Why The Hair Hate Though?

I just finished watching a show called The New Atlanta. First time ever watching it, so let me give the story for those of you who never watched it.


One of the cast members Africa Miranda was doing a performance. Apparently her and this other cast member Alexandria Dilworth are fighting over another cast member Jevon 'Vawn' Sims.

So the jerk Vawn leaves Africa's performance for 30 minutes to sit in a limo with Alexandria. He tells Alexandria that he prefers Africa over her, so Alexandria gets mad and says,

"You want that Natural Headed ***** and she's not even natural headed, you can have her!"


Besides the obvious, the chick was throwing shade to what she don't have: Vawn. She just had to go in on Africa's hair.

Alexandria's hair looked as if she had some nesting going on at the top, but Anyway, why should it matter if a chick is chemically treated or natural? Is she betraying our people? Does it make her a traitor of the natural community? Are you mad because her hair looks nice? I don't know if Africa is (in reference of texture) natural texturized, texlaxed, texnatural, but her hair is stunning, and I don't have a problem if she is chemically treated or not.
Others may not agree, but lets hear your opinion.

Wait, I thought Africa's hair was a wig too? I remember in one episode I watched she was trying on wigs and one was a curly/coily texture..I could be wrong, I don't keep up with the show.

Never heard of the show but Alexandria's hair looks ridiculous. She's on television and she can't get a decent weave/wig. Girls like her always assume that they look better because they look like everybody else. lol And I'm not sure what she meant by natural headed ***** and not even natural but at least Africa's hair looks more believable. The straightened pics look like hers.

Why does Alexsomething wig sit all pushed to the front like that? It looks like somebody was playing ringtoss. Her head served as the stick and that wig as a ring. Do better before you come hard at others boo.

I missed last nights show... I keep forgetting when it comes on cause its a fairly new show.

Africa is natural but wears her hair straight on occassions, like when she is due for a haircut. She has beautiful hair. These pics doesn't do her hair any justice though.

Alexandria and Africa were once friends. There is not much you can say about Africa in an altercation cause she is in fact beautiful and poised (on occassion) so I think Alexandria just pulled out the natural card cause it was easier. Doubt she meant any hate toward naturals in general. Jmo

Actually DrC the picture you posted of Alexandria's hair looks much better than her "hair" looks on the show. Not a pretty sight at all. Her personality is also in the toilet IMO. I absolutely love Africa's hair.

How are you going to make a crack at someone's hair, especially when it looks good, when you got a wig on? It always confused me when I was in high school. Then they'd take out their braids or tracks and look like something the Heat Mizer got to . It's like a chick with an ugly mug saying so-and-so isn't even cute. I'm like, girl, how 'bout we not open this can of worms right here .

That didn't even make sense! As if "natural headed" is a bad thing. Then she turns around and implies the girl is wearing a wig or weave I guess. She's just mad and didn't have anything else to say.

Ah, so they used to friends? Yeah, I know she wasn't referring to the whole natural hair community, but I felt it was a petty blow to go in on her hair. It reminds me of when a kang approaches a girl, and when she rejects him he'll say something derogatory like "fine you nappy headed *****" The girl and her hair wasn't ugly when you you were trying to holler though
