No real horror stories since starting my HHJ from severly damaged hair. However, Organix Coconut Milk was a close call. I'll use it again should I ever desire a tangled-ends, run-for-the-scissors mess.
OMG I remember doing thisand I remember the first time I got finger waves with the brown gel, I was soooooo happy. I kept them in for like 2 whole weeks and kept reappyling more brown gel to the parts where the hair was lifting off. I bought a biiiggg tub of brown gel.
Lol. What about the scrunch waves w/that brown boo boo gel? My hairdresser would let my finger waves on the front of my head get almost dry (I would have a wet set in the back of my head) then lift the back of the waves up in scrunch em toward the front to get dem waves poppin in 3D-lookin' like the Predator. That mess was so damaging. You could hear my hairs snapping as she did it. Lol, gawd that was such a ghetto hairstyle and I loved it! Then she might spray some of that color on the waves...and glitter. All that was super drying to my hair, lead to a lot of breakage.

I sprayed some IC Oil Sheen on the hinges of my squeaky front door 5 months ago, and haven't had problems since.
To hell with W-D40 .
There was also this natural straightening product that my sister and I used that smelled very strongly of vinegar, that also made my hair dry. (I can't remember the name of the product though)
We must have had the same hairdresserLol. What about the scrunch waves w/that brown boo boo gel? I'm the same way. It turned out stiff and wiry like when I use too much protein. It felt like it would snap on the spot.ACV - I think it dried my hair out. I'm actually scared to try again.
Henna- I tried two times and it made my hair Dry and Brittle. (I may attempt to henna again in the future because there seems to be so many positive results for people with thin hair).
I'd have to agree. Plus BKT....straighteners....anything that makes my hair straight just doesnt work for me lol.

Tresemme Heat Protectant. That stuff made my hair so sticky, it took me way too long to detangle and blow dry. Not to mention I saw more hair on the floor than I've ever seen. I promptly poured it down the drain (I liked the bottle so I kept it), never again.
ALL things Aphogee
, ACV rinses (it worked like once and once it dried.... church was OVAH!!!!), baking soda (never....again. EVER). Those are my top three so far.
