everyday it's a new fun style.

For the summer I do wash n go. For the fall/winter, rollersets with the roots maxiglided and flexirods sets. I may do a twistout or braidout.

A lot of wash 'n go's, ponytails or buns. Every now and then I'll rollerset and flatiron, but that's fruitless with the heat and humidity.

mostly leaving it alone. I CW everyday so I usually wear it like that after I get out of the shower, I picked puff but not sure if thats what I do or not. I don't twist or wear braid outs often at all. But I usually style it some way in the front and clip up the back and thats pretty standard. I have a wig on today and I plan to get a weave, it will be my first weave since I 2005. I am excited and scared at the same time.

Now?? Wash and GO's. 100%.

As I was transitioning?? HAHA - I tried it ALL:
1. For 6 months I wore Cornrows (would get them re-done every 2 weeks - and yes I have a job and work in Corporate America and yes they were ok as long as they didn't get fuzzy).

2. Then I got fed up and chopped my hair off at my chin (from bra strap length - as I was transitioning). And would flat iron it.

3. Then I got fed up again and went back to cornrows for about 5 months.

4. Went through 8 months of religious blow drying.

5. Then got fed up again and decided to give this stuff called "Curly Pudding" a try, based on a recommendation from Ms. So1913. And I've been washing and go-ing ever since.

AND NOW
Since then I've stopped using curly pudding because I've realized it helps reduce the frizz but does not hold curls well. In other words, if I wash and go with curly pudding on Monday. And then go home and go to bed on Monday night, by the time I wake up Tuesday morning, my curls are flat dead and lifeless. I've started using the Fantasia IC Gel (I've used both the regular and with Sparklites for color-treated hair - back to just using the regular one in the clear/white jar) and this holds the curls well without getting crunchy for 2-3 days. So I can wash on Monday and make it to at least Wednesday without having to wash again due to what I affectionately refer to as "Mop Head".

I protect my ends as much as possible, so I do mostly buns. However, I do wear a pony puff sometimes. I never wear wash & go's....guess I'm not there yet.

I haven't flatironed my hair since the spring, so I look forward to seeing how much growth I have achieved over the summer.

This is a good thread:yep:

I love my wash and go. I like buns but my hair always ends up really tangled so I don't do them that often. Other styles I like are ponypuffs, rollersets and (very rarely) flatironed.

Braided Beauty...that hair is beautiful!!!

I checked other because I'm just like I was when my hair was relaxed. I love to wear different styles.

I find I have just as much versatility but not enough patience so I do it all mostly twists and twistouts and puffs and free form fro's but from time to time I do rollerset on flexi-rods or perm rods. I would consider flat-ironing but only in the cooler months and maybe once a year. I'm afraid of too much heat and manipulation.

Right now I have my hair in about 6 cornrows and I am wearing wigs. I wash and deep condition once a week but I spray my head with water once a day. I plan on doing this until next year. But usually I would wear a puff or a twist out pinned up on the sides.

This little Wiggie went to market, this little Wiggie stayed home, this little Wiggie went............I'm loving using wigs as a protective style! This is so much more stylish, freeing and chaeper than braids or weaves.

My mood this months is my curly wig with french braids in the front.

Last month was long twists and flat twists in the front.

Next month? Who knows stay tuned.

I am debating staying in protective styling until December.

I haven't relaxed since last June but never big chopped, but I'm claiming natural anyway. I just started doing the occasional wash n' go this summer, but haven't gotten the nerve to wear one to work yet. For work, I clip my hair up into a curly ponytail or bun.

If I do my own hair I wear braidouts or an afro puff. If I get my hair done I wear twists, individual braids, flexi-rod sets, or get it flat ironed.
