Lustrasilk Straight Effects-dried my hair out horribly causing breakage
Soft Sheen Carson Hi Rez Hair color- this totally killed my hair , i had to slowly cut off all my colored hair

Yeah, I dyed it with that a month ago. Not only is my hair screaming in pain, it didn't even give a decent color. I seriously could've gotten the same effect with a rinse. My hair is not ruby rage. It's not even cubic zirconia rage Not a happy camper.

Sun-In (aka liquid acid)
Loreal Chunking
Pantene Curly Hair Series Shampoo (not damage but oh em gee it tangled my hair something awful)
Alaffia Shea Butter Conditioner (Super tangles)

Matrix Amplify Shampoo and Conditioner ravaged my hair :nono::nono::nono:

permanent hair dye and at-home highlighting kits. The bleach from the highlights was the number one worse thing I ever put in my hair.

hard protein gel (okay for edges, but I used to put it in my hair from root to tip for smoooth buns in middle school ).

braid spray. The oil in the spray made my extensions mat into my real hair.

Hicks Edges. Made my hair a hard/sticky mess! (But I still have a jar if someone is interested :look:).

Aveda Rosemary shampoo. worst. shampoo. ever. It made my hair soooo dry.

somebody already said spritz.

anything by Profectiv.

I'm sure I've had breakage from relaxers, but I've been relaxed for so many years that it's hard for me to identify my relaxer damage versus other forms of abuse that I put my hair through.

Brown gel.
Glue on weave, which ripped my hair out into the sink
Let's JAM super hold, but sadly it holds so well for weddings!
Spritz

ORS Carrot Oil. My hair felt like straw.

Pantene Relaxed and Natural. My hair was dry and oily at the same time wth! I will stick to regular pantene.

Dr. Miracles. Straight garbage!

Glad I wasn't the only one using that sun in in high school... that was my gateway "bleach" then it wwas bright blue, green, purple ,and pink...

Jazzing hair color = Dry/breakage

Box Hair color = Dry/breakage

Clairol Luminize = Started out great but broke off eventually

Any kind of hairspray, setting lotion or foam dries out my hair

Anything by Pantene

Adhesive for wigs and extensions

One and Only Argan Oil Shampoo/Conditioner = Like putting cheap body lotion in my hair

Neutrogena Triple Moisture Silk Touch Leave-In Cream = Gross, gunky dull hair. Even when I use a tiny bit.

Heat styling = A little OT but it's my hair's fiercest enemy.

Mane N' Tail Conditioner

My scalp burned something terrible. I still have 1 "straightish" strand in my hair resembling heat damage. I don't know what happened.

No real horror stories since starting my HHJ from severly damaged hair. However, Organix Coconut Milk was a close call. I'll use it again should I ever desire a tangled-ends, run-for-the-scissors mess.

Spritz. Oil sheen

I used IC Oil Sheen and it made my hair so dry.

I sprayed some IC Oil Sheen on the hinges of my squeaky front door 5 months ago, and haven't had problems since.
To hell with W-D40

Miryoku
Really?? ACV rinse worked wonders for my hair. I use it as a clarifying wash for build-up. I used it twice in one day the very first time to rid the build up. After that I wouldn't use it no more than twice a month. which was rare.

I thought I was the only one! I used it for about a two months every wash day and it made my hair feel kind of rough like the cuticle was raised.

ORS Carrot Oil - broke my hair off. Horrible stuff!

Giovanni Direct leave in makes my hair feel like cement. I use now if i use too much oil on my hair. Dries the oil right up.

A product called perm repair. That stuff was horrible.

I second that...What was in that stuff?? It made my hair hard as straw back when I was permed and called myself "repairing" my hair. Eta- I found the ingredients-- no wonder why it felt so horrid, I had no idea what I ws doing w/that product (look at the 1st ingredients + protein high on list)!

Edited to add ingredients:
Ingredients
Water (Aqua), Mineral Oil (Paraffinum Liquidum), Petrolatum, Lanolin, Laneth-15, Peg-40 Stearate, Glycerin, Sodium Pca, Panthenol, Hydrolyzed Keratin, Hydrolyzed Glycosaminoglycans Sodium Cocoyl Collagen Amino Acids, Acetamide Mea, Polyquaternium-39, Stearic Acid, Carbomer, Triethanolamine, Methylparaben, Diazolidinyl Urea, Fragrance (Parfum).

That stuff jacked my hair up back in the day!!!! I get mad when I walk past it in my local bss. lol

wow thats interesting...It's in my cycle of conditioners and I've never had any problems.

ACV - I think it dried my hair out. I'm actually scared to try again. I don't want any setbacks I'm only about 1 1/2 inches from bsl.

Henna- I tried two times and it made my hair Dry and Brittle. (I may attempt to henna again in the future because there seems to be so many positive results for people with thin hair).

Switcing relaxers- from Motions Mild to ORS Mild (it made my hair verrrrrry dry)
There was also this natural straightening product that my sister and I used that smelled very strongly of vinegar, that also made my hair dry. (I can't remember the name of the product though)

detangling my hair was HELL ON EARTH! big wads of hair coming out:nono:....

I totally agree my hair was stuck together so tightly after using this product it was like a jar of weave glue hidden in a poo bottle

in my high school days it was brown gel....ewww! And I would comb it out every morning and apply a new coat :nono:
OMG I remember doing this :lachen:and I remember the first time I got finger waves with the brown gel, I was soooooo happy. I kept them in for like 2 whole weeks and kept reappyling more brown gel to the parts where the hair was lifting off. I bought a biiiggg tub of brown gel.

Lol. What about the scrunch waves w/that brown boo boo gel? My hairdresser would let my finger waves on the front of my head get almost dry (I would have a wet set in the back of my head) then lift the back of the waves up in scrunch em toward the front to get dem waves poppin in 3D-lookin' like the Predator. That mess was so damaging. You could hear my hairs snapping as she did it. Lol, gawd that was such a ghetto hairstyle and I loved it! Then she might spray some of that color on the waves...and glitter. All that was super drying to my hair, lead to a lot of breakage.
