I'm thinking of getting a new flat iron since my CHI keeps smoking when I apply it to my hair and it also snags my hair now. By the way, isn't the CHI flat irons supposed to have a temperature control dial on it?

Not the original CHIs. The newer CHIs, like CHI Turbo, have a temperature control.

I'm now deciding between the Solia,Sedu and Maxiglide... which one has a better perfomance??? I notice that navsegda's hair comes out really nice from using the Solia, but at the same time, pokahontas' hair is just as nice when she uses her Maxiglide...

Another vote for Maxiglide here. I just flatironed my hair with it for the first time yesterday and it turned out lovely -- straight, soft, shiny, and moisturized. I love the steam function.

The maxiglide doesn't get hot enough for me. I have the CHI turbo and it does a good job. I've had it 3 years and it's still working fine. I would prefer something thinner though.

wow really? That thing gets *hot* to me on 1. I've never used it past 4. The first time I used it on 4 I turned it down to 3 because that felt a little too hot.

Yup, yup and yup!!!

Maxiglide fo lyfe

I don't have any experience with the others, but I recently got a Chi from my mom who cut all her hair off and had no use for it...

I love the Chi..I don't even have to blow dry my hair before using it in order to get straight results.

I have the Turbo Chi that I use on my clients that's the one w/ the temp control. I also have a Wee Chi and a 1' Chi that I use on my hair w/o the temp control which is the professional version because if you keep it close the hotter it gets and if you keep it open the temp goes down or use a cool cloth.:)

yup yup yup, i love mine , i just did my hair tonight with chi, without blowing or anything, and at even a low setting got straight shiny results.

I wouldnt trade it for the world!

Maxiglide :)

I've also had a Chi but I like the maxiglide because I can get all the way to my scalp and not get burned.

It doesn't smoke on my hair.

It has an optional steam burst I use on my ends.

The outside of the plates are not hot, so I can grab it as I pull it down the length of my hair.

And it comes with a flat plate so I dont have to use the plate with detangling pins. !! ;)

I love my Sedu! i purchased the 1 1/2 inch one. I was so surprised cause my hair is natural 4b and it gets it silky straight and gets hot really really fast and i use fantasia ic hair polisher with it; my hair comes nicer than when i use the chi serum. the Sedu really cuts the bulk of hair and i have plenty hhaha it s good for days when i want the hair flat or a slick ponytail parted in the middle that s when i do my hair ultra straight. for regular days just my curling iron to keep the volume;) :p :D

I have a CHI and it is what I used for the picture in my siggy. I love it so much I am scared of it because its addicting to have your hair that silky smooth.

I am not exactly sure but I think that the solia and the sedu are from the same makers. But the sedu is more expensive, I don't know if its the same product with a different name. But they both have websites with similiar titles (www.soliabeauty.com & www.sedubeauty.com). And you can only buy both at folica. I don't know just makes me think a lil.

Go with a Sedu, I love mine!! I was not impressed with the Chi, but have never used a Maxiglide. I think the Solia and Sedu are very similar from what I have read. I am thinking about buying a pink Solia for back up(cuz I think it's too cute), I have had my Sedu a lil over 3 years and i fear it may no longer be with me soon.

Ok I've tried the Maxiglide and Sedu. I would say that although maxi gave me nice straight results, using it was a burden. That thang is HEAVY and my arms got tired quickly. I used my new sedu this weekend and I liked it better than maxi, it made my hair feel really soft and it had a nice sheen to it. Although I didn't get the results I desired because I am underprocessed I can truly say that the sedu was much easier to work with. I felt no snagging of my hair, no burnt smell, the room didn't fill up with excess smoke like it usually does when I use my other flat iron (Jilbere) and my hair was soft and very bouncy. THat's my 2 cents.

Ladies, I need some tips. What are you applying to your hair? I flat ironed last night and my aair looks a hot mess! I really want tips before I give up on my new iron! TIA!

bumpity bump

Maxiglide is on sale at HSN today and I can use a Red Door GC for a Sedu, so thinking about both. I am sure that their will be big sales on all 3 after Thanksgiving.

I have a sedu ALWAYS get a compliment about it when I use it on my hair or when I use it in the salon I work at.

The ONLY reason I didn't get a CHI b/c I went to folica.co and ALL the bad reviews about it were b/c of its durability ie didn't work AS well after a couple months; maye it was the particular model, but there were alot of negatives about each model.

maxiglide is great!!..until the ceramic or paint or whatever coating that is chips off! My plates even have a giant burn mark! :perplexed well..just waiting for my sedu now :drunk:

I really want to get a sedu, <no money + mother afraid i'll burn my hair out. (totally natural here<) So that is why I havent gotten it yet.but I really want one, I like the results i've seen.
