Preventing Limescale on steamer

When I purchased mine from Salons R Us they told me to use white vinegar mixed in tap water. (I can't use purified water either) allow it to run. When that cycle finishes fill the container with just water and allow that to run.
HTH

It depends how often I use it. I don't use it often when I am in weaves. When I used it weekly I cleaned about every 6-8 weeks.

I drain all water out of the unit after each use and I don't allow the water canister to sit in the steamer. I have a Salons R Us steamer. ETA: I use distilled water.

I use distilled water; and always drain the water out after using it. I've had my steamer about 2 years, and no scale.

I only use distilled water.

No build up issues.

I do plan on doing the white vinegar run at least once every few months (have not done it yet and I purchased my steamer in Fall of 2009)

There are a few versions of the Salons R Us steamer. I am unsure which one I have but I purchased it last year. I called when it arrived and the owner told me to insure I do NOT use distilled water. I am sure the ladies that are using distilled water have a different version that I. IDK

I do think there are various versions of the Steamers. The One I have Specifically says to use Distilled Water Only.
