My hair is retaining more length:yep: I really wish I was better about length checks:ohwell:

I just put in a set of cornrows I'm pretty proud of:yep: They are a lot tighter (but not too tight) and the parts are looking better. My wig fits very nicely over them and they look decent enough to not be totally mortified if someone saw me with them in. I think these could last at least 2 weeks but I'd love it if i could push it to 4 weeks:yep:

I've been testing out Supergirl's Silk Dreams line and I don't mean to sound hypey but this was my best DMM (LadyP's Deep Moisture Method) ever! I used her Prepoo treatment overnight (Hair braided into 4 sections) and then washed with the cleansing cream (unbraided a section, wet it, applied the cleansing cream, rinsed and rebraided - this is how I do all my poo and condish). I was skeptical because I've never used a sulfate free or natural type shampoo before and there wasn't very much lather but my hair came out super clean without feeling stripped at all. Actually my scalp felt really really nice which I haven't experienced before.

Then I applied the Rinse out conditioner and washed my booooooody lol. I Rinsed it out rebraided and allowed it to partially air dry. It felt so soft! Then I had to choose which DC to DMM with. I went with the Vanilla Silk Cream because I would be sealing with Shea butter anyway.

I parted a section to cornrow, spritzed with water and applied the conditioner:love: My hair felt drenched in moisture. The only similar experience I've had with my hair feeling this moist is with cone based conditioners (which we know is just a fake feeling due to the cones) It has lots of slip. I then sealed with Shea butter, combed and braided.

After I finished braiding I used the leave in on my edges, nape, and ran some over my cornrows. I applied my sulfur mix and put on a stocking cap. My hair has lots of bling and feels really nice. I'm trying to keep these in for at least 2 weeks to a month so I'll report back how my hair feels on take down but so far so good:grin:

Everything smells divine! My hubby is usually not a big fan of scents but he really likes the smell of these products.

Ok so for my edges update as you can see, my edges are progressing really well. Still short but recovering nicely. The left side is the worst.

Here are some old egde pics to give you an idea of how much progress I've made:

Here's where they were at their worst (postpartum shedding is the devil!)

The cornrow pics are from today:yep: Tying my hair down so that the curls of my edges lay flat really make a difference in their appearance. They are getting longer too.:yep:

Scuze the disorganized nature of this post lol.

Oooh, lookin' good, girly! Your edges are filling in nicely, they'll be back in no time!

Annnnnd, you just made my THAT much more anxious to try Supergirl's stuff!
Drenched in moisture?

Yes, please!

transitioning? I think the biggest keys for me have been the sulfur mix, moisture, and TIME.

Supplements I Take: 3000mg Biotin, 6-12 610mg Fenegreek capsules (for my milk supply but I've read it may help hair growth recently) Prenatals, Garlic, probiotics, and fish oil. I can't really credit the supps because I was taking all of them with the exception of the fenegreek when my edges fell clean out.

I use NJoy's sulfur recipe. I try to keep as my edges as moist as possible for my 4b natural desert dry hair and don't touch them. I don't comb or brush my edges and keep them covered by a headband or more recently a wig.

tiffers Forreal girl I think I had my first hairgasm:lachen: It takes a LOT for my hair to feel moist and man my hair just soaked it up. I mean it felt like silk....oh duh maybe that's why it's called Silk Dreams:rofl:

:up:You really braid nice and neat. Just keep doing what you're doing, and those edges will fill in.
Are you putting on wig cap? Because you don't want any friction to stop progress.

I've been meaning to get one. I have a nylon one but I've read those are a no no so I've just been wearing my wig without a cap but slightly in front of the hairline. I have to find that link LadyP posted for either a silk or satin wig cap.

Congratulations!

I really appreciate the fact that you documented and shared your experiences, as well as your progress forward. It has been both informative and inspiring.

Your edges and cornrows look great! I would never think you had postpartum shedding if I hadn't seen your other threads. Congratulations!

Ooh thanks for the review. I can't wait to try her line. Those are nice cornrows! I am jealous!! Congrats on the edges filling back in.

:update:

I took down my cornrows yesterday and my hair felt sooo soft. No build up or matting or anything. I braided my hair up for the night and this morning woke up to a fluffy stretched fro!

It stayed soft and moisturized all day:love: Today was a wash day and I forgot to prepoo. I did notice a big difference in how my hair felt so I won't be washing again without the prepoo first. It didn't feel stripped but it did feel a little rough, not soft and moisturized like before.

I used Shea What to Flexi Rod Set my hair tonight so I'll update on that in the morning. The Shea What doesn't feel as moisturizing as the other DC. I think the Shea What is more of a strengthener than a super moisturizer so I will use this one once a month.

This is my first flexirod set on my natural hair so it'll be interesting to see how it comes our:grin:

lovely fro! can't wait to see the results of your flexirod set-i love the results of those

Ok well what had happened was  I should've listened to the little voice in my head that said "sit under the dryer") I didn't and come bed time my hair was still damp:nono: I could tell it would've been really cute too:ohwell: Since it was damp I took down the rollers (slept on flexirods once before, never again:rofl:) and the style turned into a bantu knot out which I HATE lol. This one came out ok but the bantu knot out never looks right to me. I got lots of compliments at work today. It's more shrunken than I would have liked but I figure the curls will fall as the days go on, I work out ,etc. Eventually this style will revert into mini twists, a twist out, braid out and fluffy stretched fro before I wash again. Love the versatility of natural hair:grin:
