Is this just a braid-out?

That's what my wash and go looks like now that my hair has grown. I don't like the look on me so I gave up on wash and goes. However, I could get the same look when it was shorter by banding the top portion closest to the roots ( I would do this in the winter because my hair shrinks so much and it would make it easier to detangle on wash days).

My wash and go's that are turned into twist outs look sorta like this. Basically day one I wash and go. At night I twist my hair into 6 or 8 twists, wrap with a scarf and fluff in the morning. As the days go by, my hair stretches more and more.

it looks exactly like my hair! as usual I don't have pictures because I am lazy lol but: I apply a thick conditioner and a gel or butter on damp hair and I make 6 braids. I twist the final inch of each braid. I remove them when my hair is 80% dry and shake my head upside down 2 times without touching it. The conditioner and butter or gel keep my curls clumped and frizz free. I call it an "almost wash and go" because it is stretched. but the 20% wet hair allows for my natural curl pattern to shrink very lightly while it is getting 100% dry, so it looks more natural than a braidout. the thicker the conditioner I leave in (i.e. AO honeysuckle rose), the more clumping I get.

It could also be that she has air dried her hair in a ponytail with a scrunchie and removed it when her hair was 70% or 80% dry / shaken her head upside down. I do the whole braiding to keep my hair detangled.

third option: she could have stretched her roots with a diffuser.

It looks to me lika a WnG--the waves are so small. My WnG's wave all the way down then curl at the very end. You could achieve this look with a braidout though.

Thanks for all of the responses ladies!
I'm loving the pics
I doubt my hair will be heavy enough to look like that regardless of how long it is. I am going to do a braidout this weekend and see if I can get something similar.
