OP, have you tried any other of the suggestions other than the VO5 that gave you successful results?

Nope, haven't tried anything else.

I'm a simple person, lol. I already had it, it works, it's cheap and detangling sessions are much easier.

Bentonite clay and constant DC's help for me. I still need to find that perfect cone and paraben free DC though. Washing in sections reduce tangles and knots though.

Hot six oil
Suave Humectant
egg

I use this every time I take my sew in down. My hair is lightly texlaxed but this melts my tangles away. It's awesome.

Believe it or not Kids Organic Shea Butter shampoo and their Protein Conditioner (Very light protein) melts my newgrowths.

How do you use the bentonite clay on your hair?

Olive oil does it for me. I use it after shampooing and DCing if I feel I need to de-tangle. They come right out!

Silicon Mix (my one true love)
Herbal Essences HH
ORS Replenishing Conditioner
Drenching my hair in oil, usually Olive oil or Coconut Oil

Hairvitalize Balsam and Protein Conditioner has the best slip of any conditioner I have ever used. It's $1 for a 32 ounce bottle at Dollar Tree.

ETA: I'm gonna try mixing in some oils and mucilaginous herbs like EnExitStageLeft recommends to see if I can make a Godzilla detangler. :-)

Where can I find the marshmallow? Never heard of that.before.

I buy mine at the local herb store or organic grocery stores that sell herbs. You canalso getit online. I have it in powder, this I add to deep conditioners and rinse out. I also have the dry roots that I boil to extract the mucilage and add to leave ins and stylers. My hair loves marshmallow root, and slippery elm.

I remember when my dollar tree had this conditioner it smelled good too! I wish they sold it still.

Both of these work really good...I can literally detangle with my fingers.

NaturallyATLPCH, they sell it online! If you order a case of 12, you can have it shipped to your local store for free. That's what I'm going to do. Or you can also order smaller quantities but then shipping and handling would apply.

I was seriously considering relaxing my hair until I started using this. I need to make sure this is in the stash at ALL times.

I use a spray mist with aloe juice and a bit of water and I mist twice a day. No problems with detangling at all and I use my big bone comb everyday (like two strands of hair in the comb per day if any at all). And it is a must to wash your hair in braids especially if you have fine strands.

Best,
Almond Eyes

Yes, after years of PJ-ism & hits & misses. I can't remember where I read about the aloe juice but I tried it & was shocked to see that a spray of this when detangling lets my comb just glide through. Just aloe juice & water.
