I want to buy this because of the steam. When he mentioned it works on type 4 hair, did Bobbie have to say "oh, she doesn't have type 4 hair? I cannot even imagine 4." :perplexed B1tch please. It's clear you think curly heads have ugly hair. And the model's hair was blow dried out to a frizz. That's not how it's normally worn. SIGHhhhhh......but I'm going to buy this thing! And it comes with the mini as well.

Does anyone have this? What about the teeth? Other models caused problems on very curly hair. Is that the case with this one? Can you take out the teeth plate to straighten?

Guitarhero I have it and i love it! Even tho in december i plan on cheating on it w/ the FHI. Using the plates is a learned process but its a very good flat iron and use you can take the teeth out to flat iron. There is another interchangeable plate w/o the teeth. I use it to straighten my hair. If you want to see it, you can check out my vid about it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D0ciJm_bHrs

I LOOOVEE this iron. I use it to straighten my hair as well. I blowdry my hair, so that usually handles the tangles. I also take my comb and run it through the section of hair before I flat iron. The maxiglide directions tell you not to clamp it shut when flat ironing. So, I close it just enough, but i dont clamp it. Works like a charm.
I love the steam. I'm 4 a/b and it gets the job done.

mslizzie, how do you clean yours? I've nver used the plat without teeth.

Not sure how much HSN is selling this for. I used my 20% off coupon and purchased from Bed, Bath and Beyond.

Interesting. I had never watched this before. Its been a while so they no longer offer it on HSN.

Dang, but I saw it on Folica for 69.00. But no mini iron. Can you believe I saw this Maxiglide at the thriftstore for about 20 bucks and didn't buy it? I didn't realize what it was exactly.

I went to their website. The new one looks a little different than the one featured on HSN. However, the video from HSN is from 2008, so I kinda expected it be different.

They offer different packages - the one with the mini glide is $109.00.

I don't have this exact model. Mine is an older version where you can't take the plate out. I LOVE this iron. It was easily one of the better hair investments I made. I got it for $40 off ebay and as soon as it conks out I will be buying a brand new one.

I've used other irons since I bought my Maxiglide and they just don't compare. It's a little clunky, but you get used to it. The teeth can be scary but you just have to be gentle. You will lose some hair when you first start, but it gets better.

My "small" hair pic in my siggy is a testament to the Maxiglide. 10 outta 10 for me!

I love the maxiglide!! I use it on my transitioning hair as well as my daughter's 4b natural hair and it works like a charm. And it really leaves the hair sooo shiny, soft, and healthy looking. I chalk that up to the steam it uses to straighten the hair. It is a learning process working with the comb on the plates. You truly do have to glide it across not press like you would with a traditional iron. I love it though! Doesn't hurt to try it and then return if it doesn't work for you. But I do notice the healthier reaction my hair has to the steam then with a regular flat iron.

MsLizziA I watched your video and love your results. Do you use products to get those results or minimal product use when using the Maxiglide.

What about split ends? I was reading a review on the Conair steamer flat iron and this girl said she had good salon flat irons that left her Vietnamese hair frazzled at the ends. No splits ends? That's why I usually don't use the flat iron..some of them kill your ends. I'd imagine the steam jets just force it straight gently but is not enough water to cause frizz. I can't wait to get one.

Oh, and @MzLizzia, that Catwalk's been mentioned on here before...is it a heat protectant? I've seen it somewhere, maybe not here but in the store.
