Has anyone ever boiled henna (maybe with a pinch of acv to quick release the dye) and used boiled flax liquid to gel it up? I'm considering doing this to apply to someone with plaits in.

I mix
2 boxes of Jamila Henna
1/4 - 1/2 cup of a favorite moisturizing conditioner
Black tea - about 2 cups
2 caps of Amla Oil
1 teaspoon of Paprika
1 teaspoon of Sugar
1 teaspoon of OJ or Lemon Juice
stir mix and set in the freezer or on the counter til morning if I will immediately use.
Leaves my grays medium auburn
I use indigo afterwards it leaves it nice and black Yay!
Hi Hannana,Henna (nameless brand around the house or Nupur which I've started trying recently)
1 Egg
1 tsp Oil (olive, grapeseed, castor, etc.)
1 tsp Honey
That's it. I'm not sure if it's exactly a tsp but I eyeball. I will sometimes replace the egg with half an avocado. The amount of henna depends on length and thickness. I just mix enough to make it not drip.
Recipe's been working since I was little. My mom used to use this as well when she was a kid.
HTH!
Trying it for the first time next weekend with Coconut Milk, and or black tea..scared but excited at the same time!

Coconut Milk is great! I started using henna about a month ago. Actually it's been a mix of cassia, henna and indigo because I didn't want to go fully red.
I use a full can of coconut milk, black tea or green tea and let it marinate over night then add a little bit of oil right before I apply the henna. It knocks out frizz. I am totally frizz free because of this treatment and very shiney and silky.![]()
are you ladies heating the coco milk before mixing with the henna?
did it feel brittle before this? what was your usual recipe like?
TIA!!!!![]()
Quick question...I know during application of henna and indigo people wear gloves, but after its all said and done, in the days following application, do u get any staining on nails or bed linens?.....just curious because years ago I used a black rinse and it stained my nails n pillowcases and clothing blue....smh....just wondering if indigo does the same thing.....thanx in advance.
