ETA: I apologize for not mentioning this before, but I stole the idea for this thread from BHM, except I wanted to do a spin off with pictures...to give us a chance to reflect on how our hair looked when we were young, or when we were or weren't taking care of it, as opposed to how it looks now, and what we can do to change or fix things so that our hair will get better.

I believe it was APL... Before my setbacks and much needed trim.

I'm sad to say my Mom never learned to do hair and kept my hair short in a jerhi curl from the time I can remember. Last year, just before I cut my hair was the longest I'd ever been. I have faith though that I'll be back within a year and a half, with healthy blunt ends this time.

How do you all put old pictures up? Even if I had any, I don't know how I'd be able to post them. Please explain.

I scanned the pictures onto my computer and uploaded them onto an image hosting website such as www.imageshack.us. I got the html code to post them on forums, and here it is. :)
 
Longest mine has been was WL, but it was too thin during my transition due to breakage at the demarcation line, so I went ahead and BC'd it all off about 2 wks ago. I have pics of my hair at thick long MBL (relaxed bone straight), which can be seen in my mid-2006 album at: Public Home | JewellJ | Fotki.com, photo and video sharing made easy.. I maintained MBL for several years and was relaxed, so I KNOW I can do it so easily and grow even longer while completely natural (no heat-training). I have on a pink, flowered house coat in that pic of me with MBL relaxed hair. Sorry, idk how to post pics correctly here in messages. :spinning:

My hair has never gotten past the APL mark. I would LOVE to just be that length again it not for my hair goals.

Funny, hitting APL has always been a breeze for me. Getting to BSL was the tough part...
 
My hair now, pic in my sig, is the longest it has ever been. Never really started taking good care of my hair until October 2010

Thanks but not so good work. My hair has grown about an inch since October. I didn't take care of my hair so I would never retain length. I think I finally reached apl because I stopped going to the hairdresser on a regular basis. Also, I started working out so I would just slap in a ponytail and go. Stopped using heat because my hair was always sweated out so why bother? I would still sleep without a satin cap and wake up with my hair crunchy and tangled. I really think it is this long because I only get trims twice per year now. I am just wondering what my hair will do now that I actually take care of it!
 
I was at brastrap when I first got my hair relaxed around beginning of elementary school. My height now would probably make that around APL I suppose? I didn't grow that much. I'm APL now though but want to get to BSL/MBL. My ultimate goal is full SL curly hair.

but one thing I wish my hair can do now it make a perfect fro. Now it's just flops over.

In my adult life (as in after my mom let me start take care of it?) probably the APL natural I was just before I cut it into my mohawk:

when I was lil and my mom was doing my hair I believe I was like BSL.

But when I got a perm it changed....I got to BSL in 9th grade with this particular hairstylist...but after she moved my hair went down the drain, literally.
 
WL around Thanksgiving '10. As a child, my hair was always mbl but to me, that doesn't count because my body was much smaller. After puberty I guess, my hair always hovered around apl so this is the longest my hair has ever been.
 
My hair is CURRENTLY the longest it's ever been! I'm soo excited.
The pic in my siggie shows my current length..almost hip!! wahooo!!
 
My hair has always been super short! So my current NL, (sadly enough) is the longest my hair has ever been. At least in my adult life!

ETA: To be fair, the front, top and sides of my hair have been a bit longer than they are now, but my nape has not been as long as it is now in many years!
 
Longest my hair has been is full shoulder, even as a little girl. I will try to find some pics to scan in later.

I'm determined to make APL this year, which will be the longest my hair has ever been in my life. My hair practices really weren't that bad back in the day, I think I just have fragile hair type that u really have to put the effort into to get it to grow long.
 
The longest my hair has ever been is almost MBL (see my Avatar). Since that picture, my stylist cut quite a bit off, too me, and now I am BSB. My goal is MBL, so I only have about 2-3 inches to go. Not sure if I want to get to WL, but I'll just let my hair do what it do after I reach my MBL goal.
 
The longest my hair has ever been is what it is now. When I washed my hair last night I realized my hair is apl,natural. Yeah me!

I'm at my longest length now, I just realized yesterday that I've just hit BSL. Aside from the few flat iron and hair lightening (once) setbacks this year, I've gone easy on direct heat, deep conditioned regularly and have not overlapped my relaxer touch-ups so I continue to retain pretty well. I always thought I was a slow grower but now I realize I was just not listening to my hair. It's kind of blowing my mind. I've never even toyed with the idea that WL was a possibility for me but now...?!

All thanks to LHCF. Seriously.
 
MBL. This pic wasn't the longest but it's close. This was last Dec. 2010.

I had a huge bald spot on the right side of my head for a few years as a result of alopecia areata. Luckily, the rest of my hair was so thick, no one knew unless I showed them. I was delighted when it began to grow out from absolutely nothing, so I tried not to focus on the length difference too much. Just growing.

I camouflaged it by pinning up the right side and curling my ends, so it wasn't obvious how much shorter the right side was than the left.

In this pic, I'd just washed it, so you can clearly see. This was last February 2010.

I knew that once the right side got long enough, I'd eventually have to even it out drastically. I began cutting it last April 2010, with more trims a few times since. You can even see in the pic that the ends on the right were scraggly, so I had to cut them too. My last trim/cut was in Sept 2010. I've been cutting it myself, so it still isn't totally even, but the ends are way more thick and blunt than it's been in a long time (without having to curl them).

Now it's a bit past APL. I'm expecting to make Full BSL this summer and then Full MBL by new years or very soon after. It's seeming like forever, but at least it will happen. My final goal is Full waist, but I'm not even thinking about that yet.
 
currently at my longest length. I have a pic of my hair straightened as a child and it looked APL and extremely thick
