If I was to telax my hair, which I am considering, how would you describe the texture change

For example, if I'm 3b/c will relaxing get my hair to 2b/c?

Mostly just curious, I'd also love to see some photos of you guys

I wouldn't say it's a texture change so much as a curl pattern change.

Your curl will loosen. But your "texture" will be the same. If you have silky hair, or kinky hair, or cottony textures hair..... You will still have it. The curl will be looser.

When I texlaxed I went from a cottony 3c to a looser cottony 3c. When I was relaxed I had straight cottony hair.

If that makes sense.

Here are some pics of my texlaxed hair and my natural roots (I am 19 months into transitioning so my ends are texlaxed.)

my natural hair texture is soft and puffy like a cotton ball. it's not thick or full, but it looks like it is....kinda like a cotton ball.

silky hair to me is shiny and more flowy like thread....

kinky hair to me has more sheen and looks more sturdy like yarn.....

those are the items that come to mind when i think, silky, cottony, kinky. all textures have their attributes, that in my opinion, don't change when the curl pattern is loosened or tightened by chemicals.

for example. type 2 wavy to straight silky hair doesn't look like type 4 curlier/kinkier hair when it is chemically straightened. the basic characteristics of the hair remain the same....shiny, silky, sheen, thick, thin, etc.......even though the curl pattern may be removed.

if you see a caucasian person with type 2 wavy hair and they get a japenese hair straighening process, their hair doesn't look like an african american person with type 3 or 4 hair when they get a relaxer. though both ladies will now have straight hair due to the processing.

i hope that makes sense.

obviously there are variations and it's not an exact science and no two heads are the same.....
