The natural hair movement should called the Planatation hair movement with all nappy *** African hair she see! I was baby bye, if you are ashamed of your Godgiven hair then it's something wrong with you. I told her you weren't born with a relaxer sweetie! Then I just walked away. I actually felt sorry for her little ignorant butt! I love my Godgiven hair and nothing no one says is going to change that. And yes she is black. :nono:

Every time I visit home in the south, I hear stuff like this. The last time I went in the summer, I was wearing my hair in a curly bun and one family member kept saying how pretty it was and how I've always had that "good hair". She said most naturals she encounter have "Color Purple" hair. I just smile and said thank you...she's in her late 60's. I don't have the energy to battle with or school people.

All I could was to look at her with pain and sorrow, because I just couldn't believe she said that but she said it twice. After the second time I said what I had to say and walked away shm! It's sad when black women feel like this but what's even sadder is that I never seen her have a good hair day. Her hair always looks like crap to me! I hope Monday I can take picture with her so y'all can see her hair!!!!!

We have our own people with such a mindset that is yet to be addressed. Yet, some are more concerned about welcoming others who know and will know nothing about these hair related issues. Smh

That's crazy! I'm relaxed and love seeing so many kinky haired naturals.

Oh well. Naturalistas, just keep up the great work and above all SHOW IT OFF! :)

^^^^ I'm also relaxed and thought about going natural at some point. Either way I loved to see the natural heads and the beautiful styles.

It's sad that in this day and age people still think like this. I feel sorry for her because ever since I've gone natural, I feel so liberated. No more touch-ups, overlapping, over-processing, burning, bald edges, buying cheap products that just cover the damage, or buying expensive relaxers. Does she wear a wig or is she relaxed? Because if she wears a wig regularly, then she's a lazy, nappy headed plantation whore who refuses to take the time to take care of her hair. There are just too many products out there for natural hair for her to be rocking a wig day every day. Please note: this comment does apply to people who wear wigs as protective styles].

Really, really sad. After I BC-ed, a friend (with a teaspoon of jacked up relaxed hair) told me she was too vain to BC. WHAT!!! You seriously don't have as much hair now as I have after my BC. WTHAYTA! She really acted like there was something to lose! I didn't want to hurt her feelings but...Wow.

You handled that very well. Sometimes I feel like there is no point in having a logical convo with people like that. What's the point in trying to win the argument when they have already defeated themselves?

Their days are filled with trying to hide their true self. It's sad.

But did she really mean that she sees a lot of naturals with "ungroomed" hair?

I'm in DC so we have a lot of fly naturals walking down the street...but when I go other places...

Reminds me of that ET thread of the Brooklyn woman being fired from Barclays. Everybody ran in and were like "h*ll naw!"

Then they posted her picture and everyone put their picket signs down and exited the thread LOL

The ignorance is thick but I'm not surprised. At least she is honest about her obvious self hatred and anti blackness. Please remind her that no amount of relaxer or flat ironing will stop those naps from growing back out every month. She can slather on the battery acid and lye but those kinks are there to stay so she better learn to love them. Even with the natural movement's popularity, certain hair textures are pushed as more desirable and beautiful than others. Many people still wouldn't wear their natural type 4 hair out without trying to disguise the texture or make their nonexistent curls pop. Then, you have those who won't give up relaxers, period. Many of us still have a long way to go before we accept ourselves how we really are.

What about the relaxed ladies with hair lines that begin behind their ears, tore up hair strands that are split from root to tip and hair that doesn't reach past their eye lashes? Is that considered groomed hair because it's straight? It's no more acceptable to have jacked up relaxed hair than it is to have jacked up natural hair so I don't see why she would feel the need to bash naturals as if there aren't relaxed heads walking around with busted, dry, apple pie crispy hair that's just 3 1/2 inches long. Not to mention the lack of edges.

Welp, as a battery acid slatherer , I still love naturals.

Are you serious with anti relaxer hate filled post???

There is nothing wrong with relaxed hair but she has no right to go around bashing naturals with the same exact texture that grows out of her own head, especially if her own hair is a raggedy destroyed mess. I meant she can go to any extreme to hide her own texture. Battery acid is sulfuric acid. Relaxers don't contain sulfuric acid. It was a hyperbole. Basically she can hide it under a hat, set it on fire or pray to God for naturally straight hair, but those kinks aren't going away.

My hair is doing just fine as you can see from the pics. Calm down. :spinning:

I agree with this and her response is a damn shame.

You are taking what I said way out of context. Everyone knows it's possible to have healthy relaxed hair. I didn't mean to be offensive. You have very nice healthy looking hair. There are busted up tore up naturals as well as relaxed heads however she is acting like only naturals go around with parched tore up dusty hair.

I work in downtown Chicago and I see some really fly naturals and it seems like this summer they're even more of us! I maybe seen one or two naturals hair looking bad.

Its sad. Women like her do a disservice to black children because they often pass on this fackery. Its really disturbing. Mental slavery
