No it ain't. Every last strand need to go. Even Stevie Wonder can see the difference between 1 inch and 6 inches. After you beat her down like a dawg in the street, slip some Nair in her shampoo AND conditioner. Act all sympathetic when she freaks out too.

I don't even let my mama near my hair with scissors. Yes, it is that serious.
 
Sorry your cousin did this. Did she tell you why? How long is her hair? Looks like jealousy to me.
It does look good with the flip. Hopefully it'll grow back soon.
Is it you on the framed picture with the waist length hair?
 
I think we learn backwards. We should learn how to tell people yes i want to see exactly how much you going to cut BEFORE you cut and yes I am going to watch you in the mirror every step of the way.

Instead of us learning first how to grow it long just to have someone hack it all off.

Or trim it yourself. Whats the worst that could happen? It'll be a little uneven maybe. That's it.

You are crazy! lol lol lol We used to have that whole movie memorized and we would recite it in school. I haven't seen that movie in yearssssssss. My teens have never seen it. I need to buy it.
 
Had that been me the last sentence would've told how long it took for her to get up off the floor. Don't trust everybody with your hair.

I keep saying this, but the problem is not how much they cut, its the fact that they stay in the same spot and keep trimming and trimming that spot. That adds up to inches. THEN they are forced to even the rest of the hair out w/the shortest spot they cut. I'm serious, almost no one knows how to trim properly and/or considerately!

I'm all for cutting long strings and thin ends. But you didn't have those. I can't come up with a reason as to why she felt like she had to cut that much.

But keep taking care of your hair like you have been before. Don't adopt any drastic regiment you are not familiar with. It will grow back. Please don't ever let your cousin touch your hair again. Don't even let any of the family members who thought it's not that bad touch it.
 
Oh lawd. I'm working on my patience with people but if my cousin would have done that to me, I would be sitting at the county jail RIGHT now waiting for my aunt to cough up some bail money.

Seriously, I'm sorry that she set you back like that.
 
I can't even fatham why anyone would think that would be okay. Can't even come up with a good reason as to why she would do that....smh. I would've whooped someones a$$ for being sneaky, then for giving me a lame a$$ "It looks fine to me :look:" excuse. I would've went OFF!!

Shiit, I'm angry for you!!! Your hair still looks beautiful but clearly this person is jealous of you! It will grow back in no time but you need to let her know it was NOT cool at all.
 
I just want to know...what were you doing while she was cutting? How did she get away with cuttin so much without you noticing?

As compensation she should cut herself bald. Just saying.

I just nearly escaped a scalping myself from a SHS. I disgusting to see how women let their own jealousy cause them to scalp other women. Why is it that black women hate other BW with long hair so much. I see them glaring at my long hair all the time. It's like my hair has done something to offend them. I don't even want to let people see it anymore, if this is the result.

The lesson is, we all need to find a way to trim our own hair. That way there are no excuses. No "Dead hair", "split ends", "evening Up", "Scraggly", "un-even" or other nonsense that hateful women use to destroy a BW progress.

Disgusting....

When some stylist cut my hair from near BSL to SL, it's too painful to look at the hair and see the damage that is done. I braided up my hair so I didn't have to see the damage inflicted on me. Then I could focus more on growing the hair again. So put your hair in some weave for a few months so you get over the hurt at least.

I hate when people say "It'll grow back" when you've been working so hair already. Instead, I'll say next time you'll still have longer hair than she ever will. Your hair will always be healthy, longer, and better than hers. Use that as fuel to grow it back and toss it in her face in triumph.

I'd say weave it up a few times, and when you need to cut again try this method (though I'm sure you'll cut less than she is doing.) Even if your hair is shorter, you can do this method (if you can make a pony tail) and then use the mirror (hold it up so you can see the back) and just trim the ends that way after using the pony tail to bring it down to the very ends (if you don't have enough hair to bring it around to the front yet). Don't forget to flat iron first if you're a natural like me.

I'd say with all she's cut, if you stay in a protective style there's no reason to cut any more this year. By the time next year rolls around you'll have enough to do it (cut it) this way anyways).
 
:perplexed So she deliberately ignored your request to trim few inches? She would never touch my hair again and I would let her know I was pissed. She surely did not need to cut so much off.

On the bright side: you hair looks thick and healthy :yep:. Beautiful hemline.
 
I really hate trimming my own hair. Even the search and destroy sometimes feels tedious. Maybe you could find another LHCF sister and do some kind of exchange next time. Maybe it's only best to trust someone else who has compassion and experience.
There are probably some stylists on the boards who could help out. I'm considering doing this when I'm in New York for the fall visiting my mom if i don't find a LHCF Berliner before that time.

Also, my condolences for you lost inches :nono: RIP
