Read this... do you agree?

◦74% of men indicated that they notice women because of their hair and 44% of men surveyed said that hair is the first thing they notice about a woman, more than her clothes (26%), legs (25%), or makeup (4%).
◦Most men surveyed would be more likely to approach a woman at a bar with great hair than a woman wearing a low-cut shirt.
◦82% of men indicated that sexy hair is a key element to a woman’s overall sex appeal.
◦60% of men surveyed say they would rather date a woman with great hair than a woman with big breasts.
◦And 78% of men surveyed consider healthy hair to be a turn-on.

Philip Kingsley We use hair to draw attention to ourselves, to express our personalities, to attract a mate. It is impossible to understand the importance of human scalp hair without appreciating its sexual role - there is a vital link between sexuality and hair. Hair is a secondary sexual characteristic. You obviously can’t flaunt your primary ones in public, but you can flaunt your hair.

I agree with the article :yep:

I agree! I have had several men tell me this

They notice the hair then the body. He will make exceptions but long hair is a plus.

This is interesting. I read in another article that the first things men notice was women's butt then breasts. Well who knows, this writers point of view isn't hard to believe.

I may have a different perspective on this being a lady of size, but I call BS on this. I've seen far too many women with hot bodies who are bald (Amber Rose, anyone?) have men fall all over them as opposed to the plainer, pudgy chick to the side with gorgeous hair to her knees. Men see women in the following order:

  1. Does she have a hot, bangable bod? Check.
  2. Is the face situation in order? Check.
  3. All the peripherals (hair, eyes, smile, voice) then come into play, in order of the individual dude's preferences.
All things being equal (i.e., numbers one and two are covered), I would agree that beautiful hair is a definite plus.

Just my opinion based on my experience; YMMV. :look:

Also, please note that this so-called "study" was commissioned by Pantene, so they may have had a stake in how the results turned out, don't you think? :ohwell:

My hair is what made my ex notice me. We had a class together forever and he didnt notice me until I cut my hair and dyed the bangs purple

@the bolded- I have to wonder if most men even know healthy hair when they see it? Not saying that men are ignorant, but I have seen some men fall over a chick with long, straggly ends. Tis all.

I also think it's the face first then hair and body. Hair is more appropriate to comment on in public versus you have nice breasts or a nice *ss.

I don't think it's a study. I think it's just a survey. And who knows if it was done scientifically.

One thing... what do men consider "great hair?" Long and straight, big and curly? Short and sassy? I am HORRIBLE at important questions in this sort of thing (long story) but even I would have thought that was important.

This probably varies, but the guy I am currently dating noticed my hair first. I actually saw him the week before at the same spot, but I had my hair in a bun and he did not notice me. The next week I went to the same place with my APL-length hair down and straight. It was rather full-looking because I had not had a relaxer in 5 months. He sparked a conversation and asked for my number.

Later, he asked me about my hair and wanted to know if it was real. He said it was the first thing he noticed about me and that is was very pretty and long (to him).

Even for a woman with short hair, a neat, unique cut and full healthy hair can be eye-catching.

I will say this. I agree somewhat but I have noticed. if I wear my hair in a bun, I am unnoticed. but if I wear my hair down in nice neat style I get noticed and compliments

I don't think most realize what healthy hair is either......many of them think weaves are real .

hair does make a good ice breaker.
explains why some men come up to me wide eyed saying.. your hair is AWESOME. Can i touch it?

I would be interested in "who" exactly their sample consisted of. Most guys IME tend to notice "assets" before hair or anything else.

There's a picture of a model that goes around my sport's board that the boys go nuts over. And her hair (ends) are bleached out and atrocious. I pointed this out, but they didn't care.

And now that I think about it, I have been hanging out with men on the internet for 13 years following my favorite sports team, and not ONCE, upon posting their various pictures of women over the years, did ANY of them remark on the girl's hair.

I noticed this to be true. I get more looks from men when my hair is down.

yeh, i know what you and others here are saying... and it's prolly true but it's not the same as a static that 74% of men notice women because of their hair. what weirdo city was this survey done in and who the heck was surveyed? The Omish? if this were true pantene wouldn't need models to sell their products; they could take anyone off the street, add product (or a wig) to give them this blingy sexxy hair and blind people w/ the hotness of it all.

hot bod, great face, boobs/butt, legs, are top. great hair causes whiplash but ONLY when attached to the others. this survey makes it same like hair can sell a package on its own and it can't. definitely not primary.

Granted, this survey was conducted by Pantene, who might have an interest in getting you to obsess about your hair

edit: This survey was probably taken in conjunction with some evolutionary biologist's opinion -__-

I think men look at hair first and their brains are like "a woman! Look!"

Then they look at their smile, body, and face. Men don't know healthy hair and they hardly even recognize a pretty face. Seems like they're easily trickable. You can just fake pretty. Most will believe ya!
