no but i did see a guy on the train today who had fingerwaves trying to cover his bald spot:look:

i see a lot of people sporting these now. Everything old is new I guess.

When I was in the military there was a senior personnel who was sporting a jheri curl. And she worked around electronics. Her curl was so juicy her collar was see through. No lie.

I used to want some finger waves sooo bad...until I touched some.

Okay. I just watched the video. Those didn't even look good...lol

I wore them during my first few months of being a natural. When I saw that there was a video link, I was actually a little worried it'd be mine!:lol: I did a tutorial a while back. :look:

I wore them from time to time, just to switch it up. Don't think I'd wear them now though. My hair is longer and I have a lot more options.

I like the 1930s fingerwaves, but only if going for that 1930s look, I mean hair, make-up and dress.

I had those my senior year of hs. They were soft and full kinda like the mommy wig though - not slick and goopy at all. I have no idea what products my stylist used back then. Didn't really know how they were done till I watched this video just now.

A client came in yesterday and requested some waves. No one wanted to do it lol
I had to ask her why, it was so unusual. She said it's because she was transitioning and wanted to leaver her hair untouched for a while. They looked good on her.
I had my teacher do finder waves on my edges lol

See okay...So, let me just relate my experience with watching this youtuber...and why we should APPLAUDE THAT WOMAN with her 1993 fingermaze hair do (nawl, that ain't a typo).

I remember seeing her video on "black women" needing to wash their hair more, and how she washes her hair daily. She was flippin' and floppin' in front of the mirror, feeling her neck length swang, and giggling into the camera "this shine...tee hee...means my hair is not damaged." With the willlowy wisps falling into her eyes and all that...:look:

Shortly after, she's got videos up about how to do "short" hair, and how she cuts her hair ear length every summer..."don't ask me why I just do". So..

I think she is brave, fullacrap, but she's brave. I don't think I'll ever get in front of a camera and tell people what I do to my hair, and how to make it look just right. Because I know with each setback, someone is thinking "I told you so."

So here's to YOU overconfident youtuber with the rat-tail and a dream (Reeeeal Gel of Geeeeenius!), without your "Imma KILL em with this one" attitude, and willingness to share, I wouldn't have a reason to post this gif.

I saw a girl with some version of a faux-hawk that was fingerwaved on the sides and it was really cute on her, it looked soft a touchable........
....then I saw another lady just the other day who had the whole head fingerwaved down pro-style gel crunchy style and it looked a HAM...so I suppose it depends!

(I wont be wearing any anytime soon, however)

I haven't worn them, but I think they can be cute in a soft vintage up-do. My mom wore one like this for my wedding, and it looked nice. Hers were very soft and didn't have a helmet/head look. Kinda like the photos below...these look nice.

OMG this is too funny :lachen::lachen::lachen:

She lost me at the pro style gel, I love how she kept saying "walk awaay..." lol, don't mind if I do

I can't remember the name of that Black hair magazine that passed out tickets, but I distinctly recall finger waves always being a culprit.

Vintage '30s, yes.

Early Missy, no...just...no.

I'm going to say the key to having classy, attractive finger waves is that we cannot see the outline of your actual finger on your scalp.

Just saw the video...ok I can understand what she was trying to do, but imo I don't think it worked, lol. But credit where credit is due, I'm sure there are plenty who would appreciate her efforts. But I will not be trying to recreate the finger wave look anytime soon :nono:
