If EVERYONE told you that you look better with short hair, would you grow ur hair?

By everyone, I mean men, women, male friends, boyfriends, family members, friends...say for the post part everyone has told you short hair is you.

Would that impact your decision on how you chose to wear your hair?

I may take their opinion into consideration but I would do what I felt was best for me. If long hair is what I like then long hair it would be.

When I was younger everyone used to tell me I looked good with short hair and that did play a part in me keeping my hair short for many many years. But, as I started to grow my hair I started to question the reasons behind people telling me this... I mean if they didn't think my hair would grow wouldn't they encourage me to be satified with the little bit of hair I have?

I personally think I look good with short hair but I look better with long hair.

A lot of my friends have told me that a short cut would look nice on me but I still want to grow it longer.

Short hair does look lovely on you (I've said that before) but you probably didn't want to hear that lol. But if you want to grow it longer, why not go for it?

nope their opinion does not matter... wouldn't cut it because I love hair plus my head too big for short hair I put that in the same category as the ppl that always say my natural hair will look better and hang more if I get a relaxer. I look at them like this erplexed and say "what you talkin bout Willis?" and keep it moving. You have to like... no love what you see in the mirror.... don't worry about other's opinion.

I didn't want to be cynical just stating my experience. But again, no I wouldn't let what someone else thinks determine what I do to my hair.

No. I wear MY hair how I want to. Lately, people have been telling me that my hair looks good now and I should stop growing it out before it looks "crazy," but um...I don't really care. I've invested a lot of time and energy into MY hair and for me to see it thrive is important to ME. Everyone else is a non-factor. I'M the one who needs be be happy with MYSELF when I look in the mirror everyday.

Nope. I would continue to grow it as long as it will go. I'm on this hair (and weight loss) journey for myself, not anyone else.

There are very few people in my life whose opinion I value anyway, so those few would have to get over it.

I don't care too much what others think. I do what I want. So no it wouldn't impact my decision. If I wanted to grow my hair I would. Best believe once your hair starts growing those same people will be telling you how great it looks.

Absolutely not. I envy "Halle Berry chicks" -girls that look better with short hair. I would rock a BC every summer. I like getting haircuts I just hate the process of maintaining it and growing it out.

I have been told countless times that I look better in short hair, and by men suprisingly. Dh doesn't care as long as its natural. I think that people have an outside perception of what looks good on a person than the wearer, but I think its important for the wearer to wear what makes them feel their best. To be honest, I think they say I look better in short hair because I appear most confident in it and I have a "you can't tell me ish" attitude,lol. If I felt confident in long hair and rocked it, I think people would tell me too.

I don't know if it greatly impacts the way I wear my hair, but I take it into consideration. At the end of the day, I want to do what feel best in.

Yes I would continue to grow my hair despite what people have to say. I have always wanted long hair, and after being on this site, I see that it is possible.

I don't want to live my life for other people. I want long hair and I will keep trying until "I" don't want it anymore.

Everyone (well everyone but me and my brother) told my mother that going to college at her age was a waste of time. She will graduate with a Masters' degree in Social Work in May 2012. Sometimes you have to ignore people on certain things.

ETA: Besides, we have the benefit of wearing our hair in a shruken, "shorter looking" state. And relaxed ladies can do some nice updo styles. No need to cut the hair.

I am also somewhat surprised by this, I assumed men would just naturally prefer long hair. In my case, that's not true.

Nope, I like the challenge of growing my hair to my ultimate goal of waist and the way it can make styles more dramatic.

Also, because I'm a type 4a natural with 75% shrinkage, I can always achieve a shoulder length or above shoulder length look with my hair even when I meet and surpass waist.

It's mostly boring men who think that women with natural hair can only have long hair if it's in braids or locs. To them, loose natural hair looks "wild" or "not neat." They also think that they are classier than the next ninja because they listen to Janelle Monae (even though they talk about her hair because it's "doing too much"). My response to them is..."Oh, then I guess we shouldn't go out because I wouldn't want you to dislike my hair down the line..." Deuces.

Alot of people tell me that I look younger with long hair like 19 yrs old....lol...My SO likes me with my shortcuts and I also think I like short hair better. I am growing my hair to see how long I can grow it. I have been contemplating cutting but my journey has been a lonnnnng one since I grow slow.

That's what I'm doing right now; I had a mohawk type thing for a while and everybody LOVED it, but I want long hair and in the end it's what I want, cause ain't nobody payin' a bill around here but me, so I will make the decisions.

when I had my hair chop off by a SHS in high school, everyone loved it. even now ppl tell me all the time I'd look better with a cropped 'do. while I appreciate their opinions, I'd much rather have long hair.

I have been told that. I even got a sew in once and got a really short cropped style. But I want longer hair.

I thik short hair "looks" better on people because the right cut will frame your face, make your eye pop, ect. I think that this could be done with longer hair too. Don't just have long hair (not hot on most people, just long hair hair hanging there, no layers tired looking ends. You can have long hair and still have a flattering cut
