I hate that....

Same here. I don't worry about it too much because I wear my hair up most of the time. It's also natural, so no one really notices unless I straighten. I'm not about that perfectly even life.

Froreal3 I wear my hair up most of the time also. Actually I haven't worn it out since I big chopped 3 years ago. When worn out, say you had a blown out look not flat ironed. Would you still not notice? I'm talking about 20" blown out?

MissCrawford, I notice it on blown out hair as well as with my natural coils, but it just doesn't bother me. The only reason I notice it is because I know my hair so well. Other ppl don't notice it. The front/right is maybe a little over an inch longer than the left.

I hate that the hair sections of Marshalls and Ross are calling my name! Must...not...go!

OT, I LOVE ur screen name, MissCrawford. I'm a huge Joan Crawford fan! I just re-watched "what ever happened to baby Jane".

To ur OP, the right side of my hair is shorter than my left. I think it's because I start with the left side of my hair first, there by "babying" that side vs. the other side. Maybe I'll start doing my hair on the other side first.

My left side is longer than the right but my right side is thicker than the left. Complete opposite of when my hair was relaxed. I think that side just naturally grows a little faster. I don't mind it. I wonder if I still have a W shaped hemline though.

Thank you! She was just star of the month on TCM. I have 9 movies wating for me to rewatch on TiVo  I think I over trimmed in the beginning of my hair journey. I trimmed constantly trying to avoid dry ends and must have over did it :ohwell:

For me, my sides are shorter than the back, and it is SO annoying. I'm resisting the urge to give myself another trim to even it out. I'm mad at myself for over-trimming for the sake of evenness because my hair would be about 4 inches longer if I hadn't been over-trimming last year.

Haha I'll let you know if I find anything that works to even things out. :yep: I would say that a good start would be to massage the scalp of the shorter side. I have been doing that for a while and the difference isn't so drastic anymore.. But still there nonetheless.
Your hair is so pretty.
My hairline is weird too though; one half (left side) of it goes back a little further and the hair sticks up more and the right side is lower and the hair lays down more when it grows in. I'm not a fan of that at all lol.

Ok first off we must be related! Check the hairline .... All types of uneven. Wth is that about?! Lol. And thanx I will try the massaging bc this uneveness is frustrating. I cant wear my hair curly bc its so noticable. So I have no choice but to straighten and ponytail it lol! Thank you for the compliment as well!!!!

But yes we have the same affliction , hopefully I can fix the symetry, but the hairline I am stuck with lol

Same here -- I chopped my hair even and it grew out uneven again. I now just trim and not worry with it.

Whoa mine looks just like that!! Haha I thought I was the only one with that hairline thing going on. Maybe it's more common in people with widow's peaks.. Hairline and hemline twins!
If your hair texture a little tighter on the shorter hanging side than on the other, then maybe trying to stretch the hair in twists or a tight bun on the curlier side might cause it to temporarily hang lower so you can wear it out more often. Alternatively, you can braid your straighter side and maybe Bantu knot it then take it out after a while to give it a more shrunken look to match the other side. Texture difference on each side is another factor in my own hair.
I wish I could grow those "beloved" baby hairs on the higher up side of my hairline to make things appear to even out a little but nope - They only grow on the lower side LOL.

Btw whoever else was in the pictures with you before has lovely hair as well! I didn't even realize that was a whole 'nother person there lol.

Girl you and your daughter's hair are gorgeous!

I would just take the longer side and flip it over to the shorter side. Bobby pin it and call it a day. Looks good curly to me.

I read somewhere that it could be due to the way you wrap your hair at night! So if you do the whole wrap around the head thing then you will get breakage on the side under tension. Maybe cross-wrapping at night could help. Also, babying the shorter side and being reeeally gentle with it could help. I too have a shorter side that is also weaker/more damaged but it seems to be recovering now that I treat it better.

@Fenaxa

I think you might be onto something, I was going to say maybe it has to do with the widows peak....the hemline is something different but I think most people with a widows peak have some form of uneveness. I am going to give some of your suggestions a try....I was even contemplating relaxing/texlaxing the right side to make it less thick and more even with the left....but with my luck it would be counterproductive and I bet money the hair would just break off making the problem 10 times worse....sheesh...whats a girl to do!!!!

and lol at "a whole 'nother person"....that would be my lil girl next to me...and thank you for the kind words.

@bebezazueta....BEBEEEEEE!!!!! How are you lady....long time....Thank you again miss, ur hair is always lovely...but thank you so much for the compliment!!!! You are 2 much you really said just flip it and pin it....might have to try that as well....I will be channeling the 80's with that one.....but it could be cute....maybe a braided mohawk with the left side down... IDK I am getting desperate lol....good to hear from you again though....

Yeah I can definitely see that. I looked up 'uneven widows peak' and it seems common enough.
Hahaha yeah texlaxing probably wouldn't be a good idea  At least so soon. I know there's gotta be something you can do to fix the asymmetry of your hemline. Mine is too short and shrinks up even shorter to really show my unevenness but hopefully I can find a way to get things as even as possible before it gets long and I start straightening it.

And oh, you're welcome. You and your daughter both have the same thick head of hair. Too adorable!
