For me it's my hair friend turned arch nemesis; mini two strand twists.:nono: I've broken up with them and made up with them before. I love them because they are so versatile. However, I find that if I leave them in for longer than 17 days, things get ugly.

Days 1-17 give me little to no drama with the take down process. If I push it to 21 days, oh boy :nono:. I no longer have the inclination to spend hours untwisting, detangling, and twisting back up again. If I do twists now, I shouldn't make them smaller than my index finger.

I'm finding that the longer my hair gets, the less I want to do to it. I hope that goes away because I really want to enjoy my hair again.

Sooo...What hair style or practices are you leaving behind in 2012?

Vendors with poor customer service
3 sisters of nature-weekly deep treat...
Leaving twists in for a month...
Shampoo bars with missing key ingredients...

*HAULING

Happy Hair Growing!

-being a product junkie. i'm sticking to these products and using up everything until not a drop is in the bottle.

-being unhealthy. i'm all about that clean living. i take great care of the physical outer appearance but my internal is totally suffering. so i'm taking my vitamins, upping the water intake, exercising, eating clean. i'm hoping this will just maximize everything. i know my hair could be better than it is if i took care of the internal as well.

thats pretty much it.

*The over usage of products (I's lighthanded nah :yep:)

*Creme of Nature Argan Shampoo (I'm still mad this poo didn't work for me :()

*Not trimming regularly.....<My ends aren't bad, but I need to maintain a blunt U. thats what I want and that what I should have.....DUSTING REGULARLY AND TRIMMING WITH EVERY RELAXER (every 3 to 4 months) HERE I COME!>

*Not shopping my stash (Is there a "Shop your stash challenge" ?)

*It'sPerfectlyNatural HairCare......I think this is self explanatory. My claim is open as we speak :yep:.

There should be a SYS I need that one myself.:ohwell:

Hmp. Still no IPN huh?

-Bagging
-Under 1hour deep conditions
-Treseme, Suave, Dove, and Aussie products.
-Moisturizing until my hair feels wet. For some reason my hair gets a sour smell.
-Jump in a million challenges. Me and my hair are in a happy place right now.
-Protein base leave-ins. I make my own now :)

Weekly shampoos in the winter. Made my scalp dry and DCing became an uphill battle

Letting myself go too long without purchasing the products I know my hair loves because I'm cheap

I'm also gonna use up my V05 and tresemme conditioners. They're great for quick things, but I still prefer a light water rinse and Darcy's pumpkin on damp hair as my current moisturizer/leave in

Sulfates. After I finish up/toss my sulfate shampoos, I'm going CG! I hope to achieve more moisturized hair and better curl definition

1.Product junkism, By 2014 I hope to be down to 5 bottles
1 Shampoo
1 Oils
1 leave in/tea/moisturizer/co wash
1 Deep Condition
1 butter/scalp pomade

2. 90% of Marie Dean: At that price I need to hear the heavenly choir every time I DC
3. Multi-vitamins, herbal and fish oil capsules, as soon as I finish my bottle I am just going to take seaweed, drink tea, and eat salmon croquettes every morning. Do you know how many cans of salmon I can buy for what fish oil cost me?
4. Comb/brush Detangling
5. Growing long hair only to find out it is damaged, and having to cut it all off to look good. In 2013, I am going to look fly all the time. I am going to keep my hair cut into a cute style, and my ends are going to be immaculate. It may take longer to get there, but at least I will get to stay.

-Buying products just because there is a sale
-Frequent experiementing - keeping it basic is boring but works best for my hair
-A stash beyond what I'm capable of using up within 3 to 6 months
-Protein overload - been there too many times to count
-Length chase - I'm about health first as length will come
-Inconsistent healthy lifestyle - I plan to increase my workout frequency & intensity
-Breakage - doing the items listed above should keep breakage to a minimum

*tie-zillions/micro braids - nothing negative about them. Just don't have the time for them anymore.

*sew-ins - Not for me.

*Super expensive weaves - Need to allocate my money on bigger things than weft hair. Maybe if I win the mega millions, I'll revisit those top weave brands.

Moisturising infrequently
Home made DCs
Sleeping with henna/conditioner
Intentionally dc'ing for hours
Dc'ing without heat

- Trying to recreate a style I saw on YouTube on the mornings I am late for work and being rough with my hair.

- Being obsessive with trying to get a regimen. I just need to listen to my hair and let it be.

- Feeling the need to clarify or shampoo all the time :nono:. Co-washing/co-cleansing and only shampooing every few months.

- Trying to be frugal with my products. I will use products I like not products I think I should regardless of price. I will be fiscally responsible by not being heavy handed.

- I have already started this: not buying more than two of any one product at a time. I get bored/overwhelmed if I see many bottles of the same thing (only exception TJ TTT!).

- Not replacing any product until I am on the last bottle of anything in that category.

- Sticking to products and methods that work. Rarely, if ever, trying new products or lines.

  • Im leaving APL back in 2012, Im still chasing length for 2013, when I reach BSL I'll chill until I reach my ultimate goal
  • I'll be shopping my stash in 2013 - only refills .... I'll try really really hard :look:
  • Consistency will be my friend in 2013 -for hair and health
  • Im leaving my lamea$$ styling skills in 2012, Im gonna learn to do some cute styles

I think thats it for now

I'm with you! My hair DOES NOT like mini two strand twists or two strand twist in general. Anything longer than 5 days and the entire thing ends up as one big dread:nono:. Learned the hard way and now moving on to another method that my hair and I can agree with.

1. Hauling
2. Complicated Regiment
3. Fear of Setback <---- this is real! I am afraid to even put a rinse in my hair. I've had two major setbacks in my life. Color and Heat/Protein-Overload. But I'm gonna let this go.
4. Being Scared of Heat (not to abuse it, but to know that I'm not DCing 2x a week not to flatiron those roots on a rollerset :))

That is all.

1. My cheap brush
2. Being a product junkie (I need to just stick with the products I know and love)
3. Being heavy handed with products
4. Styling my hair daily
5. My flat iron and blow dryer (for at least 6 months. I'll see how I feel after that)
6. Not properly detangling my hair (I plan to figure out a way to detangle my hair that works and stick to it)

Nice thread!

I'm leaving:

-Miss Clairol; my hair is dry enough and color ain't helping
-lack of styling skills: I pledge to learn to braid and two strand flat twist

I won't be so reliant on braided extensions in 2013 - the plan is to wear my own hair more

oh i forgot one more thing. cheap a** beauty supply store satin bonnets. them things was slowing chipping off my hair. i had a pink bonnet and i looked the inside and saw little small hairs. so pissed. i upgraded to a better quality one (that doesn't mess up my pillowcase either) and no more little hairs. be doing great ever since.
