While I was transitioning, I decided that if I ever wanted to be a straight natural, I'd use a hot comb. Flat ironing takes forever and my hair ain't even thick. I can't imagine what it must be like for people with dense thick hair. Also, I feel like the results are better with a hot comb.
My first transition, all I did was hot comb my roots and flat iron the length. One pass each. The only reason I didn't do it this time (3rd transition) was cuz I wanted to see my hair pattern with no heat damage. I don't blow dry or roller set because my hair is fine (though dense in some areas) and I can't take all the manipulation. And once I go through the trouble of blow drying or roller setting, that better be the style cuz I'm done!at home or a salon my flatiron takes at min 2 hours...my hair is denseeeee.....i finally have the length and never thought i would say this but i may go back to relaxers...the amount of heat I'm using is damaging my progress
when i rollerset my roots are still puffy a bit and need a touch of the flatiron even if i dont flatiron the length of my hair..if i were relaxed the amount of heat would be cut down dramatically...
i have all this hair but the heat needed to straighten every two weeks is damaging my hair...im at a crossroads....not sure if i can be a straight natural and not have severe heat damage...
and i need at least 2-3 passés of the flatiron to get the silky press....
What ever you do, don't get a BKT. The curls don't come back to their natural state and your hair will start breaking after a while.
im talking about the fact that i look like i have a cloud of cotton on my head and it is in no way attractive.
Wanted to check in with OP
What are your thoughts? I'm also at a crossroads for my hair
