I FINALLY got it right!

I dont even want to contemplate the amount of money Ive spent in the last 20 years trying to get my wash and gos to cooperate! I could never find something that had everything I was looking for...moisturizing with hold & taming the frizziness without making it stringy or hard.

Recently I had been looking for something moisturizing for my 20 month old DD and decided to make her a whipped avocado butter. So after making hers...I added a few more things and made some for myself. I decided to try it on my wash and go. The first time it was a little puffy so the next time I decided to seal it with a mixture I have of several oils....and it was love at first sight!!! I FINALLY GOT IT RIGHT!!!

My hair is shiny without being hard and moisturized without being stringy!
(any curly girl wash and goers out there will know what Im talking about!)
The best part is...its all healthy no drying chemicals and BONUS my new growth is soft and equally moisturized without having to add another step!

Here is the recipe:
Avocado butter
Shea oil
Avocado oil
EEVO
EVCO
Grape Seed oil
Wheat Germ oil
DL Panthenol
Silk Amino acid
Rosemary eo
Ylang Ylang eo

It came out a little watery so I added shea butter to thicken it up...I love it!!! :lick: I plan on PSing this winter (which I have never intentionally done...I wear my hair out everyday) and plan on using this butter to keep my hair soft and moisturized. HIP LENGTH IM COMING FOR YOU!!!

Much thanks to @SummerSolstice for introducing me to my new baby daddy avocado butter and @MrsJaiDiva for introducing me to shea oil.

OH and it keeps DDs curls nicely also. No more store bought moisturizers for us!

ETA: Excuse my ends...they arent as bad as they look...that is the last of my straight relaxed hair so they look a lot thinner than the rest of my hair. Im dusting them a little bit at a time...cant wait till it grows out!

What's EEVO?

Update: I'm so upset...after finding something that I love that actually works...I can't do it anymore. I have been breaking out horrifically! I couldn't figure out what it was at first but now I'm pretty sure it's the whipped butter. My hair gets in my face and my acne prone skin can't handle all the oils. So ill be pulling my hair back when i use it. back to the drawing board for my wngs..sigh...

oooh that mixture sounds heavenly! I'll have to give it a try

OP is your hair natural or texlaxed? I only ask because my hair is similar in texture to yours, but it shrinks up like a shrinky dink LOL and I would love if this home made recipe helped me get rid of the shrinkage. I wear wash n go's and it goes from past WL to barely SL. :perplexed:lol:

@Kachi sorry...I dont know why I keep typing it eevo I meant EVOO :hammer:

@MrsJaiDiva thank you for the link! After over 20 years of acne Im willing to try anything! :nono:

@BostonMaria...I am texlaxed. I really do like the mixture but it is VERY heavy. Even if I cut back on the shea butter (which I plan on doing on my next batch) its DEF not something I would use if my hair was washed, set and left out. Also I know it wouldnt have worked in my wngs when I was straight relaxed...it would have been stringy. But Im looking forward to using it when I ps this winter...I have the feeling by spring I will have a brand new head of hair on my head!

I looked at your pix and your hair is beautiful! Yours prob shrinks more because you have a defined curl pattern...mine arent really curls..theyre squiggles. Kinda like a mop!!! LOL

I laughed at the mop comment LMAO
OK I was like OMG something to get rid of the shrinkage! Then my ego was deflated like a balloon LOL

I have alot of hair (thank you for the compliment) and I need to just work with what I have instead of trying to change it.. I GUESS :perplexed

LOL ITS TRUE!!!! CLose your eyes and think of a mop...thats EXACTLY what my "curls" look like! :lachen::lachen::lachen:

You know you could try it...it couldnt hurt. Because the butter is so heavy it might elongate your curls.

We always want what we dont have...cuz I scrunch scrunch scrunch my hair into a knotted birds nest trying to get some kind of a curl pattern. LOL I would kill for your curls!

Loved how your hair came out, it looks so soft and your curls well defined. Is that your natural curl pattern or do you twist them? I was thinking, cool maybe I can do that, then thought nope, I'm relaxed (telax combination going on in my head of hair) lol.

You have a very beautiful little girl and lucky to have mommy taking care of her hair as well.

@Bnster I am texlaxed. When my hair was shorter I had better "curl" definition (my squiggle was less elongated LOL), now that its longer its straighted out more. But I do have to scrunch in order to get this look. If I dont its a hot stringy mess. LOL

And thank you for your comments about my daughter...that was REALLY sweet of you! :yep:
