Hmmmm........

Since becoming natural this year I'd have to say the Curly Girl method has been a huge help in terms of keeping my hair soft. I'm still experimenting with this.

BUT...Oil rinsing is now my staple method! Although at first with the CG my ssks were reduced...I was still getting them...then I gave oil rinsing a go...my fingers do not get caught in my hair.

I've always, 10 years worth, of great results on damaged hair from Excelsior Millenia Mudd Intensive Reconstructor! You can get it at Sally's for around $7 for a 8oz tube or you can get the sample pack for $2.

For all the products and methods available, I think the best think I could have done for my hair was to simply take better care of my body. My hair health has improved with deep moisture and protein treatments. BUT, by taking care of my body - my hair is growing without too many issues. I supplement with a GREAT quality Fish oil with D3 booster which has made a heck of a difference in the look and feel of my hair.

You mentioned taking supplements, check out the Smoothie King multivitamins for women! They have everything & then some in them. My hair & nails are growing long & strong; I've never had fingernails unless they grew under acrylic overlays. I only take 1 vitamin a day & I'm getting results!

Anaya-Amani could you please take a pic of the back of this product or list the ingredients, it seems so interesting, but i've made all pages of google search and ... impossible to have the ingredients'list (im wondering why btw)

I'll take a pic when I get home this afternoon. I honestly never really looked at the ingredients. The stuff really works. I'm going to post a pic of me from August of last year and a current pic to show how much my hair has grown using this conditioner and Joico K-Pak; my hair would be longer if I hadn't been trying to get a "style" instead of just letting it grow.

A few pic, I last had my hair cut 4/15/11.

July 2010 I could only bump the front of my hair the rest was tapered down.

March 2011 I regret this cut, trying for a bob & lost all of my length.

6/30/11 my front has grown back & the back is neck length. I've sworn off scissors!!!!

Anaya-Amani, Wow, thanks for the heads up. I've never seen this at Sally's before. Is it with the shampoos? With which products would I find it?

the results of sealing with wheat germ oil were pretty impressive and unexpected, as well as adjusting ph balance with raw unfiltered apple cider vinegar

DrC YOUR HAIR PROGRESS IS DA BOMB !!! how did you come by retaining ALL DIS LENGTH, what do you do for avoiding breakage.....!!!!!!

Krystle~Hime

Thank you so much  Actually I did suffer from massive breakage at one point in addition to dandruff and having a terrible film on my scalp (shampoo) and getting SSKs and Midshaft splits really bad, :perplexed.

I switch my hair tools out for "seamless combs" which reduced my SSK's/MSS's
and stopped using shampoo due to the harshness it left on my hair.

Right now my hair length all around give or take is between 8 1/2 to 10 1/2 inches. I am NOT complaining :yay:

deep conditioning with avanti silicon/ perla, and bambu mix, redkin smooth down butter, komaza olive moisture mask, and kerastase oleo relax.

pre poo with wheat germ oil, cinnamon oil, coconut oil, olive oil, avocado oil, and home made masks.

I like to switch it up every week.

1. A light/med protein tx, followed by moisture DC every wash. I used to alternate P and M

2. Henna

3. Roux porosity control conditioner

4. Using ceramide oils

That is a serious commitment. I am having problems committing to extensions for 30 days.

It's easy for me because I do my own extensions. There is no waiting for someone to be available, traveling to the salon..etc. If I didn't love combing my hair so much, I wouldn't be doing this. The only way I can protect my hair is to keep it braided. Hopefully in three years my hair will be past apl and I can do all kinds of protective styles:grin:

One thing that has recently made a world of difference for me is watching Godsflower youtube video on her deep conditioning protein.mositure method. I did not want to go through postpartum shedding and this stopped my shedding in its' tracks and made my hair soft and strong. I mixed equal amounts of Joico K-Pak with Joico moisture recovery balm with olive oil and put foil around a flat iron and "pressed" it in. Great results.

1. Regular exercise and adequate protein intake make a big difference in my hair skin and nails.

2. low-poo routine -(with or without frequent conditioner rinses) make my hair softer, less tangled and easier to manage. Sometimes I don't have the time or patience to stick to it though.

Although I was skeptical, I tried the oil rinse and I'm very pleased with the results. I dampened my hair by spraying it with water. Applied about 1 tablespoon or so of EVCO and massaged it into my hair and scalp (I cut my hair really short recently). I watched netflix for about an hour, showered/rinsed it out, then used OYIN's honey hemp conditioner... again, massaging my hair and scalp. My hair felt softer and looked shinier... when I woke up this morning my hair still looked shiny!

How often do you ladies do this? I'm afraid of doing it too often, but I'm eager to do it again. I'm very impressed because my hair doesn't respond to oils really.

The strength of my and my daughter's hair dramatically improved with Alfaparf, it seems like it actually does repair the strands
