Huh? People want to debate that anyone that is mixed or bi-racial shouldn't be considered natural? I didn't even know this was an issue up for discussion. :perplexed I swear everyday it's something new, I can't keep up. :rolleyes:

For the past two days I've been doing a lot of thinking and realized it really is just hair, everyone has it and to have all these divisions, discussions, debates, topics, etc. constantly is just a waste of time due to difference of opinion and view points. I think if we all just decreased the amount of time and attention we pay to hair when it comes to these types of arguments we'd all be happier with less insecurities. For myself, I'm going to stop focusing on hair or at least hair that grows out of everyone else's head but my own and just be.
 
I got to 0:40 and clicked it off. I have NEVER heard this and think it's the stupidest thing I have ever heard. Bitter people with severe colorism and identity issues are always trying to find some way to segregate themselves from others.
 
Also, the title of your thread, "Amen!!!!! May this subject RIP thanks to AE" I don't think subjects or ones similar to this will ever truly rest in peace — people will always have comments and debates to conflict with the initial view point.

I agree that it will always be an issue but I feel like the basis of the video, was to encourage people to become comfortable with and accept themselves for who they are which is why this topic is still an issue. Of course people are going to pick apart everything she says for the sake of debate but I feel the basic meaning of the video is hard to disagree with.

Seriously?? Ppl really need to get over themselves. How would anyone not considered them natural. I'm not going to even try to figure that out..smh. In any event..I'm concerned with my hair..and helping whoever I can to reach their goals.
 
When one race enslaves or owns another race and brainwashes that race it is hard to move on or get over it. Just as slavery and racism was passed from generation to generation among whites colorism and this good hair vs bad hair mess has been passed from generation to generation. This will continue for years to come. Divide and conquer and house vs field is still working in 2011 :nono:. I will say one thing about us though we are survivors. They tried to wipe us off this earth and we are still kicking.

When I had my YouTube page up I had a few people tell me I wasn't natural because I am Dominican. It was the most ridiculous thing I had ever heard! LMAO I just deleted the comments and kept it moving.

My daughter, age 16, is biracial black/white with wavy textured hair. Texturizing for looser curl and flat ironing like no tomorrow nearly destroyed her APL hair, breaking off about 4 inches to SL. If not for the information, advice, and my own lessons learned for my hair on this site, she would not have realized the effects of heat damage and we would not have known how to nurse her hair back to health.

Yes, biracial women generally seem inherently capable of retaining hair and, therefore, achieving longer lengths faster but to hate on folks or "disown" them as not being black enough" naturals is silly and wrong.

the whole thing is dumb. natural hair doesn't equal kinky. we have all kinds of hair and it's annoying that we keep defining ourselves in these narrow constructions. No relaxer or jherri juice = natural. THE END

For some people natural hair = straight or wavy straight. I'm in the hair is hair camp so I didn't watch the video but it sounds stupid.
 
WOW!! So now you can't be multi-racial and be natural? My daughter is multiracial and her hair was the initial reason I found this board. To assume it doesn't take effort to grow her hair is ignorant. I'm so glad I found this board. I now can pass on proper hair care to my daughter and future generations. Yes, my baby IS natural even without kinky hair.

But I'm not surprised. I had someone laugh at me when I told them one of the reasons I went natural was so my daughter would love her own curly hair. They couldn't understand why since we have different textures. At the end of the day we're both curly, both natural.

This girl Taren :nono: :rolleyes: I want her to stop acting like she's an authority on anything other than her personal life experience. She should really stick to tutorials and product reviews because im starting to see why she rubs people the wrong way. I dont have a "problem" with her at all, but it seems like she looovvess bringing up sensitive subjects, then making numerous video responses as if she didnt anticipate the drama :look:

btw the term "Natural hair community" KILLS me:lachen:sounds ridiculous.

I like her a lot she seems warm, pretty, informative and all that jazz but I have noticed what you're talking about and I'm left with this face: :perplexed

LOL! It's kind of humourous but I'm always left wondering why whatever she's talking about is being brought up again. :giggle: Maybe she should make a personal channel for all that and separate it from the tutorials. Love her though.
 
AE was spot on with her response...many black women often feel so damaged or oppressed that they lash out at anyone they feel has it "easier" than them, in this case it being a biracial person or someone with a looser curl pattern. I'm pretty tired of it, and every time people act like that my response should be, "You mad?"

As for AE blocking people on her channel...lol, I sort of like ridiculous comments because it's a public display of someone showing their stupidity. When I first started my channel, I'd feel as if I needed to respond and "show" the commenter, but now I respond with, "Thank you for your feedback!" because really, what are they going to say to that? I never delete those comments; I like to keep them there so my subbies can laugh at the monkey on display.
