Is this just a braid-out?

It looks like a braid-out but am wondering if anyone else has achieved something similar and the process.
I'm sure it was stretched some sort of way (probably through blow-drying) but am wondering if it was done before or after braiding.
I know mine won't be as big because my hair is thinner, but I would love to attempt something like this.
Either way, I love her hair!

it kinda looks like a WnG to me...you could probably get a similar look with small braids on stretched hair and perm rods on the ends...

Yeah, I think it is a braid out where the ends were twirled around the finger, or even twisted, so that they're curly.
At first I thought it was maybe her natural curl pattern, until I realized the "crinkli-ness" at the top doesn't match her curly ends :ohwell:

Very pretty though...I'm guessing her hair was maybe braided when wet, then diffused maybe for bigness? That would be my best guess.

Yeah, her ends look like her natural curl pattern, so I was guessing they were just twirled?
I really need to learn how to master diffusing. I always end up with no definition when I diffuse! :(

My braid outs look exactly like this. Twisting the last inch or so or wet them and twirling do that to the ends.

PICS!!!!! And what do you use? (please?!)

i got a result similar to this with just a WNG....i'll try to find a pic....

Yes, please find! I already know my WNG would never look like that because I have way more shrinkage than her but I just wana see the pics anyway... lol.

It looks like natural hair. I thought a braid out made your curls look bigger. Hers are really, really small.

The siggie is the result of an old braid out - my hair's too thick and long to wear it out without ponying it up in some form.

Here's one, sorry not real good but enough to get an idea. I think my hair is much thicker and probably kinkier than the girl's.

I just wash it or cowash, use conditioner as a leave-in and let it dry then unbraid. The # of braids and size of the braids determines what the pattern will be.

ETA: sorry haven't taken many whole head/hair pics lately. Next time I do a fresh BO, I'll take some more...

I don't know. Only the ends look like her natural pattern to me. The length of her hair looks stretched in some way. It may not be a braid-out but it doesn't look like just a regular WNG.

blowdryer.....you pul the root and get them to stretch out....i do this....and the ends stay curly....

I think it's just a wash and go as well. The weight of my hair stretches out the top portion so that it just waves but ends still curl like my hair did when it was shorter. The woman who came up with the tightly curly method explains that her hair does this as well.

Oh... well I'm pretty sure my WNG won't ever look like that... :perplexed:
My hair definitely isn't heavy enough to get that result. Maybe I will try diffusing again and hope for the best?

Thanks for the pics LynnieB!

You can do a braid or twist out and it will mimic a wng easily. The out styles are great for those of us who have several different types and textures of hair on one head (like me) and are looking for some kind of uniformity and predictability.

Experiment with twists or braids and the sizes you make them in and you'll find the right combination that gives you the results you are looking for.

Thanks LynnieB! I'll just keep experimenting :)
Maybe the fact that my hair is so light will help make it easier since it will probably always fluff out more than hang down.

yeah i always use a blowdryer.... i used to diffuse....you can see results of that here: http://youtu.be/f92ZYFoBWnI

ummm i like the results better when i just use a concentrater....and for this style i think i just used herbal essences LTR and some oil....nothin special....

Oh yay! Vids!
I love your results. I may have to try again with the dryer.
Thanks so much!

that pic looks like a wash and go to me. it just looks like the top layer of her hair is looser than the back.

ur welcome!!! i think this weekend i wil do a step by step vid.....it's super simple....i didn't "shingle" or anything....i think when i shingle i get a stiffer result....

looks like her natural hair texture....she probably just stretched it in big braids or diffused it or something....

Very pretty, Bunnie!

I've achieve a similar look whenever I unraveled my mini twists. Maybe you could try the braids with the twisted ends. I saw a lady do that on YT and I loved the outcome!
