Hey ladies, I relaxed my hair 1 week earlier than planned(11 weeks). I was hoping for more length but ...:ohwell:. It does appear thicker so I'm happy. Check out my fotki for additional pics its temporarily unlocked.

Gurl, stop playin'! Your hair is LONGER and THICKER!! And, it's GORGEOUS!!:love: It looks to me that you're at APL. What did you do to get there?

CONGRATULATIONS!! :yay::yay::clapping::dance7:

How is it going so far ladies any updates??
Myself, I have 3-4 more weeks before I do my touch-up to see how far I got....

I am thinking about just dropping out of the challenge. I just got a relaxer yesterday after a 3 month stretch and I feel like I haven't made any progress. I cried so hard on the way home from the salon because I am so frustrated. I don't even want to take pictures of my hair, let along think about it, and I sick of trying vitamins, growth aids, etc. with no results. It's so wonderful to see other people progress and obtain so much growth in so little time and I feel like I'm trying to play catch-up now.

Well Sham... if you're not going to cut it, it's going to grow, right? So at some point in your life, you're going to hit APL, right? So instead of enduring the wait alone, sit beside the rest of us slowpoke hair growin' folks and let us assure that it is indeed frustrating but your efforts are not in vain. We're not aiming for just long hair but healthy hair, that's well taken care of, reduced breakage and shedding. Even if you have 1/4 an inch of growth, thats progress. If you hair looks and feels better than it did, that's progress. If it's a matted clump of new growth, that's progress too! :lachen:

It's called a challenge because it will require strength and determination. Otherwise it'd be called an 'easy'.

Hang in there!

In other news, I am about 6 weeks out from my relaxer and my new growth is basically saying 'uhhhhhhhhhhh. no.' So I'm wearing protective styles right now. I'm gonna get a wash n' set next week and have them blow out the roots. I think I have a teensy bit of growth but I really feel like I am seeing big long pieces of hair everywhere so I hope it isn't all breaking off.

My thoughts exactly! Sham girl, take it from me getting from shoulder length to APL takes hardwork and determination. You will get there:yep: I was in your shoes about 6 months ago, but I stayed at it and surely enough it paid off. Please don't give up you aren't even half way through the challenge:nono: Here is a:sneakyhug:(hug) hope you feel better

Hey I just saw your post... well i didnt consider myself apl because when my arms are down the apl seems lower? idk... as far as my regimen I've been washing once a week, deep conditioning, air drying and then flatironing and thats it. I just pretty much leave my hair alone. Thanks for the compliment I was feeling a little discouraged after i relaxed...:ohwell:

Hey fellow challengers! I just relaxed a week ago and I'm like really, really close...maybe a 1/2 inch to an inch away. Wish me luck for being there by next month!

Lavendar, by the looks of your siggy pic, you have gotten there and are on your way to BSL:up:

It's looks to me that you're already APL! I'd say congratulations! But I know what you mean. It's better to be safe than sorry. But congrats are in order!:clapping:

Update: In June, I was 2 inches away from APL, I've recently checked my progress and I am now 1 inch away stretched. By december, I would like the nape of my hair to reach APL when twisted.......may not make it but a girl can wish, right??
My hair is currently in braid extensions and I am using Dr. Miracles Braid Spray.

This was from my touch up yesterday... I am hoping that by december I will go past APL, so when I finally get a trim, it will just a APL. Then BSL for April 29th.

Next Touch up mid december. (sorry about MASSIVE pic) and fat rolls...and messy room

Thanks for the encouragement ladies! These siggies pics can be so tricky with the arms raised to take the photos, but if I do pull on my hair it's a little past APL. I want it to be there waves and all! LOL I also am due for a trim and I'm taking off 1/2 inch on Friday. So I'm still sticking with October as my definite month for APL. Thanks for the support and meet you at the finish line!:drunk:

It looks like you're there even with your arms raised! But I know about being cautious! It takes me a minute to claim stuff too! HHG!

hey ladies, just checking in. How is everyone doing on the challenge so far? I'm going through some major shedding right now:sad:. I dont know whats causing it or how to stop :wallbash:so Ive just been wearing my hair in a bun and leaving it alone. if this shedding doesnt stop soon i will be bald by the winter...

I would really like to relax but it has only been about 9 weeks since my relaxer. I like to go 10-12. I want to go get a wash n' set but I don't feel like enduring the pressure to relax.

I'm doing well...no major setbacks or anything. i think i might take a pic of my wet hair when i shower tonight and see how much longer i have to go. its weird cuz from the side i def look APL and if i bring my hair to the front stretched i reach APL but when i take a pic from the back it still looks like i have another 1 1/2 - 2 inches to go :wallbash: :ohwell:

Check-in:

Well I'm not bald yet!:lachen:JK but I am having to get used to seeing my hair a little more "puffy" than I usually have it because I am limiting heat and resisting the urge to relax, I'm only 7 weeks post. Good news, I haven't been seeing all the shed and or broken hairs all over my shirts throughout the day so I must be doing something right. I've been rollersetting or rodding my hair once a week and DCing every time. My NG is so soft:grin:. I also started alternating been hair grease and my normal EVOO to seal. I know I don't like grease but it has helped keep the frizzes down and it keeps my hair soft. As long as I keep it off my face and scalp I should be okay. :yep: Next up Kinky Twist (I'll try to remember to post pics) followed by a touch-up sometime in Oct. Good luck ladies and stay motivated. APL by Christmas will be a great gift to ourselves.

Checkin in! I'm doing pretty good. Got a dominican blowout a couple weeks ago so I'll have to post my progress pics this weekend. Looks like I'm about an inch, to an inch and a half from apl. Just gonna keep hiding my hair until then, b/c it seems to be working. Good luck ladies!

Check in: Hey Ladies

I'm doing well also, still not APL but close though....
I was also shedding alot so I decided to do my touch-up at 12 wks and although the shedding stopped  I was dissapointed that I was not APL, but whatever as long as my hair is still healthy and full(thick) I'm good not gonna complain... My hair is a little underprocessed in the crown so I'll be doing a corrective but other than that everything is fine..........

I know Bella, I'm having that too. I really think it's my hair cycle though, and there's not too much I can do about that but keep an eye on it. I tend to shed more in the summer and hold on to a lot of hair in the winter. I'm gonna try the Alter Ego treatment in a couple of weeks if I don't see a change. Other than that, my hair looks and feels really great and doesn't appear to be thinning. If you are thinning you might want to try a garlic or protein treatment.
