WSL in 4 years

bride91501 I don't think it was ridiculous. and make sure you are hiding your ends. and instead of using heat to check your length you can rollerset your hair to pull it out and then just have someone take the picture for you while they pull the hair down. I always stretch my hair to check the length because I didn't like what the heat was doing to my hair. I never straighten my hair anymore.

Thank you SO MUCH for this post @naturalTAN.

I'd never had hair longer than NL in my life, but something about you crazy women on this board made me set a ridiculous goal within days of joining 1 year ago :look::lol:. I told myself I wanted to be grazing WL by December 2012, 2.5 years after my BC down to just 2.5" of hair (see my siggy).

I have doubted myself soooo many times during this last year, but I've never given up. Even with my trims, I now have 9" of hair, and with WL being at 19/20" on my body, I just might make that ridiculous goal I set as an LHCF newbie :drunk: :)

And oh yeah- I don't consider myself a "fast grower" either...I'm just focused & really, reaaaaallly stingy with my growth :yep:

You're welcome.

I've seen people fawning over Kimmaytube growing to WL in about 2 years from SL. While her hair is beautiful, her growth is pretty standard. Her retention is what's on point and I'm definitely trying to follow in her footsteps.

oh love Kimmaytube hair... it is hard finding me a twin but I love looking at everyone's hair and what they are doing. I like keeping mines simple because my hair can not stand protien and every time I jumped on a wagon I got knocked back.

But I wanted to let all of you know that I have put all my styling products under the sink. No need for styling products if I will be staying in plaits for as long as I can stand it.

I plan on making it to WL in 4 years. I BC last year June after a 10mnth transition and am 2' from APL. My PS is weaves.

ETA: I am 5'7

I had less than 1 inch on most of my head, 1-2 inches on top when I BCed
2 years later my longest strands are MBL.
Waist length is definitely in the near future

naturalTAN I wanted to know if you comb and brush your hair?

Yes, I comb and brush with a rake comb and shampoo brush from end to root. I try to stick with only doing it once a week on wash day, but sometimes I redo twists or braids because my hair mats easily.

Right now my hair in the back stretches to the top of my collar bone. I would like to make WSL by June 2013. After seeing all this gorgeous hair on here, I will CoWash , Oil Rinse and put my hair back up in twists when I get up in the AM!!! It's midnight in NYC now and I am tired. Keep up the good growing ladies :)

But Kimmay is short. I know retention is key, but height makes a difference too.

I don't think WL should take four years to achieve, maybe 2-3. I had no problems cutting and growing my hair out when I was young b/c there was no flat iron involved, just minimal blow drying. That flat iron KILLS.

For me, I'm counting from when I had my last relaxer, which was December 2009. Right now I'm a bit bit past SL at 18 months and I hope to make BSL this year. And if I do WL will not be that far off. I think 3 to 3.5 years is a good bet for WL for me. I've never been sure why it would take 4 years growing from scratch to get to WL barring a hair mishap.

And I don't mean full WL since my hair grows in layers, I mean when the back hits WL.

well I may have mis quoted I think these ladies were like hip length or tail bone.

In my Alopecia album on Fotki, there's a couple photos of my bald patch and you can clearly see about 3/4-1 inch of new growth all around it. Photo was taken June, 2006.

I did my BC in May, 2007.

By June 2010, I not only had WL hair but it was more than just a few stragglers (aka lead hairs).

4 years for me, a bit less if you count a few stragglers hitting waist.

It is indeed possible. HTH

Your hair is beautiful, I always wanted my hair to be thicker but once I had my first daughter and her hair was so thick I started being happy with what I have but I can not rock the twist.

4 years?! For who, a giant?

May 2009, I BC'd at 1-3 inches. I made full SL/CBL at 1 year post BC and BSL/BSB at 2 years post BC. If I stay "on schedule", I should be WL by Jan 2012. However, I'm giving myself until 3 years post BC (May 2012) to make full WL.

eta. I'm no fast grower, either. I get 1/2 in most months, but sometimes less. I am 5'4, but I have a longish torso.

How often do you trim your hair? You must have ridiculous retention. How do you wear your hair most days?
i agree with naturaltan. my 2 year post bc was april of this year and im right at bsl. ive done mini trims/dusting here and there. in fact i just did one today.
the first year and a half i did co wash wash and go every single day, even through the snow blizzard we had last year. then i experimented with putting my hair in twists. i hate protective styles so i still co wash and wash and go about 3-4 times a week. the other few days im in a braid out.
i figure i should be mbl at the end of this year without any set back and almost wsl by april of next year.
i have no idea how much i grow a month but i figure its normal 1/2 to 1 inch.
oh and when i bc it was down to about an inch of hair.

I cut my damaged hair off and shaved in the back and at the 2yr mark I was about 1.5"-2" from BSL.

I remember talking to Tee at the Southern Meetup and her hair was almost blunt WL. She said it took her 3 years.

I would love to wear my hair out everyday. I was doing it until I see that I was taken longer to get to my goals.

It took me 5 years and my hair grow pretty slow, sometimes just 1/4 inch a month. I was cutting out color damage so I may have an inch or 2 of hair that I did not cut off.

well you were cutting so that is why it took you long I guess? So how are you likin your WL hair now?

I woke up this afternoon and the air had not kicked on and it was so humid in here I remembered what it was like to be out in the summer. I was talking myself into why it would not be nice to have my hair out anyway because of the weather I would just be hot. So another day of the plaits and I was happy. I rainwashed my hair and then shampooed and cond.

Hey ladies, I am sooo jealous, I have been natural for over 10 years and have not reached shoulder. I wear my hair it twists, and it grows, but I have very little retention.
But I keep on hoping especially after reading pages like this.

Well done..and keep growing.

Susanna

um waistlength on ME is 28 inches so no amount of wigs would get me there in 2 years:lachen:

4 years is prob the average amount of time unless you growing one inch EVERY month for 2 years or your waistlength is 12 inches.....just saying

My hair is a thick natural midback length and to get to my waist I measured 6 inches, which will be almost impossible. Anyway, I achieved my goal of midback length so no waist for me.

My hair just grows pretty slow. If you are averaging 1/2 inch a month you should definitely be able to do it in 3 or 4 yrs, my hair only grows about 1/4-1/3 inch a month, that is only 3-4 inches a year.

edited: sorry I had to correct my math
